The Investigation of the Plasma Sprayed Coatings for the Application of OG Cooling Tube in Steel Making Plant

  • Several plasma-sprayed ceramic coatings with two- and three-layers were characterized and tested for the application of cooling tube coatings of oxygen convert gas recovery system (OG cooling system) in the steel making plant. Thermal cycling tests using a torch heating with compressed air cooling were carried out and characterized before and after the tests. The effects of metallic bond coat as well as ceramic top coat were also studied. Possible failure mechanisms with low carbon steel substrate were assessed in term of microstructure, porosity, bond strength, thermal expansion coefficient, and the phase transformation. Finally, the results of field tests at the OG cooling system are presented and discussed their microstructural degradation. Test results have shown that three-layered coatings perform better than two-layered coatings.

  • Thermal barrier systems are susceptible to instability of the thermally grown oxide(TGO) at the interface between the bond coat(BC) and the thermal barrier coating(TBC). The instabilities have been linked to thermal cycling and initial geometrical imperfections, as well as to misfit strains due to oxide growth and expansion misfit. In this work, deformation of TGO near a surface groove due to thermal cycling has been observed at high temperatures, $1100^{circ}C$, $1150^{circ}C$, $1200^{circ}C$. The effect of peak temperature and the thickness of substrate are presented.

  • Behavior of stoichiometric and near-stoichiometric NiAl at plasma spray deposition, without and with a bond coat, for coating layers realization on a low alloyed steel substrate, has been investigated. In all variants, NiAl particle melting and subsequent welding at the impact with substrate were observed, forming a relatively compact and adherent coating layer with the NiAl stability maintaining - all assuring the coating layer oxidation and corrosion resistance. Good results from these points of view, also validated through corrosion tests, were obtained for 45:55 Ni:Al composition without a bond coat but adopting an Ar protective surrounding of plasma jet.

Lifetime Performance of EB-PVD Thermal Barrier Coatings with Coating Thickness in Cyclic Thermal Exposure

  • The effects of coating thickness on the delamination and fracture behavior of thermal barrier coating (TBC) systems were investigated with cyclic flame thermal fatigue (FTF) and thermal shock (TS) tests. The top and bond coats of the TBCs were prepared by electron beam-physical vapor deposition and low pressure plasma spray methods, respectively, with a thickness ratio of 2:1 in the top and bond coats. The thicknesses of the top coat were 200 and $500{\mu}m$, and those of the bond coat were 100 and $250{\mu}m$. FTF tests were performed until 1140 cycles at a surface temperature of $1100^{\circ}C$ for a dwell time of 5 min. TS tests were also done until more than 50 % delamination or 1140 cycles with a dwell time of 60 min. After the FTF for 1140 cycles, the interface microstructures of each TBC exhibited a sound condition without cracking or delamination. In the TS, the TBCs of 200 and $500{\mu}m$ were fully delaminated (> 50 %) within 171 and 440 cycles, respectively. These results enabled us to control the thickness of TBC systems and to propose an efficient coating in protecting the substrate in cyclic thermal exposure environments.

HIP처리가 플라즈마 용사된 열차폐 코팅층의 접착강도와 고온특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Hot Isostatic Pressing on Bond Strength and Elevated Temperature Characteristics of Plasma sprayed TBC)

  • HIP처리가 가스터빈 고정익 등 고온부품에 적용되는 열차폐 코팅층의 접착강도 및 고온특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 시편은 IN738LC 초합금 표면에 8wt%Y$_2$O$_3$-$ZrO_2$분말을 플라즈마 용사법으로 코팅한 후 $1200^{\circ}C$, 100MPa의 고온, 고압에서 4시간 동안 HIP 처리하여 준비하였다. 실험결과 HIP 처리된 코팅의 경우 미세균열과 기공이 상당량 감소하였으며 EDX분석을 통해 계면에서 원자간 상호확산이 발생한 것을 확인하였다. 이러한 코팅층의 치밀화 및 상호확산으로 인해 HIP처리된 코팅층의 접착강도는 48% 이상 크게 증가하였으며 조직 또한 균질화 되었다. 반면 가열과 냉각이 반복되는 환경에서 코팅층의 내구력은 HIP 처리된 경우가 다소 저하되었다. 이는 코팅과 모재와의 열팽창 차이로 인한 변형을 완화시켜주는 기공과 미세균열이 감소되었기 때문으로 판단된다.

하악 전치 설측면에 대한 다양한 접착시스템의 접착강도 (Bond strength of different bonding systems to the lingual surface enamel of mandibular incisors)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 서로 다른 종류의 접착시스템과 법랑질 보호제 등이 설측 브라켓의 인장강도에 영향을 미치는지 알아보는데 있다. 75개의 발치된 하악 전치를 5개의 그룹으로 임의로 나눈 후 설측 브라켓을 부착하였다. Group 1은 Transbond XT를, Group 2는 Transbond XT와 함께 불소 유리레진(Ortho-coat)을 Group 3는 Transbond XT와 Chlorohexidine varnish (Cervitec Plus)를 Group 4는 광중합 접착제(Aegis Ortho)를 Group 5는 antimicrobial self-etching primer (Clearfil Protect Bond)을 사용하였다. 불소유리 레진이나 Chlorohexidine varnish의 사용유무는 접착력에 영향을 미치지 못하였다. Group 5이 다른 그룹에 비해 접착력과 접착제 잔류지수(adhesive remnant index, ARI)가 통계적으로 유의하게 높았다 (p < 0.001). 법랑질 보호제 적용 시 설측 브라켓의 접착력에 부정적인 영향을 미치지 못하였다. 이상의 결과로 이번에 사용한 제품들은 설측 교정치료 기간 동안 환자의 구강위생을 개선시킬 수 있어 환자와 술자에게 도움을 줄 수 있을 것이다. 그러나 에나멜 층이 얇은 경우 Clearfil Protect Bond의 과도한 접착강도에 대해 고려해야 할 것이다.

수종의 One-bottle 상아질 결합제의 전단 결합 강도에 관한 연구 (THE STUDY ON SHEAR BOND STRENGTHS OF VARIOUS ONE-BOTTLE DENTIN ADHESIVES)

  • 새로운 상아질 결합제인 5세대 상아질 결합제는 산 부식, 전 처치, 그리고 접착의 복잡한 과정을 줄여줌으로써 시술 과정이 간단하고 시간이 단축되며 시술 도중의 오염에 대한 가능성을 줄여준다는 점에서 유용성이 부각되고 있다. One-bottle 상아질 결합제에 관한 기존의 연구들이 아세톤, 에탄올 등의 용매를 포함하는 상아질 결합제를 중심으로 이루어져 본 실험에서는 water-based 상아질 결합제를 우치(牛齒)의 상아질에 적용하여 얻어지는 상아질 결합력을 전단 결합 강도 측정과 주사 전자현미경 관찰을 통해 다음과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 1. 전단결합강도의 측정결과 II군 IV군, I군, III군의 순서로 II군에서 다소 높은 전단강도를 보였으나, 모든 군들간에는 유의 차가 없었다(p>0.05). 2. 주사 전자 현미경 소견에서 II군과 IV군에서 서로 유사한 양상의 잘 형성된 혼화층이 관찰되었으며 레진 테그의 측방 가지 또한 다수 관찰할 수 있었다.

Non-Chrome Magni 565 코팅 피막의 특성과 내식성 (Corrosion Resistance of Non-Chrome Magni 565 Coating and Characteristics of Its Coating Film)

  • In addition to the basic properties of the base and top coating agents, corrosion resistance of non-chrome magni 565 coating and characteristics of coating film when coated to steel substrate were studied. The system had a good wettability at room temperature. Moreover, both the contact angle and surface tension were affected little by the viscosity of coating agent and surface roughness of the steel substrate. And the samples coated with optimal conditions showed a great corrosion resistance in salt spray test with 1500 hours or longer of initial appearance time of rust. The coating film was composed of overlapping layer of zinc and aluminium flakes, and the thickness of base coat increased with an increase of base coat viscosity. Based on the C-F peaks of 1,1-Difluoroethaen homo-polymer, it was thought that the base coat was an inorganic polymer bond layer. Meanwhile, the top coat showed C-F peaks of polytetrafluoroethylene with C-H peaks of phenol in FT-IR analysis. From the lower weight loss of base coat in TG analysis, it was thought that cross linking density of base coat was larger than that of top coat. It was thought that the small exothermic reactions observed in DSC curves were due to the thermosetting resins contained in the coating agents. Compared to the non-coated specimen, the coated sample showed more higher polarization resistance and corrosion potential with lower corrosion current density.

택코트 첨가 가열아스팔트 혼합물의 고주파 동적저항 특성 및 접착성능 평가에 대한 연구 (A Study for Evaluation of Hot Mixed Asphalt Mixtures with Tack-Coat Regarding High-Frequency Dynamic Resistance Performance and Bonding Property)

  • PURPOSES : A tack coat has been utilized to increase the bond performance between the surface layer and base course (intermediate course) at various road pavement sites. This is similarly true in other nations. Based on this connection, the objective of the present study is to evaluate the properties of hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures with an RSC-4 or BD-Coat and determine the application rate of the tack coat. METHODS : The HMA specimens were manufactured using superpave gyratory compaction. The HMA mixtures were composed of a 5-cm thick surface layer and a 10-cm thick base course. An impact hammer resonance test (IHRT) and a static load shear test were conducted to evaluate the performance of the HMA mixtures with a tack coat. From these tests, the dynamic moduli related to the high-frequency resistance and interlayer shear strength (ISS) of HMA could be obtained. RESULTS : The results of the dynamic moduli of HMA are discussed based on the resonance frequency (RF). To check the accuracy of the IHRT, we conducted a coherence analysis. A direct shear test using the application of a static load test was carried out to evaluate the interlayer shear strength (ISS) of HMA. CONCLUSIONS : The maximum ISS was demonstrated at an RSC-4 application rate of 462 gsm, and the maximum dynamic modulus was demonstrated at an RSC-4 application rate of 306 gsm. By averaging the results of the ISS, the maximum ISS values were obtained when a BD-Coat application rate of 602 gsm was applied.

Unground enamel에 대한 all-in-one adhesive의 1회 또는 2회 적용이 미세인장 결합강도에 미치는 영향 (Effects of one or two applications of all-in-one adhesive on microtensile bond strength to unground enamel)

  • 이 연구에서는 미세인장결합강도 실험과 주사전자현미경을 이용하여 unground enamel에 대한 all-in-one adhesive의 1회 또는 2회 적용에 따른 효과를 평가하였다. 발거된 하악 대구치의 설측 치관부를 사용하여 3개씩 5개의 군으로 분류하였다. SE군은 Clearfil$^{tm}$ SE Bond를 적용하였다. LP1 군, LP2 군은 Adper Prompt L-Pop$^{tm}$을 각각 1회 , 2회 적용하였다. XN1 군, XN2 군은 Xeno$^{R}$III를 각각 1회, 2회 적용하였다. 그런 다음 복합 레진 Z100을 적층 충전하였다. 법랑질 표면의 접착제를 아세톤으로 제거하고 주사 전자 현미경을 이용하여 산 부식 양상을 관찰하였다 미세인장결합강도 측정을 위해 표본을 절단하여 레진과 치아의 접착 계면이 1 mm$^2$이 되도록 하여 실험하였다. 실험의 결과는 One-way ANOVA를 사용해 분석한 다음 Duncan's post-hoc test로 사후 검정 하였다. 본 연구의 결과 all-in-one adhesive의 1회와 2회 적용간에는 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았으며 two-step self-etching adhesive와 all-in-one adhesive의 산 부식 양상 모두 얕고 불규칙 하였다.
