The purpose of this study is to evaluate the differences of visual evaluatations by variations in the location of the waistline of the basic skirt. In the main experiment, we make 6 samples: the 1cm-natural waistline, the 3cm-natural waistline, the 5cm-natural waistline, the 7cm-natural waistline, the 9cm-natural waistline, the 11cm-natural waistline. The data has been obtained from 43 fashion design majors. The data has analyzed by Frequency, Factor Analysis, Anova, Scheffe's test. The results of the experiment are as follows. 1. The visual effects by the location of the waistline are composed of 4 factors: the shape of the abdomen, the shape of the pelvic, the length of the upper body, and the vertical effect of the lower body. 2. The visual effects by the location of the waistline have significant differnces all factors. The location of the waistline, which have the best visual effect, are the 3cm-waistline, the 5cm-waistline, and the 7cm-waistline. These location do not emphase the shape of the abdominal and pelvic regions, but they make the length of the lower part look slimmer and longer. 3. The visual image by the location of the waistline are corn posed of 3 factors: modesty, attractiveness, comfort. 4. The visual image by the location of the waistline have significant differnces all factors. In the visual image, the 1cm-waistline and the 5cm-waistline are evaluated badly in the aspects of modesty, attractiveness, comfort. The purpose of the study was to investigate jean consumption among middle-aged Korean women and the characteristics of consumers as potential jean consumers. The data were collected from the survey of 238 Korean women aged 45 to 64 years old. The respondents prefer outlet store to other retail outlets and wear jeans mainly for travel, grocery shopping, and outing. The main reason for not wearing jeans is body change, which leads to poor fit in abdomen and waist area. The sample was clustered into two groups based on interest in jeans: high-interest and low-interest group. From the examination of group differences, the high-interest group rated conformity/brand reputation, scarcity, and attractiveness of appearance significantly higher compared to the low-interest group among the five clothing benefits pursued. No difference was found in obesity and body satisfaction. Group differences were found in recent purchase, price, number of jeans owned, and frequency of wearing jeans. The results suggest the characteristics of the potential jean market among middle-aged women in Korea. Implications are discussed.

According to the functions of the functional cosmetics, skin whitening products, anti-wrinkle products, and suntan & sunscreen products are manufactured. In order to manufacture and import the functional cosmetics in Korea, the approval process in KFDA is necessary. The review process in KFDA is performed based on The Korea Food and Drug Administration Notification 2007-44, "The Regulation of Reviewing the Functional Cosmetics" (June 29, 2007). The purpose of this study is to classify men in their 20s by their sex role attitudes, and to study their appearance management behavior and inner characteristic variables such as socio-cultural attitudes on appearance and bodily image, which are expected to influence the appearance management behavior of each classified group. For this, a survey of 393 males in the 20s in Seoul and metropolitan areas was conducted. Factor analysis, Cronbach's alpha coefficient, and F-test were conducted on the data. First, as a result of analysis on sex role attitudes, four groups were categorized: Masculinity, Femininity, Androgyny and Undifferentiation. Second, the analysis of individual variables resulted in appearance management behavior being separated into five categories: Interests in fashion, Proper choice of clothing, Importance of bodily attractiveness, Pursuit for personality and Complementation of physical weaknesses. The socio-cultural attitude on 'appearance' was sub-categorized into Internalization, and Awareness, while 'body image' was divided into Cognitive behavioral and Affective aspects. Regarding differences in socio-cultural attitudes for appearance, body image and metro-sexual lifestyle attitudes, the androgyny group produced the highest scores. Based on these results, it can be concluded that people who take care of their physical appearance, cope effectively with social and circumstantial requirements for happiness and success, and respond flexibly and affirmatively.

The research method was survey and the subjects were 656 male and female adolescents in Daejeon. The questionnaire consisted of 4 measuring instruments; body image, social self concept, clothing behaviors and demographic attribution. The data were analyzed by Cronbach's ${\alpha}$, factor analysis, t-test, and path analysis, using SPSS program. The results were as follows. First, adolescents generally evaluated their bodies as middle level on their physical attractiveness and had positive social self concept. And high school students had more positive body image and social self concept than middle school students. Second, on clothing behaviors, 5 dimensions were emerged: clothing interest, psychological dependency of clothing, clothing ostentation, clothing conformity, and clothing satisfaction. Third, there were close correlations among body image, social self concept, and clothing behaviors; body image and social self concept had close interrelationship each other. However, body image had close relationship with only clothing satisfaction dimension, whereas social self concept had close relationships with all clothing behavior dimensions except clothing conformity. In conclusion, this results showed that body image, social self concept and clothing behaviors have close interrelations, therefore, clothing play an important role to enhance adolescents' body image and social self concept.
It can be said that the ultimate goal of advertising is creating consumers' buying intention and buying behavior toward advertised goods. But literature suggests that ads have both intended and unintended consequences, and one of the unintended consequences is that the idealized images of physical attractiveness found in advertising have negative impact on girls' and womens' self-perceptions. Thus, this study, using social comparison theory as a framework, was designed to investigate the influences of the images of models in ads portrayed in TV and fashion magazines on the purchasing intention, self-esteem and body satisfaction of college women. Using an experimental stimulus, a moving picture representing thin and attractive models in the context of advertising fashion goods, two conditions were manipulated and the subjects were placed into one of two groups randomly, the experiment group and the control group. The experiment group only was exposed to the ads portraying highly attractive models. Data were collected from two groups using same questionnaire. The data were analyzed using t-test, two-way ANOVA, and descriptive statistics. The findings were as follows: 1. The thin and attractive image of models in ads on buying intention had significant positive influence on buying intention(p<.05). 2. The thin and attractive image of models in ads had significant negative influences on self-esteem(p<.05). 3. The thin and attractive image of models in ads had significant negative influence on body satisfaction(p<.05). 4. The ideal body internalization had significant negative influences on body satisfaction(p<.05), but interaction effect of model's image and ideal body internalization on body satisfaction was not significant.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between appearance-related attitude(attitude toward appearance, body satisfaction) and clothing attitude, and to examine how clothing attitude was influenced by appearance-related attitude. The method of this study was survey research by using questionnaires. Subjects were 700(middle school students 217, high school students 227, university students 256) girl students located in Junrabookdo province. In this statistical analysis, SPSS 11.5 for Windows program was utilized to calculate frequency, mean, factor analysis, cronbach's $\alpha$, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, multiple regression analysis. The results of this research were as follows: The results of analysing the factors to the response clothing attitude emerged five dimensions(fashion pursuit, gender attractiveness, self-expression, aesthetic, and modesty). University school girls' students showed higher attitude toward appearance, body satisfaction, clothing attitude except of modesty. Clothing attitude variables except of modesty had positive correlations with appearance-related attitude. However, modesty of clothing had negative correlations with appearance-related attitude. As a conclusion, adolescents' appearance-related attitude constituted important characteristics which could affect clothing attitude directly.
The purpose of this study is to abstract the image from black dress, which has been favored by many people regardless of the times and examine it throughout the history of drss and thereby clearly define the images that black limplies in dress. Color image is a visual symbol, an image that forms through a combination of visual stimulus created by color, coupled with all the external factors related to it. Black is a one-dimensional color, of which the impact is subjective to its energy, which depends on light reflected on the object, and its texture. Therefore, black projects different images, depending on its surroundings. In general, black has had negative connotations in the Western culture. In dress, however, it has implied other various images different from the general negative ones. By combining general images of black and those exprssed in dress, major images of black were categorized into dignity, elegance, eroticism, asceticism and tragedy. Dignity is a category similar to the sublime. Dress with dignity has sharp contours and is generally made of velvet or silk which can be characterized by their splendor and voluminous-ness, exaggerating the body of a person wearing it. Such costume is mostly found in powerful countries in history such as Burgundy Court in the 15C, Spain in the 16C. Netherlands in the 17C. Elegance evokes grace and beautifulness. It includes elegance, grace, beauty and dandyism as subcategories or silk. Good examples are dandies' black costume and Ladies black and white dressees in the 19C. Eroticism is an image which expresses sexual attractiveness. Costume with eroticism is made of velvet or silk, which project sumptuousness through reflection. Such costumes expose parts of the body or are tightly tailored in order to emphasizes body contours. Asceticism means restraint from physical and mental desires. Costume with asceticism makes a person wearing it look smaller by covering the whole body. Puritan's black dresses and Bourgeoisie's black suit are good examples. Tragedy is anguish. sorrow. Black costume with grievous feelings such as mourning dresses is made of lusterless textile concealing most of the body except for the face.
