The STS304 stainless steel was oxidized isothermally and cyclically at temperatures between 1050 and $1200^{\circ}C$ for 1 hr in air. During isothermal oxidation, it displayed good oxidation resistance at $1050^{\circ}C$. However, it suffered from breakaway oxidation above $1100^{\circ}C$, being accompanied with internal oxidation. During cyclic oxidation, it also displayed good oxidation resistance at $1050^{\circ}C$, but it suffered from massive weight loss above $1125^{\circ}C$. The oxide scales formed consisted primarily of $Fe_2O_3$, $Fe_3O_4$ with and without $Cr_2O_3$. They were generally non-adherent.
The trajectories of 8 autonomous profiling floats deployed in the Kuroshio Extension region in February 2001 are used to depict the circulation pattern at the surface and 2000db. The corresponding sea surface topography maps created from satellite altimeter and dynamic height climatology were compared with the tracks of nearly coincident floats and were found to agree well in most cases except for the period June 5 to 16 2001. It is shown that over the period the conspicuous breakaway of the floats from an expected path is possibly associated with the abnormal path of the Kuroshio Extension such as an outbreak event, as revealed by AVHRR infrared and SeaWiFS chlorophyll-a images and cruise data in cross sections.
The behavior of fission gas in all major types of nuclear fuel has been reviewed with an emphasis on more recently discovered aspects. It is proposed that the behavior of fission gas can be classified in a number of characteristic types that occur at a high or low operating temperature, and/or at high or low fissile burnup. The crystal structure and microstructure of the various fuels are the determinant factors in the proposed classification scheme. Three types of behavior, characterized by anisotropic $\alpha$-U, high temperature metallic $\gamma$-U, and cubic ceramics, are well-known and have been extensively studied in the literature. Less widely known are two equally typical low temperature kinds: one associated with fission induced grain refinement and the other with fission induced amorphization. Grain refinement is seen in crystalline fuel irradiated to high burnup at low temperatures, whereas breakaway swelling is observed in amorphous fuel containing sufficient excess free-volume. Amorphous fuel, however, shows stable swelling if insufficient excess free-volume is available during irradiation.
In the modern society, the crossover phenomenon has appeared increasing the value of creative brands as concepts contrary or heterogeneous are combined with each other by the flow of diversified societies and cultures. This research covers the use of crossover design in current fashion. To analyze the crossover design in current fashion, crossover design were collected and analyzed from a Collection TV program(Seoul: Dong Ah TV) and an Internet Web site(www.samsungdesign.net) from 2007 to 2010. The information obtained from the current fashion is compared with the advertisement area; by making this comparison we will make an analysis to determinate the crossover elements organized in 5 groups: extension and reduction, breakaway and destruction, fusion and combination, overlap and repetition, adjacent and similarity. This 5 crossover elements were analyzed in current fashion with the purpose of seeing how crossover elements are available in fashion field. Therefore, this study can offer invaluable suggestions for multifaceted research on how to come up with design concepts which apply crossover element to current fashion.
The magnets were widely used to increase the retention of overdentures. The purpose of this study was to compare the break load between overdentures and edentulous models. For this study, Model former(U-402) was used for model fabrication and four different magnets were used for evaluation of break load. The artificial saliva was used between overdenture and model. Breakaway loads were tested with an Instron 1122 at a speed of 2mm/min. The results were as follows. 1. The retentivee forces complete dentures with artificial saliva were than the retentive forces of complete detures without artificial saliva. 2. Magnetic overdenture with artificial saliva showed best retentive force, magnetic overdenture without artificial saliva showed the next retentive force, and the complete denture without artificial saliva showed the worst retention. 3. As the magnetic sizes increased, the retentive forces of magnetics were increased. 4. The retentive force of nipple shape magnet is greater than the retentive force of flate shape magnet in the same size.
Friction phenomenon can be described as two parts, which are the pre-sliding and sliding regions. In the motion of the sliding region, the friction force depends on the velocity of the system and consists of the Coulomb, stick-slip, Streibeck effect and viscous frictions. The friction force in the pre-sliding region, which occurs before the breakaway, depends on the position of the system. In the case of the motion of the friction in the sliding region, the LuGre model describes well the friction phenomenon and is used widely to identify the friction model, but the motion of the friction in the pre-sliding such as hysteresis phenomenon cannot be expressed well. In this paper, a modified friction model for the motion of the friction in the pre-sliding region is suggested which can consider the hysteresis phenomenon as the Preisach model. In order to show the effectiveness of the proposed friction model, the sliding mode controller (SMC) with hysteresis friction compensator is synthesized for a ball-screw servo system.
