It is necessary to research shape of the breast of girls at adolescence for developing well-fit brassiers. 313 participants reside in Chonju and Kunsan were gathered for body measurement. The conclusion of this study can be summarized as follows. 1) The Analysis of Body Shape by Measurement. Comparing Age GroupⅠ(aged 10 to 12)' measurement with Age GroupⅡ(aged 13 to 15)', Each items has statistical significance. Two groups differed in the length, girth, depth, width items. 2) Factor Analysis of Body Measurement (1) Age GroupⅠ'characteristics were categorized Three Factor : Breast size and breast apex length. Breast volume, Length of the Breast part. (2) Age GroupⅡ' characteristics consist of four factors, which are named as breast size and its jut (first factor), breast volume (second factor), contour of breast profile & its jut (third factor), shoulder length (fourth factor). 3) Characteristics of Breast Shape. (1) Breast shapes of Age GroupⅠ are classified into three types. Types 1 is a protruded and more voluminous shape. Type 2 is the most voluminous and breast fatness is highest. Type 3 is the smallest and flat shape growing now. (2) Breast shapes of Age GroupⅡ are also classified into three types. Type 1 is the longest in length and middle in fatness, voluminous in size. Type 2 is the smallest in stature and the slimmest in fatness in breast shape. Type 3 is middle in length, the fattest and the most voluminous in breast.

This study was intended to grasp the actual condition of adult women's wearing foundation garments for the Korean adult women in their 20s to 40s. For this purpose, questionnaire research was conducted for 639 adult women in their 20s to 40s living in Seoul and Kyonggi Province. As for the reason for the purchase of foundation garments, It was found that the highest proportion of the responding adult women would buy brassieres when they were needed because the old ones were threadbare, followed by the purchase of brassiere when they caught their eyes in shopping around. As for the reason for the purchase of girdles, the highest proportion of the responding adult women could buy girdles when they were needed because their old ones were wornout, and next when bargain sale began at the department store or the large shopping center. The highest proportion of the responding adult women thought the source of information on foundation garments as the window display, followed by magazine. The adult women in their 30s collected information on foundation garments through the window display when buying brassieres or girdles. As for the product evaluation criteria of foundation garments, the highest proportion of the responding adult women thought highly of the feeling of wear in brassieres and girdles, followed by dimensions in brassieres and bodily correctability in girdles. As for the place of buying brassieres or girdles, the responding adult women showed it to be the department store. followed by the discount store and the well-known agency.

A Study on the Development of Brassiere Pattern for Elderly Women The purpose of this study is to develop functional and sensible brassiere for elderly women. For this purpose, 6 elderly women(aged between 65 and 69) were sampled to be measured for their body sizes and tested for their bressiere wearing. he results were as follows; 1. In order to develop the basic patterns of elderly women's bressieres, 90B size was selected and then, their bressiere fitting was tested. The foundation pattern of the size 90A was proved for the body by the wearing tests. Each angle and length of the parts on the basic line of the breasts played an important role on setting the pattern. 2. As based on the body surface shell extracted from a plastic mold(photo.2), the cup of brassiere pattern were applied to the body surface shell(photo.4), and full side stretch-wings were applied to 13% reduced body size. The design pattern of elderly women's brassiers were characterized by a round wired as well as a full cup(3piece) embracing the entire breasts. 3. As the result of the wearing test, the excellence of the experimental brassiere was recognized objectively, with high marks in all the items(fig. 6). The experimental brassiere was covering the whole breasts to cope with change according to breasts loosing. It was designed to support the breasts firmly.
