In this paper, a broadband RF module is designed and tested for 2.4GHz band applications. The RF module is composed of a low noise amplifier (LNA) with a three stage amplifier, a single ended gate mixer, matching circuits, a hairpin line band pass filter and a Chebyshev low pass filter to convert the radio frequency (RF) into the intermediate frequency (IF). The LNA has a high gain and stability, and the single ended gate mixer has a high conversion gain and wide dynamic range. In the analysis of the broadband RF module, the composite harmonic balance technique is used to analyze the operating characteristics of an RF module circuit. The RF module has a 55.2dB conversion gain with a 1.54dB low noise figure, $-120{\sim}-60dBm$ wide RF power dynamic range, -60dBm low harmonic spectrum and a good isolation factor among the RF, IF, and local oscillator (LO) ports.

In this paper, V-band MMIC coupled oscillator arrays are presented. In the proposed array, two push-pull patch antennas are synchronized by using strong electromagnetic coupling between two antennas. As a result, total size of the array is reduced and the array can be integrated in a single chip. To verify proposed array concept, two 1$\times$2 arrays are designed and fabricated using standard 0.15 um gate length pHEMT MMIC process. The circuits are mounted in an oversized waveguide and measured. The first array shows 0.5 dBm at 56.372 GHz and the second one has an output of 5.85 dBm at 60.147 GHz.

The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of dietary supplementation of blood meal as a source of L-histidine, and the addition of magnesium (Mg) as a catalyst of carnosine synthetase for the carnosine and anserine concentrations of pig muscles (longissimus dorsi, LD and vastus intermedius, VI). A total of twenty-four pigs with an average body weight of $60.2{\pm}4.2$ kg were randomly allotted to one of three dietary treatments (eight replicates), during 56 d of the feeding trial. Dietary treatments included: (1) Basal: basal diet; (2) BM: 95% basal diet + 5% blood meal; and (3) BM+Mg: 94.8% basal diet + 5% blood meal + 0.2% MgO (60% Mg). Results indicated that drip loss in the LD was less (p<0.05) for meat with BM+Mg treatment than that with Basal treatment, but the values for BM treatment did not differ from those of the other two treatment groups. The concentrations of carnosine in the LD were increased by 10.0% in both BM and BM+Mg treatment groups over the Basal treatment group (significance not verified). The concentrations of carnosine and anserine in the VI were not affected by the dietary treatments. Inclusion of additional Mg in diets had no effect on carnosine and anserine concentrations in the LD and VI. In conclusion, dietary supplementation of blood meal could be a potential method of fortifying the pork with carnosine. Inclusion of additional Mg in the diets containing blood meal had no benefit on carnosine and anserine depositions in pig muscles.

BmCu/Zn SOD was isolated from early embryo of Bombyx mori using microarray analysis. The BmCu/Zn SOD gene was observed during the early embryonic stage with the strongest signal found at the unfertilizaion, fertilization and blastoderm stages. The BmCu/Zn SOD gene encodes a protein of 154 amino acids with a calculated Mr of 15 kDa. The deduced amino acid sequence of BmCu/Zn SOD indicated that the residues that form on the Cu/Zn binding site are conserved and that the sequence is a 60% identity to that of M. domestica. In a phylogenetic tree, Bm SOD was also close to Drosophila SODs rather than other insect SODs. The BmCu/Zn SOD gene exists as a single copy in the genome. Transcripts of BmCu/Zn SOD cDNA were identified by northern blot analysis. The expression of the BmCu/Zn SOD gene was observed weakly in most of larvae, pre-pupae, pupae and adult tissues. Also, the BmCu/Zn SOD gene was observed in early embryonic stage. Although the roles of SODs remains to be further elucidated, the high expression of BmCu/Zn SOD gene at before 24 h post fertilization suggests that this gene is of general importance during early embryogenesis in the Bombyx mod.
Degradation of the optical communication system due to the stimulated Brillouin scattering effect in the optical fiber is measured, and its suppression is demonstrated. In the externally modulated 2.5 Gb/s transmission experiment, bit error rate is increased due to the stimulated Brillouin scattering effect when the signal power (linewidth 3 MHz) incident into the dispersion shifted fiber is larger than 10 dBm. SBS effect is suppressed completely, up to 15 dBm of transmission power, by broadening the source linewidth to 200 MHz.

This paper presents a high-efficiency concurrent dual-band Class-E power amplifier(PA) that is based on a multi-harmonic matching network(MHMN). The proposed MHMN controls the impedance at 1.3 GHz, 2.1 GHz, and their second and third harmonics, respectively, by using transmission lines only rather than switches or lumped components. The dual-band Class-E PA is implemented using Avago ATF-50189 GaAs p-HEMT. The PA exhibits a measured output power of 27.1 dBm and 25.7 dBm, a power gain of 6.1 dB and 4.7 dB, and a drain efficiency of 71.2 % and 60.1 % at 1.3 GHz and 2.1 GHz, respectively.

Embryonic lethal abnormal visual (elav) is a lethal gene in Drosophila inducing the abnormal development and function of nervous system. We cloned a Bm-elav gene by bioinformatics and biological experiment, based on sequence of ELAV protein and dbEST of Bombyx mori. The full-length of Bm-elav cDNA is 1498 bp, contains a 906 bp open read frame (ORF) encoding a precursor of 301 amino acid residues with a calculated molecular weight of 34 kDa and pI of 8.99. Bm-ELAV protein precursor contains three RNA recognition motifs (RRM) in $24{\sim}91$, $110{\sim}177$ and $222{\sim}295$ bit amino acid residues respectively, and belongs to RNA-binding protein family. Bm-ELAV shared varying positives, ranging from 56% to 60% (Identities from 41% to 45%), with RRM from other species of Xenopus tropicalis, Apis mellifera, Tribolium castaneum, Branchiostoma belcheri and Drosophila. Gene localization indicated that Bm-elav is a single-copy gene, gene mapping within 12-chromosome from 7916.68 knt to 7918.16 knt region of nscaf2993. Spatiotemporal expressions pattern analysis revealed that Bm-elav expressed higher in most tested tissues and developmental stages in whole generation, such as silk gland, fat body, midgut, hemopoietic organ and ovary, but almost no expression in terminated diapause eggs. This suggested that the expression of Bm-elav in early developmental embryonic stages might induce abnormal development like in Drosophila. Cloning of the Bm-elav gene enables us to test its potential role in controlling pests by transferring the gene into field lepidopteran insects in the future.

This paper describes an offset and 1/f noise cancellation technique based hall sensor signal processor. The hall sensor outputs a hall voltage from the input magnetic field, which direction is orthogonal to hall plate. The two major elements to complete the hall sensor operation are: the one is a hall sensor to generate hall voltage from input magentic field, and the other one is a hall signal process system to cancel the offset and 1/f noise of hall signal. The proposed hall sensor splits the hall signal and unwanted signals(i.e. offset and 1/f noise) using a spinning current biasing technique and chopper stabilizer. The hall signal converted to 100 kHz and unwanted signals stay around DC frequency pass through chopper stabilizer. The unwanted signals are bloked by highpass filter which, 60 kHz cut off freqyency. Therefore only pure hall signal is enter the ADC(analog to dogital converter) for digitalize. The hall signal and unwanted signal at the output of an amplifer and highpass filter, which increase the power level of hall signal and cancel the unwanted signals are -53.9 dBm @ 100 kHz and -101.3 dBm @ 10 kHz. The ADC output of hall sensor signal process system has -5.0 dBm hall signal at 100 kHz frequency and -55.0 dBm unwanted signals at 10 kHz frequency.
