본 논문은 재전송 모드가 지원되는 broadcasting에 알맞은 효율적인 코딩 기법을 제안한다. 구체적으로는, 사용자에 따른 ACK/NACK의 통계적인 패턴 및 index coding을 활용하여 사용자들의 feedback에 따라 적응적으로 packet들을 XOR 연산을 통하여 전송하고, 각 사용자는 이미 성공적으로 받은 packet 정보들을 활용하여 XOR 연산을 통하여 제대로 수신 받지 않은 packet들을 디코딩하게 된다. 이를 통해, index coding을 하지 broadcasting과 견주어 두드러지게 전체 평균 전송 횟수를 줄일 수 있음을 보였다. 제안한 broadcast 기법은 특히 delay tolerant한 데이터 서비스에 효과적으로 적용하여 이용될 수 있음을 전체 송신 packet 평균 전송 횟수 비교를 통해 보였다.

지상파DTV 방송프로그램의 온라인 상의 불법적인 배포가 활발하게 일어남에 따라, 지상파DTV 방송프로그램에 대한 보호에 대한 필요성이 높아지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 방송프로그램 보호신호(Program Protection Information: PPI)에 기반한 지상파 방송프로그램 보호 시스템 구현 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 방법에서는 방송프로그램에 포함된 PPI 정보의 재배포 조건에 따라, 방송프로그램을 암호화하여 녹화한 후, 암호화된 방송프로그램과 키 정보 및 프로그램보호신호를 하나의 패키징 파일로 구성하여 저장한다. 녹화된 방송프로그램의 사적복제 기능을 지원하기 위해 도메인 프로토콜을 정의하고, 도메인 등록 절차를 통해 복사 제어 기능을 제공한다. 구현 결과를 통해, 제안한 시스템이 방송프로그램을 효율적으로 보호할 뿐 아니라, 사용자의 사적이용을 지원하기 위한 홈도메인 기반의 제한적인 배포 기능을 제공할 수 있음을 보여준다.

We consider an overlaid broadcast service, where a spread spectrum (SS)-based broadcast signal is overlaid onto the existing terrestrial Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (T-DMB) band. The system is similar to the augmented data transmission in the ATSC DTV, for which it was investigated mostly in terms of link level performance, such as bit error rate. Our focus in this paper is on the system-level performances. More specifically, utilizing both a large scale path loss and a small scale fading channel model, the primary objective is to explore the tradeoff between the coverage and the achievable rate of the overlaid service and, finally, to determine the achievable rate in the overlaid service for marginal coverage reduction in the existing broadcast service. The analytical and simulation results show that an SS-based add-on service of 10 kbps to 20 kbps can co-exist with the T-DMB service while resulting in only a marginal degradation in T-DMB coverage (for example, less than one percent reduction).

본 논문에서는 셀룰러 방송(cellular broadcast)을 위한 LTE (long term evolution) 기반 5G (fifth-generation) MBMS (multimedia broadcast and multicast services)와 5G NR (new radio)의 PBCH (physical broadcast channel) 검출 성능을 평가하고 5G NR의 PBCH 검출 성능을 향상시키는 방법을 제시한다. 시간 영역에서 수신 신호와 모든 가능한 PSS (primary synchronization signal)의 상관(correlation)을 계산하고, 상관 값을 결합(combining)하여 SS/PBCH 블록의 시작 위치와 프레임 동기를 획득한다. 또한, PBCH 검출 성능 향상을 위해 프레임 내에 존재하는 모든 SS/PBCH 블록에 포함된 PBCH 신호를 결합하는 방법을 제시한다. 본 논문에서 적용한 PBCH 결합 방법에 대한 성능을 평가하고 기존 LTE 기반 5G MBMS의 PBCH 검출 성능과 비교한다. 전산 실험 결과는 가산 백색 가우시안 잡음(additive white Gaussian noise: AWGN) 환경과 고정 및 이동 환경에서 5G NR의 PBCH를 결합함으로써 검출 성능이 향상되고 기존 LTE 기반 5G MBMS 보다 우수한 성능을 보여준다.

본 논문에서는 모바일 통신 방송 융합분야는 세계 각국이 서로 상이한 표준을 가지고 있어 해외 시장 진출 시 제품 신뢰성 확보를 위한 해외 현지에서의 테스트가 중요시 되어서 국내 기업의 테스트 비용과 개발기간 면에서 경쟁력 확보의 악재로 작용하고 있다. 따라서 모바일 통신 방송의 세게 각 국 표준의 테스트 인프라를 확보하고 이를 활용하는 테스트의 전반적인 시스템을 구축하여 국내 기업의 테스트 비용 절감 및 개발기간 단축과 다양한 서비스 개발이 가능하다.

We report that broadcast messages in Mobile WiMAX networks should be synchronized throughout all the base stations to gain the benefit of beamforming technique. A simple synchronization implementation of broadcast messages in Mobile WiMAX networks is presented. Using this technique, the interference between broadcast messages and beamformed messages can be reduced.

본 논문에서는 2010년 현재 급속히 변화하고 있는 방송통신융합 분야의 변화를 기술 및 서비스 모델 측면에서 고찰하고, 전 세계적으로 진행 중인 DTV전환과 관련하여 방송주파수대역의 재배치 및 재활용과 연계하였다. Open Platform, Open Spectrum, Open Application 의 개념아래 단말중심으로 발전할 것으로 예상되는 무선분야의 방송통신융합모델을 기반으로 방송주파수대역이 수행하게 될 역할을 방송 및 통신시장의 관점과 고유의 서비스특성의 장단점을 중심으로 분석하였다.
