태양플레어망원경의 관측 시스템 (OBSERVATION SYSTEM OF SOLAR FLARE TELESCOPE)

  • SOFT($\underline{So}lar\;\underline{F}lare\;\underline{T}elescope$) installed at BOAO(Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory) is purposed for observing solar active regions using four refractors on single mount with a $400"\times300"$ field of view: Two refractors with a diameter of 15cm(f15) are observe the white light and $H\alpha$, and the other two refractors with a diameter of 20cm(f8) are observe the magnetic field distribution and Doppler shifts at the solar chromosphere. Three Lyot filters, one of the most important observational instruments, are installed on the optical rails for VMG, LMG, and $H\alpha$ that possible to very narrow pass band observation under high precision stability of temperature. From the combination of KD*P and quarter wave plate in the Lyot filter possible observe the magnetic fields strength and doppler shifts by using the characteristics of polarization components. In this paper, we introduce the basic characteristics, optical system, and monitor system of the SOFT.

VARIABLE STARS IN A FIELD OF THE OLD OPEN CLUSTER M67 PHOTOMETRIC PRECISION OF THE BOAO 1.8M TELESCOPE

  • We present test results of time-series CCD photometry to investigate the photometric precision of the BOAO (Bohyunsan Optical Astronomy Observatory) 1.8m telescope. A well-known field of the old open cluster M67, which includes two pulsating blue stragglers and two W UMa type binaries, was monitored for 3.5 hours on February 22, 1996. We have collected 148 V frames and 3 B frames. Photometric noises which consist mainly of photon noise and scintillation noise, were lowered down to about 1.9 mmag for stars of $10.\;^m5$ in M67 with exposure time of 20 seconds. From the C-M diagram for M67, a number of observational properties were derived; E(B-V) = 0.03, (V-Mv)o = 9.6, Age = 4 Gyr. We obtained light curves for four known variable stars and confirmed their variational characteristics. The pulsating blue stragglers show a low amplitude (about 0.01 mag) of light variation.

  • In this paper we present a newly improved telescope control software and a newly developed data analysis software package for effective use of the Solar Flare Telescope(SOFT) The telescope control software permits us to make not only auto tacking of the SOFT, but also quantitative measurement of the solar irradiation, allowing us to provide weather monitorings. In addition we introduce an IDL widget software package for both monochromatioc (MONO version) and polarimetric data (VMG version) analysis. The MONO version is capable of loading FITS files, changing colors and contrast, image processing, displaying plots, and saving displayed plots by selected formats The VMG version, on the other hand provides a calibration of polarimetric data and plots of reduced vector magnetic fields.

  • We tested the characteristics of the BOAO Medium Dispersion Spectrograph (MDS) such as the CCD capabilities, wavelength shift by gravity direction variation, slit illumination function and efficiency. Then we calculated the appropriate exposure time to obtain the given S/N ratio for several given magnitudes. Also the remaining problems to be improved were discussed.

BX ANDROMEDAE의 시선속도 연구 (A STUDY OF THE RADIAL VELOCITY OF BX ANDROMEDAE)

  • 한국천문연구원 보현산 천문대(Bohyunsan Optical Astronomical Observatory, BOAO)의 BOES(Bohyunsan Optical Echelle Spectrograph)를 이용하여 2003년 2월 26-27일 이틀간에 걸쳐 BX And의 고분산 관측을 수행하였다. 이 관측을 통하여 얻은 스펙트럼은 총 38개로 위상 $0.1{\sim}0.3$에 이르는 구간을 제외하고는 전위상에 걸쳐 골고루 관측이 이루어졌다. 시선속도를 구하기 위하여 BF(Broadening Function)와 CCF(Cross-Correlation Function)를 이용한 방법 이 모두 사용되었다. CCF를 이용하였을 때는 주성의 시선속도만을 얻은 반면, BF인 경우, 주성과 반성의 시선속도 모두를 잘 결정할 수 있었다. 새로운 시선속도곡선으로부터 주성과 반성의 최대 시선속도를 각각 $K_1=96.1km/s$$K_2=196.6km/s$으로 얻었으며, 이를 Bell et al.(1990)의 측광해와 결합하여 BX And의 절대 물리량을 새롭게 결정하였다.

GPS에 의한 보현산 천문대의 정밀좌표 결정 (THE DETERMINATION OF PRECISE COORDINATES FOR BOHYUNSAN OPTICAL ASTRONOMY OBSERVATORY BY GPS)

  • GPS률 이용하여 보현산 천문대 2지점의 3차윈 정밀좌표를 WGS 84 측지좌표계상에서 결정하였다. 보현산 천문대 2지점에서 1지점은 1.8m 망윈경의 받침대 중앙이고 나머지 l지점은 1.8m 망원경 돔 옆의 언덕에 위치해 있다, 이 연구를 위해셔 1993년 12월18일부터 1 12월22일까지 5일 동안 천문대 GPS 관측소와 보현산 천문대 2지점에셔 동시에 GPS 관측을 실시하였다. 관측에 사용한 장비는 천문대에서 보유하고 있는 3대의 Trimble 4000SST GPS 수신기이다. 관측자료는 Trimble의 자료처리 소프트웨어인 TRIMVEC-PLUS의 MBPS 방식에 의하여 Triple Difference Ll/L2 ION Free 기법으로 처리 되었다. 이 연구를 통하여, 보현산 천문대 1.8m 망원경 축의 WGS 84 좌표값은 위도, 경도, 높이 각각 $36^{circ}9'53".1943N\pm0."0018,\;128^{circ}58'35".6829E\pm0."0029,\;1162.47m\pm0.04m$로 결정되었다.

태양 정온홍염에서 미세 구조의 공간적 규모 (THE SPATIAL SIZES OF FINE STRUCTURES IN A QUIESCENT PROMINENCE)

  • The size of fine structures in the quiescent prominence that appeared on August 16, 1992 has been estimated using power spectra generated from intensity variations of Ha images of the lower part of the prominence, which were taken with a G1 CCD camera attached to 25cm coronagraph at Norikura Coronal Station in Japan. The lower part of the prominence has shown a distinct intensity variation with optical thickness of $\tau=1\~5$. Our analysis yields a mean size of fine structures ranging from 350 km to 1,000 km, in good agreement with Hirayama(1985) and Zirker & Koutchmy(1989, 1991).
