This paper proposes a new system to maximize efficiency of Air Base Protection Operations through the development of location identification software. The Wibro-based location identification system for Air Base Protection Force offers Blue Ground Force digitalized character message which is not exposed to enemy. Also, it is possible to automatically provide the location of Blue Ground Force to Air Base Ground Operations Center. The test result proves that this system is very helpful when Air Base Protection Force executes Air Base Protection Operations.

Axial fans are widely used for automotive engine cooling device due to their ability to produce high flow rate to keep engine cool. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of the most serious problems. Especially, engine cooling fan noise in idle condition of a car is noticeable. Therefore, the high efficient and low-noise fan is seriously needed. When a new fan system is designed, system resistance and non-uniform inflow are the key factors to get the high performance and low noise fan system. In this study, experimental study on the fan and system was carried out and brought a successful result of performance and noise from a designed fan. And through the modification of the fan system, the fan produced more flow rate and became less noisy.

To implement a high-precision lightning tracking system utilizing TDOA measurements, high-speed data acquisition and precise timing synchronization between ground sensors should be achieved. At the same time, considering the size of digitizer's memory, the data memory needs to be managed so that only the sampled data around the occurrence of stepped leader pulse is stored. This paper presents a detection-and-acquisition system for lightning signals that is the main equipment of ground sensor in lightning tracking system. GPS clock module is used to get precise timing synchronization and the 500MHz high speed digitizer is employed. In order to detect the leading edge of the lightning pulse and save the sampled data and its timing, lightning detection module is implemented and multi-record method is employed in the proposed system. Field experiment results show that the proposed system can detect and save the lightning signal efficiently.

성층권에 통신중계기를 탑재한 비행선이나 비행기를 띄워서 무선중계시스템을 구축하고, 이 시스템을 광대역 무선 멀티미디어서비스 사업에 활용하는 방안이 추진되고 있다. 본 논문은 이러한 성층권 무선중계시스템을 구성하는 플랫폼의 운용개념을 정의하고, 성층권 관제시스템이 갖추어야 할 기능 및 구성요소를 설정하며, 향후 구축될 성층권 관제시스템의 설계를 구체화하기 위한 개념을 제공할 목적으로 수행된 연구의 결과이다.

In this paper, the hardware design of a transmission convergence sublayer(TC) for boradband wireless access system is described, which performs (1) formatting TC PDUs to MAC PDUs, (2) RS encoding/decoding, (3) providing various control signal to PHY modem. The TC hardware has been designed in VHDL, and successfully synthesized in an FPGA chip.

In this paper, a new compact PIFA, applicable to PCS system, is described. The central aim in design is to broaden the bandwidth within limited height of mobile phones. To overcome the narrow bandwidth characteristics, which is typical of a patch antenna, tapered type radiation patch is employed. The antenna is designed using CST microwave studio and its characteristics are compared with a basic PIFA with similar volume.

Borehole radar is one kind of GPR, but it can be used in deep boreholes, and it has many advantages compared with low frequency borehole EM tools, and surface GPR. We have developed various techniques on borehole radar for environment study. The hardware development includes broadband radar system with the functions of polarimetry and inteferometry. By using these systems, we tested the measurements to applications such as subsurface fracture characterization, subsurface cavity detections. In this paper, we will describe the advantages of the advanced radar technology for environment studies, and show some experiment results.

We have developed an MPEG2 realtime codec system and ATM interface, and evaluated the performance and characteristics of the audio-visual communication in terms of Interoperability specification of The ATM Forum, ITU-T H.310 draft recommendation [1] and the reference points of DAVIC specification through the experiments using the experimental public ATM network.

B-ISDN(Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network)which is defined as a service or system requiring transmission channels capable of supporting rates above 1.5 Mbps has emerged as a new future telecommunication infrastructure. B-ISDN can integrate a wide range of services and the success of B-ISDN is crucially dependent on the development of user-needing application services. The purpose of this study is the conceptual development of B-ISDN application services. We survey on the kinds of B-ISDN service, classify application areas by user groups, and develop B-ISDN application services. Finally we categorize B-ISDN application services by their application areas and necessary services.

일반거주지역의 초고속 광가입자망 구축을 위해 B-PON(Broadband Passive optical network)시스템과 이를 위한 급전방안으로 공유급전이 고려되고 있다. 한곳의 Power-Node가 최대 32개의 ONU에 전력을 공급하기 위해서는 고 전위의 구동 source가 필요하게 된다. 고압실현을 위하여 검토되는 회로는 범용으로 사용되는 linear 방식보다는 SMPS(Switching Mode Power Supply)방식의 소형경량화의 회로를 채택하며, 고 용량화에 수반되는 역률 문제를 보상하고, 고효율을 실현하여 전체시스템의 전력밀도의 극대화를 이루었다.
