Double-lap-joint 로 2차 보강 접착을 한 FRP Sandwich Beam의 굽힘 거동 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on bending behavior of FRP sandwich beam with 2nd reinforced by double-lap-joint)

  • It has made a special study of bending behavior of F.R.P sandwich beams with bonded 2nd-reinforced plies. Specimens were made of Chopped Mat 300-450, Roving Clothes 570 and the mixture weight ratio of Resin versus hardener was 55:45 for bending tests. it was fabricated by hand lay-up method, hardened for 24 hours in nature, cut specimens according to ASTM standard C393-94 Knowing exact behavior of bonded area's stress and strain depends upon various bonded F.R.P length on which covered lap joint. We also considered shear stress in adhered area and have done computational estimation by ANSYS as well. This study reveals that the length of plies covered lap joint are longer, Failure stresses are remarkably larger.

  • The adhesively bonded tubular single lap joint shows a nonlinear relationship between the applied torque and the resulting displacement under the static-torsional loading, which is induced from the nonlinear properties of the adhesive. However the torque transmission capability in the case of the dynamic-torsional loading is much less than that in the case of the static-torsional loading, the stress level of the adhesive is usually in the region of the linear stress and strain relation and the stress distributions of the joint can be obtained by the linear analysis. In this paper, a failure model for the adhesively bonded tubular single lap joint under the torsional fatigue loading was developed with respect to the adhesive thickness that was a critical factor in predicting the static torque transional-cyclic loadings was proposed.

Al/Fe 이종금속 접합부의 부식특성 (Corrosion Assessment of Al/Fe Dissimilar Metal Joint)

  • The use of light-weight Al alloys in the automotive industry is increasing to meet requirements for fuel efficiency and emission reduction. Joining Al alloy to the conventional steel sheet is also very important issue with the increased use of Al alloy, and several joining processes have been introduced to enhance joining strength between dissimilar metals. This paper deals with a galvanic corrosion in the dissimilar metal joining. Salt spray tests up to 2000 hours were conducted on a self-piercing rivet, spot welded, adhesive bonded and weld-bonded joints, and cross-sections and tensile shear strength according the salt spray duration were analyzed at every 500-hour. Self-piercing rivet joint had relative low initial strength but the joint strength did not change regardless of the salt spray duration. The strength of other joints (spot welded, adhesive bonded and weld-bonded joints) decreased with the increase of salt spray duration and the corrosion behaviour of each joint was discussed.

접착제 접합된 자연섬유강화 복합재료의 파괴강도 특성에 미치는 접착제 필릿의 영향 (Effect of Spew Fillet on Failure Strength Properties of Natural Fiber Reinforced Composites Including Adhesive Bonded Joints)

  • This paper is concerned with a study on fracture strength of composites in an adhesive single lap joint. The tests were carried out on joint specimens made with hybrid stacked composites consisting of the polyester and bamboo natural fiber layer. The main objective of this work was to evaluate the fracture properties adjacent to adhesive bonded joint of natural fiber reinforced composite specimens. From the results, natural fiber reinforced composites have lower tensile strength than the original polyester. But tensile-shear strength of natural fiber reinforced composites with bamboo layer far from adhesive bond is as high as that of the original polyester adhesive bonded joints. Spew filet at the end of the overlap reduced the stress concentration at the bonded area. Spew fillet and position of bamboo natural fiber layer have a peat effect on the tensile-shear strength of natural fiber reinforced composites including adhesive bonded joints.

브레이징한 2상 스테인리스강 UNS32550의 미세조직 및 기계적 특성 (Microstructure and Mechanical Property of Brazed Joint in Duplex Stainless Steel, UNS32550)

  • The bonding phenomena and mechanical property of duplex stainless steel during brazing have been investigated. The UNS32550 was used for base metal, and the MBF50 was used for insert metal. Brazing was carried out under the various conditions (brazing temperature : 1473K, 1498K, holding time : 0∼1.8ks). There were various microconstituents in the bonded interlayer because of reaction between liquid insert metal and base metal. In the early stage of brazing, BN is formed in the bonded interlayer and base metal near the bonded layer. Cr made is formed in the bonded interlayer. The amount of BN and Cr nitrides decrease with the increase of bonding temperature and holding time. Superior shear strength of 550MPa is obtained by restraining the formation of nitrides. 차체접합과 관련한 접합 강도 평가 (Strength Evaluation of Adhesive Bonded Joint for Car Body)

  • The evaluation of joint fatigue strength of light weight materials for electrical vehicle body has been performed through single lap joint tests with the design parameters such as joint style, adherend, bonding overlap length and bonding thickness. Fatigue strength was evaluated through 5-Hz, tension-tension, load controlled test with the stress ratio zero value. It is experimentally observed that fatigue strength of joint increases for the increase of overlap length. The combinations of Al-Al and Al-FRP adherends show that fatigue strength of joint is hardly changed for the increase of bonding thickness, but FRP-FRP adherend specimen shows that fatigue strength of joint increases after decreases for the increase of bonding thickness. Al-Al adherend specimen has much higher fatigue length than Al-FRP and FRP-FRP adherend specimens. Riveting at adgesive bonded joint gives little effect on fatigue strength.

단면 겹치기 접착 조인트에 존재하는 비대칭 결함 탐지를 위한 탄성파 유한요소 시뮬레이션 (Finite Element Simulation of Elastic Waves for Detecting Anti-symmetric Damages in Adhesively-Bonded Single Lap Joint)

  • This study presents a finite element simulation of elastic waves for detecting anti-symmetric damages in an adhesively-bonded single lap joint. Plane strain elements were used for modeling adherents (aluminum) and adhesives (epoxy). Three types of damage were introduced: thickness reduction, elasticity deterioration, and voids in the adhesive layers, and two excitation and reception arrangements (ER1 and ER2) were used to investigate the detectability of the damage. The simulation showed that symmetrically located damage, such as a thickness reduction, can be detected by one excitation and one reception arrangement (ER1) and anti-symmetric damages, such as elasticity deterioration and voids, can be detected by modified two-point elastic wave excitation (ER2). Compared with the ER1 arrangement, the ER2 arrangement does not require a baseline signal for damage detection; hence, an efficient method of anti-symmetric damage detection in an adhesively-bonded single lap joint is proposed.

  • 본 연구에서는 몇 가지 접합 방법에 따라 일방향 복합재료 단일 겹치기 접합 조인트의 파손 과정, 모드 및 강도를 실험적으로 평가하였다 접합 방법으로는 접착제 없는 동시성형, 접착제를 사용한 동시성형 및 이차 접합의 세 가지를 고려하였다 또한 이차 접합 조인트에서 몇 가지 파라미터의 영향도 살펴보았다. 접착제 없는 동시성형 시편은 가장 우수한 조인트 강도를 나타내었다. 이차접합 조인트에서는 접착제 층의 점진적인 파손이 발생하였다. 접착제의 재료 및 접합 강도가 상대적으로 강한 필름 접착제의 동시성형 조인트는 갑작스런 층간분리 파손이 발생하였으며 이차 접합 조인트보다 더 낮은 파손 강도를 나타내었다. 이차 집합 조인트에서 층간분리 파손이 발생하지 않은 것은 접착제 층에서의 균열 진전 및 점진적 파손이 층간분리 파손을 방지한 것으로 보인다. 따라서 복합재료 접합 조인트의 파손 강도는 접착제의 재료 강도 또는 접착 성능과 항상 비례하지 않으며 이것은 복합재료가 층간 분리 파손에 약하기 때문이다.

A stress-function variational approach toward CFRP -concrete interfacial stresses in bonded joints

  • This paper presents an innovative stress-function variational approach in formulating the interfacial shear and normal stresses in an externally bonded concrete joint using carbon fiber-reinforced plastic (CFRP) plies. The joint is subjected to surface traction loadings applied at both ends of the concrete substrate layer. By introducing two interfacial shear and normal stress functions on the CFRP-concrete interface, based on Euler-Bernoulli beam idea and static stress equations of equilibrium, the entire stress fields of the joint were determined. The complementary strain energy was minimized in order to solve the governing equation of the joint. This yields an ordinary differential equation from which the interfacial normal and shear stresses were proposed explicitly, satisfying all the multiple traction boundary conditions. Lamination theory for composite materials was also employed to obtain the interfacial stresses. The proposed approach was validated by the analytic models in the literature as well as through a comprehensive computational code generated by the authors. Furthermore, a numerical verification was carried out via the finite element software ABAQUS. In the end, a scaling analysis was conducted to analyze the interfacial stress field dependence of the joint upon effective issues using the devised code.

단면 겹치기 이음 시험에 의한 경량구조물용 접착 이음강도의 평가 (Strength Evaluation of Adhesive Bonded Joint for Light Weight Structure by Single-Lab Joint Test)

  • The bonding strength evaluation of light weight materials for electrical vehicle applications has been performed through single lap joint tests in which the design parameters such as fillet, joint style, adherend, bonding overlap length,bonding thickness, and environmental condition(soaking time in $25^{\circ}C$ water) are considered. It is experimentally oberved that lap shear strength of joint increases for higher fillet height, longer overlap length, and thinner bonding layer thickness. Al-Al adherend combination shows much higher lap shear strength than AL-FRP and FRP-FRP adherend combinations. Riveting at adhesive bonded joint of AL-AL adherend combination makes lap shear strength decrease. Effect of soaking time on lap shear strength is negligible.
