The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of the factor structure in Clothing Silhouette Image and the differences of Image Evaluation related to Grouping of Line and Grouping of Body Emphasis using Silhouette Image Factor and Life Space as variables. Clothing Silhouette Image was estimated by the photographs of 9 Life Spaces ${\times}$ 23 Clothing Silhouettes with 15 semantic differentiated by-polar scales. The major finding were : The factor structure of Clothing Silhouette Image were found to include 4 factor dimensions-Capability Evaluation, Function, Activity. It was clear that Silhouette Image were affected by Life Spaces. There were the differences of Image Evaluation related to Grouping of Line and Grouping of Body Emphasis. There were the differences of Life Space Evaluation related to Grouping of Line and Grouping of Body Emphasis. Therefore it is important to considerate Life Space for selecting Clothing Silhouette.
The purpose of this study is to analyze the image evaluation of tailored jacket according to the body type and the degree of satisfaction with the body of middle-aged women. The subjects used for this study were three hundred and twenty three middle-aged women ranging from 35 to 50 years old. We measured their bodies and asked them report to the questionnaire. The results are as follows. There was a significant difference in the image evaluation of tailored jacket according to the body type of middle-aged women. The women of the type I evaluated that X silhouette was the most fascinating, elegant, active, and tender, and the women of the type II, A silhouette. The women of the type III evaluated that H silhouette was the most fascinating, elegant, active, and tender, and the women of the type IV, H silhouette. There was a meaningful difference in the image evaluation of tailored jacket according to the degree of satisfaction with their bodies. As satisfied with the girth of the body, weight, and figure they evaluated X silhouette was more attractive, graceful, active, and soft.
The purpose of this study was to analyze changes to body measurements and silhouettes after wearing an early 19th century women's corset. Two types of corsets were tested. Changes in body size and silhouette were compared based on the levels of tightening strength of the corset. The tightening strength was adjusted in 4 steps by making the length of back fastening string 10-40 cm shorter than the standard. The silhouette was compared with the front silhouette and the side silhouette. The results were as follows. After wearing the experimental 19th century corsets, the chest circumference and front interscye length increased. However, the chest circumference did not increase proportionally to the tightening strength. The underbust circumference, waist circumference, and back interscye length also decreased. The waist width was decreased to create a slim front silhouette. The change in the body silhouette differed depending on the style of the experimental corset. The experimental corset made with the six-piece torso pattern changed the posture so that the shoulders were pulled back and the chest was pushed forward. The experimental corset with the side bodice pattern resulted in the subject's shoulders reclining backward and the chest and abdomen extending forward. The results of this study show that women's body sizes and silhouettes could be changed by wearing the early 19th century corsets, but the changes in body size and silhouette vary depending on the wearer's individual body type or corset style.
The main purpose is to study lines on different body types and to disguise any imperfections by using diverse princess lines. For body type H, whether the waist interval is narrow or wide, the princess line us situated comparatively narrow interval, H-line silhouette appeared to show sum waist but the differences are not significant 3. The illusion of the hip were studied by fixating the width of the skirt and varying the locations of princess line and waist widths. For the location of both armhole and shoulder princess line in H and A-line silhouette, the narrow shoulder width and the waist appeared to show narrow hips. mile they are wide appeared to show wide hips. 4. This study compared and analyzed the interaction visual effect of skirt silhouettes and skirt length by body mass index. This study provides basic data for women in their 20s and 30s to choose suitable skirts for their image. Twelve skirts were made, consisting of two categories of body mass index, three types of skirt silhouette and two levels of skirt length. Men and women in their 20s and 30s evaluated the visual effects of the experimental skirts using a questionnaire. The interaction effect of the visual effect following the skirt's length and silhouette by body mass index were analyzed by three-way ANOVA. Overall, a shorter the body and lower body length resulted in better vertical effects in normal weight. In terms of horizontal effects, such as lower body thickness and full-body shape, the 40 cm skirt, 50 cm tight, and A-line skirt were generally shown as better images. Skirt length helped supplement body type rather than silhouette in the overweight section. When the length was 40 cm, three skirts showed a more positive image. This study provide results for women in their 20s and 30s to choose skirts that are suitable for their image.

For the Y body type in A-line silhouette design, the Princess line locations of 1/3 and 1/2 points of the armhole exhibited the narrowest waist width because it displayed the hourglass effect. When the waist width was fixed at 10 cm, H body type did not exhibit any significant differences between designs. For Y body type, A-line silhouette design with the Princess line origination point at 1/3 down the armhole exhibited the narrowest waist width. 3. The illusion effects of the hip were studied by fixating the width of the skirt and varying the locations of Princess line and waist widths. In H-line skirt silhouette designs, all two body types exhibited narrow hips when the Princess line origination points were at 1/3 and 1/2 way down the armhole. For A-line skirt silhouette, H body type exhibited narrow hips when narrow waist design with the Princess line originating from 1/2 point in the shoulder was shown. Y body type exhibited narrow hips when narrow waist design with the Princess line originating from 1/3 point of the armhole and 2/3 point of the shoulder. 4. The effective construction for ready-made clothes is one of the central concerns of both consumer and manufactures in today's apparel industry. So in order to reduce the burden of stocks and increase clothing fitness, systematic information on typical body size and somatotypes is essential. This study was performed to provide fundamental data on junior-high school girls' somatotype by classifying the lower body somatotype and analyzing the characteristics of each somatotype. The subject were 236 Korean junior-high school girls. The subject were directly measured anthropometrically and indirectly analyzed photographically. By direct measurement, 5 factors were extracted through factor analysis and the subject were classified into 4 duster as their lower body front silhouette. By indirect measurement, 5 factors ore extracted through factor analysis and the subject were classified into 3 cluster as their lower body side silhouette. After combining the body types of the front and the side silhouette, we selected 4 basic body types out of combination.
In this study, we prepared reference data needed for clothing design for middle-aged women by analyzing body satisfaction of their body shape, which had been classified by collecting body features of middle-aged women. As for the study method, we have set five scales from 'never satisfied' to 'very much satisfied,' after analyzing body features of middle-aged women by measuring their body shape through the body meter and auxiliary tools. We used the SPSS 12.0 statistics program, and the results are the following: Body shapes of middle-aged women can be classified into the following four types. A middle-age women with an 'A silhouette' has a normal height, but fat nether limbs. A 'Y silhouette' is short with a fat upper body. The 'O silhouette' is short with fat nether limbs and upper body, and 'H silhouette' is tall and thin. Body shape I has displayed satisfaction with her own body shape, and body shape II showed the most dissatisfaction compared to other body shapes. Body shape III showed satisfaction on all items except face size and breast size, whereas body shape IV was dissatisfied with her face size, neck length, shape of her breast, waist, and buttocks. The result of this study is expected to contribute in accomplishing clothing production that will satisfy the desire of the consumers in the clothing business, while being utilized as the basic data for clothing design that fits their body shape by grasping the changing patterns of their body shape.
The purpose of this study was to find out differences of visual evaluation according to perceiver's gender, clothing silhouette, and body exposure of the lingerie look. Subjects were 246 college males and females in Seoul. The visual evaluation of the lingerie look was divided into four image dimensions: elegance, individuality, fascination, and activity. Silhouette had significant influences on the perception of elegance and activity. The hourglass silhouettes were evaluated more elegant and active than the tubular silhouettes. The body exposure had significant influences on the evaluation of elegance, individuality, fascination, and activity. The shoulder and the back exposure were estimated high in fascination, the breast exposure low in elegance, and the waist exposure high in individuality and activity. Individuality, fascination, and activity had interaction effects by perceiver's gender and body exposure. Males estimated the waist exposure to be more fascinating than females, and females estimated the breast exposure to be less active than males. There were significant interaction effects in evaluating the 4 image dimensions according to the silhouette and body exposure. The shoulder and the leg exposure of the hourglass silhouettes were estimated more elegant than those of the tubular silhouettes. Dimensions of clothing image which influenced on preference of lingerie look were different between males and females.
In order to investigate the influence of being self-consciousness of one's body size on clothing behavior we measured body size of Korean female college students directly and examined by questionnaire the degree of being self-conciousness of their body size the aspired clothing behavior and the actual clothing behavior. In addition after classifying the subjects into groups according to the degree of obesity we also examined the difference in the actual clothing behavior among the groups./ The results are as follows: 1) On the item of girth of the body parts the subjects felt thicker in the proximal and lower part of the body than in the distal and upper part of the body. And with respect to the style which exposes body silhouette the disparity between the aspired and actual clothing behavior was greater in the parts that the subjects felt thick. 2) After investigating the relationship between the aspired and the actual clothing behavior we found out that the style which subjects wanted to put on but actually did not was the style that exposes body silhouette and the style which subjects didn't want to put on but actually did was the style covers the body silhouette. 3) There was significant correlation between the subjects' consciousness of their body size and their actual clothing behavior. The self-consciousness of body size on actual dressing tend to influence the clothing for lower body more than the other parts. 4) The subjects were classified into lean normal and obese groups. There were significant differences among the groups in the frequency of wearing the clothing that expose body silhouette. The obese group had a tendency to avoid this clothing style.
