  • The meaning of luxury varies by individuals. The differing luxury perceptions should influence the way individuals react to relevant marketing programs for luxury. Limited research exists on the topic despite interest in luxury segmentation and consumer-oriented values for luxury in marketplaces. Referring to the conceptual framework by Wiedmann et al. (2007), we explored the moderation role of four dimensions of luxury value perceptions (LVP; financial, functional, individual, and social dimensions), in the relationship between in-store emotion and perceived brand luxury. A total of 218 U.S. consumers participated in our online survey using a hypothetical luxury store image. The results revealed the following: First, on the relationship between felt pleasure and perceived brand luxury (PBL), the financial dimension of LVP only showed a significant moderation effect. Second, the effect of felt arousal on PBL was moderated by the financial and social dimensions of LVP. Lastly, the individual dimension of LVP only moderated the relationship between felt dominance and PBL. Theoretical and managerial implications are suggested.

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the product image produced by the cinemagraph image and the product image produced by the general image in the electronic trade. The cinemagraph refers to the image with a special characteristic that provides the motion clue by playing the part of the picture endlessly in the form of a video. For this study, we explored how the perceived monetary value, brand attitude, and perceived taste would influence on the purchase intention, and it was analyzed that all of the three factors significantly influenced on the purchase intention. However, it was investigated that the purchase intention of the group watching the image by the cinemagraph was significantly influenced by the perceived monetary value and the perceived taste, and the purchase intention of the other group watching the general image was significantly influenced by the brand attitude and the perceived taste; therefore, it was verified that there was a difference between the group watching the cinemagraph and the group watching the general image. In this result, it could be interpreted that when the people watching the cinemagraph purchase a product in the shopping mall, the price becomes the important requirement, and when the people watching the general image purchase a product in the shopping mall, the brand becomes the important requirement; therefore, these results could provide great implications to the food marketers.

  • This study aimed to provide information to establish a service strategy in cross-border e-commerce through an assessment of consumer satisfaction with a cross-border shopping channel and "amazon global store" managed by 11street, a domestic e-commerce corporation. The influence of brand familiarity with amazon as a global retail brand was tested. The mediating roles of the perceived value and risk of both cross-border shopping and amazon global store were investigated; the moderating role of the domestic e-commerce corporation was also studied. An empirical study was conducted on consumers who had experience using the amazon global store managed by 11street. To verify the hypothesis, data from 200 people was analyzed using PROCESS macro 4.0. The results indicated that familiarity with global brands did not have a direct effect on consumer satisfaction; the effect of global retail brand familiarity on consumer satisfaction was mediated only by the perceived value of cross-border shopping and amazon global store, not by the perceived risks. E-commerce corporate credibility showed a moderated mediation effect by mediating functional values of the amazon global store. For consumer groups with a credibility level of medium and above, the interaction effect of brand familiarity and corporate credibility was significant.

  • This article is to propose a conceptual framework for the One Source Multi Use (OSMU) strategic model of culture content. In this study, OSMU is defined as a series of marketing activities to increase the value created by culture content. The framework of brand equity strategy is applied to develop the strategic model of OSMU, as both share the same goal - maximization of long term value created by brand or culture content. This article suggests the brand identity-based OSMU strategic model, in which the brand identity of culture content guides, integrates, and coordinates every decision-making of OSMU activities. For the maximization of brand equity value of culture content, the copyright holder of original content should decide the content's brand identity, which should provide the criteria of all decision makings regarding window strategy, adaptation of content to other genre, and merchandising. This brand identity-based OSMU strategic model can not only contribute to the sales of OSMU content, but also the creation of high equity culture content in the long run. Also, the model allows monitoring and evaluation of content's brand equity, which can be used for the strategic adjustment for the sake of long term value of the content. This study is differentiated from previous study on OSMU and expected to invigorate the further discussion on OSMU in several points. First, it broadens the scope of OSMU discussion as it views OSMU as a series of process including feedback. Second, this study points out the need for integration and coordination of various OSMU activities. Third, the strategic focus is laid on the value maximization of the original content, not 'multi used' content. Fourth, the suggested model emphasize the strategic role of copyright holder who takes the charge of the content brand management. Fifth, the model requires discussion on the components of marketing communication in addition to the content itself, which means the model includes the prospects, not only the content consumers, as the major future source for value creation.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the ramen selection attributes of consumers. This research assigned taste, price, quantity, design, and brand as selection attributes, all of which have already been verified by previous studies as selection attributes when purchasing processed foods. A total of 500 questionnaires were issued, and the survey results were analysed to ensure validity and reliability. A Structural Equation Model was used to test the hypotheses of the study. Based on the analysis, taste, price, quantity, design, and brand had a statistically significant effect on satisfaction. Furthermore, satisfaction had a statistically significant effect on repurchase intention. Among the selection attributes (taste, price, quantity, design, and brand), only price had a statistically significant effect on repurchase intention. However, the influence of the selection attributes on satisfaction varied depending on the consumer's consumption value. In order to analyse the moderating effect of consumption value, the respondent group was divided into a hedonism group and pragmatism group, and analysed. It empirically proved that the hedonistic value-oriented group valued taste, and the practical value-oriented group valued price the most. This study empirically verified the relationship between ramen selection attributes and consumption value, and provided corresponding theoretical and practical implications.

  • The quality characteristics of brand and non-brand Korean beefs, found in retail circulation, were studied via physicochemical and microbiological analysis and sensory tests. The average price of 100 g of brand Korean beef sirloin was 7.6 USD (1USD=950won), while the price of non-brand Korean beef was 3.1 USD. The fat content of the brand beef seemed to be higher, yet the difference was not significant. In both the brand and non-brand beefs, pH levels were approximately 5.27 We found that lightness (Hunter L value) tended to be higher in the brand beef, but again, this difference was not significant. For the cooked beef texture, the brand beef seemed to have lower gumminess, and had significantly less fracturability, than the non-brand beef. Significant differences could not be found with regards to microbiological stability between the two types of beef. In the raw beef sensory test, significant differences were identified for meat color, fat color, fat in muscle, flavor, and general preference. Also, the after cooking sensory test showed that brand beef had better characteristics for color, flavor, juiciness, softness, taste, chewiness, and preference.

Brand loyalty and switching costs are major determinants of inclinations toward incumbent smartphones. This study addresses the research question, "what roles brand loyalty and switching costs play in the purchase of new smartphones?". Design/methodology/approach A research model consisting of six hypotheses for explaining purchase intentions toward new smartphone was proposed considering inclinations toward incumbent brands. The research model was empirically tested based on purchase intentions toward the LG smartphone brand G4, employing a sample of 177 university students in Korea. The data were analyzed using the PLS technique. The results provide support for all hypotheses. Findings First, perceived inclinations toward incumbent smartphone, brand loyalty and switching costs, explained the purchase of new smartphones as well as the perception of new smartphone. Second, brand loyalty was found to play the role of moderator between switching costs and relative advantage in the purchase of new smartphone. Third, perceived aesthetics and price value had considerable influence on the purchase of brand-new smartphone.
