Normally, cedar heartwood has a red color. However, it frequently changes black color (blackening phenomenon). It is reported that blackening phenomenon of cedar has been caused by oxidation of phenolics and norlignan extractives under weak alkaline conditions. In this study, heat treatment and UV irradiation were carried out to reduce the difference of color value between blackened wood and bright sap wood. Effects of temperature, moisture content, treatment time and light on decrease of color difference between blackened heartwood and sapwood were evaluated in each treatment. A decrement of different color value between blackened heartwood and bright sapwood by hot-water treatment was bigger than others. An effect of the vacuum drying was similar to that of the kiln drying. UV irradiation decreases the color difference between dried blackened heartwood and bright sapwood. It is suggested that UV irradiation could be used as final treatment to reduce the color difference on wood during drying process. Determination of optimum conditions and development of hybrid process for control of discoloration will be needed in a further study.
Various myoglobin derivatives were manufactured in pork and beef ribeye in the laboratory and their colorimetric values were measured with a chromameter. The average values of L* and a* of pork pigments were higher and b* values were lower than those of beef pigments. Oxymyoglobin (bright red) is considered to be a desirable fresh red meat pigment for consumer acceptance. The means of L*, a* and b* values of oxymyoglobin were 36.41, 27.32 and 4.71 for pork and 30.54, 25.58 and 9.81 for beef, respectively. Nitrosyl hemochrome, the pigment of processed meat products like sausages and hams had L*, a* and b* values of 47.93, 26.85 and 6.63 for pork and 41.82, 23.19 and 11.82 for beef. It was found that as a discoloration developed in meat and the meat color turned to brown, the L*, b* values increased and the a* value decreased.
Purpose: This study was based on curation commerce that has been rapidly developing. It looked into the effect of curation commerce's quality of service factors (information quality, information interest quality, interaction quality, and personalization quality) on satisfaction and the mediating effect of consumer empathy and shopping value between service qualities and consumers' satisfaction with curation commerce. Research design, data, and methodology: The survey was conducted on 273 consumers who used Chinese curation commerce services. The research data was analyzed using the Smart PLS 3.0 program. The empirical analysis was conducted with reliability and validity analyses of the questionnaire and hypothesis test. Results: As a result, only the quality of information had a direct impact on satisfaction. The remaining service quaility factors (information interest quality, interaction quality, and personalization quality) were found to affect satisfaction through utilitarian value or consumer empathy. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in that it selected the service quality factors experienced by consumers about curation commerce services in line with the bright market prospects of curation services. In addition, the significance of this study was to reveal the psychological mechanism of the process in which the quality of service reaches consumer satisfaction.
Purpose - The purpose of paper is to examine into corporate value of international physical distribution, which is closely related with company that is running business based on competitive power. It is good for company to gain a competitiveness throughout activities from international physical distribution, then it increases corporate value after all. Then it will be looked at how international physical distribution can influence competitiveness of company in terms of corporate value. Research design, data, and methodology - The research method to be described is first to identify concept of international physical distribution theoretically, including characteristics and structure, and then to review corporate value of international physical distribution to make company be competitive. As far as general landscape of international logistics is concerned, it is investigated into function and role of service provider, user and market situations. However, it is well proved that current market of international physical distribution is stable and bright, which means it is possible to take foreseeable future as well. Then company can share with corporate value of international physical distribution provided from logistics service provider. Results - To achieve corporate value throughout process of international physical distribution is strongly connected with competitive status of logistics service providers, those are carriers and infrastructures, and third party logistics providers. Especially in order to inquire into competitive aspects of international physical distribution in this paper, it is focused on trade volumes and overcapacity of global shipping market. Unlike it is used to be, more optimistic and positive situation has been shown since 5 years ago from the year of 2018, which means carriers make a business well, leading company to be more competitive. Conclusions - Corporate value of company in terms of international physical distribution is closely involved with competitive situations in the physically distribution, especially shipping market, which service providers can paly a key role in this regards. It can be estimated that the more market of international physical distribution works, the more competitiveness of companies increases. Ocean carriers in shipping market of international physical distribution are doing actively business well, and the corporate value can be materialized in favor of company.
We present the Korea Institute for Advanced Study Value-Added Galaxy Catalog (KIAS VAGC), a catalog of galaxies based on the Large Scale Structure (LSS) sample of New York University Value-Added Galaxy Catalog (NYU VAGC) Data Release 7. Our catalog supplements redshifts of 10,497 galaxies with 10 < $r_P\;{\leq}\;17.6$ (1455 with 10 < $r_P\;{\leq}\;14.5$) to the NYU VAGC LSS sample. Redshifts from various existing catalogs such as the Updated Zwicky Catalog, the IRAS Point Source Catalog Redshift Survey, the Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies, and the Two Degree Field Galaxy Redshift Survey have been put into the NYU VAGC photometric catalog. Our supplementation significantly improves spectroscopic completeness: the area covered by the spectroscopic sample with completeness higher than 95% increases from 2.119 to 1.737 sr. Our catalog also provides morphological types of all galaxies that are determined by the automated morphology classification scheme of Park & Choi (2005), and related parameters, together with fundamental photometry parameters supplied by the NYU VAGC. Our catalog contains matches to objects in the Max Planck for Astronomy (MPA) & Johns Hopkins University (JHU) spectrum measurements (Data Release 7). This new catalog, the KIAS VAGC, is complementary to the NYU VAGC and MPA-JHU catalog.
The sapwood of yellow poplar is very bright while its heartwood is usually greenish which changes to dark brown with weathering. This difference in color value between sapwood and heartwood causes difficulty in using yellow poplar as higher value added materials such as interior finish and furniture part. In this study, hot-water treatment, vacuum-heat treatment and oven-heat treatment were carried out to reduce the difference in color value between heartwood and bright sap wood and to increase durability. FT-IR analysis, contact angle measurement and decay test were carried out to find out the mechanism of functional group change and the increment of durability by heat treatment. The result of decrement ratio of color difference were 45.7% by hot-water treatment, 26.8% by vacuum-heat treatment, and 60.2%, 87.8%, and 88.8% by $180^{\circ}C$, $200^{\circ}C$ and $220^{\circ}C$ oven-heat treatments respectively. Furthermore, it has been found that oven-heat treatment causes decrement of mass loss by decay in this study. It is suggested that oven-heat treatment could be environmentally friendly preservative treatment without chemicals.
This study investigated Post-Occupancy Evaluation (POE) of cherry blossom trails 'Cherry Road' in Daegu Catholic Univ. campus, at Gyeonsan-city, Korea. The evaluation focused on image preference and satisfaction of users i.e., students, using questionnaire surveys. A total 201 questionnaire samples were analyzed and most of the respondents were in the age group of 20. Frequency analysis was conducted on demographics, use behavior, reliability, and means. Factor analysis and multiple regression analysis were conducted for user satisfaction and image preference. Over 80% of visitors came with companions during daytime. The most common motives for use were strolling and walking, event and meeting, passing. For user satisfaction the mean scores were highest for landscape beauty (4.22), image improvement (4.14), campus image (4.08). Night lighting facility received the lowest score (3.32). Factor analysis concerning user satisfaction was categorized into environment-human behavior and physical factors. Multiple regression analysis showed that the overall satisfaction of user was significantly influenced by five independent variables: 'harmonious' (β=.214), 'night lighting facility' (β=.173), 'landscape beauty' (β=.208), 'lawn care' (β=.154), and 'walking trails' (β=.123). The mean scores of image variables were highest for 'beautiful' (5.81), 'bright' (5.67), and 'open' (5.64). The lowest scores was for 'quiet' (4.47). Exploratory factor analysis led to three factors being categorized: aesthetics, comforts, and simplicity. Result of multiple regression analysis indicated that the preference of space image was significantly influenced by five variables: 'bright' (β=.397), 'refreshing' (β=.211), 'cool' (β=.219), 'clean' (β=.182), and 'natural' (β=.-142). Hence, Cherry Road has a high level of user satisfaction and image evaluation, which is interpreted as having various cultural events and value for students on campus. To improve the satisfaction of Cherry Road in the future, it is necessary to secure night lighting, to manage trash cans, and to secure rest space.
The purpose of this study was to examine the state of career and employment among dental hygiene students in an attempt to get an accurate grip on their preparation for career and employment. And it's also meant to help improve the efficiency of guidance by dental hygiene education institutions for career and employment. The subjects in this study were every dental hygiene student at three different colleges. After a self-administered survey was conducted, the following findings were given: 1. In regard to the future prospects of dental hygienist, 44.2 percent of the students investigated believed that there would be a bright future for dental hygienist, and 55.8 percent didn't agree to that or considered the prospects to be neither bright nor bleak. 2. As to the motivation of choosing the department of dental hygiene, 51.2 percent thought that it was easy for dental hygienists to get a job, and 22.2 percent wanted to be a professional. 3. Concerning preference for workplace, they hoped to work in a hospital-sized or larger institutions including dental hospitals. As to the reason why they wanted a job, 76.2 percent had their sight set on standing on their own feet. 4. As for the top priority for employment, they took interpersonal relationship into account the most(3.63), followed by aptitude(3.52) and working conditions/environments(3.51). 5. In terms of job values by academic year, all the freshmen, sophomores and juniors attached the most importance to interpersonal relationship. By academic standing in the previous semester, the students who got an A, B or C put more value on human relations, and those who got a D gave more weight to social status and fame. The gap between them was statistically significant. As for the impact of the high schools they graduated from, they took the most statistically significant consideration on interpersonal relationship irrespective of their alma mater.
We present the results of multi-epoch, multi-frequency monitoring of a blazar 4C +29.45, which was regularly monitored as part of the Interferometric Monitoring of GAmma-ray Bright AGNs program - a key science program of the Korean Very long baseline interferometry Network (KVN). Observations were conducted simultaneously at 22, 43, 86 and 129 GHz during the 4 years from December 2012 to December 2016. We also used additional data from the 15 GHz Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO) monitoring program. From the 15 GHz light curve, we estimated the variability time scales of the source during several radio flux enhancements. We found that the source experiencesd 6 radio flux enhancements with variability time scales of 9-187 days during the observing period, yielding corresponding variability Doppler factors of 9-27. From the multi-frequency simultaneous KVN observations, we were able to obtain accurate radio spectra of the source and hence to more precisely measure the turnover frequencies 𝜈r of synchrotron self-absorbed (SSA) emission with a mean value of ${\bar{\nu}_r}=28.9GHz$. Using jet geometry assumptions, we estimated the size of the emitting region at the turnover frequency. Taking into account these results, we found that the equipartition magnetic field strength is up to two orders of magnitudes higher than the SSA magnetic field strength (0.6-99 mG). This is consistent with the source being particle dominated.

Lipid oxidation in ascidian was studied when fresh, deshelled and sliced meats were fermented for 50 days at 5$\pm$2$^{\circ}C$ with 8%(w/w) salt and 0.1% papain. Antioxidative effects of butylated hydroxytoluene(BHT) and carotenoid extracts from ascidian tunic on lipid oxidation and oxidationrelated discoloration of ascidian meat during fermentation were investigated. Changes in peroxide value, carbonyl value, thiobarbituric acid value, fatty acids composition, the loss of total carotenoid and sensory evaluation were determined to assess the rancidity. Peroxide and carbonyl values in BHT and carotenoid extract treatments increased less than those of the control during fermentation. TBA value increased until 30 days, hereafter tended to decrease a little in the control during fermentation. TBA value increased until 30 days, hereafter tended to decrease a little in the control but it increased slowly until 40 days in cases of 0.02% BHT or 0.02% BHT with 0.05% carotenoid added. Fatty acids of fresh ascidian composed of polyenoic acid, saturated acid and monoenoic acid of 51.5%, 28.1% and 20.7%, respectively. Saturated fatty acids(C16:0, C14:0, C18:0) and monoenoic acids(C18:1, C16:1) increased while polyenoic acids(C20:5, C22:6) decreased during fermentation. Carotenoid was markedly degraded and discolored in the control during fermentation. But 0.02% BHT and 0.05% carotenoid treatments had bright color like fresh meat during 40 days. The results of sensory evaluation during the fermentation also convinced the retard of discoloration by the addition of BHT and carotenoid.
