  • In this paper, a simple scheme of two-stage free-space photonic swiching system for nonblocking optical interconnections has been investigated using holgorams. The multistage system requires a smaller number of interconnections for a given number of inpuut-output nonblocking ports than the single stage system does. Here hologram elements were used to change interconnection beam paths. In order to increase the idffraction efficiency of the hologram elements in photographic plates, a bleaching technique was used, which converts the amplitude hologram to the phase hologram. To show sthe feasibility of our optical interconnection system, it was implemented using the bleached hologram arrays and an LCTV spatial light modulator, and the sytem as a photonic switching system was demonstrated.

  • This study was conducted to characterize herbicidal activity of the new type diphenylether compounds inducing bleaching(whitening) in relation to their chemical structures and to find out the herbicidal action mechanism. Bleaching was highly appeared in the compounds which have short chain alkyl or allyl group of cabamoyl type in meta position of A ring and nitro group in para position of B ring, and KC6361 showed the highest efficacy among these derivatives. Rice was tolerant to KC6361 at 2.0kg/ha. The applications of this compound at 0.25~1.0kg/ha provided acceptable control of the various weeds including large crabgrass, barnyardgrass, pigweed and so on. In the dark condition, KC6361 decreased carotenoid contents but increased chlorophyll in etiolated cucumber cotyledon. By the increase of light intensity, the carotenoid biosynthesis was more inhibited than the chlorophyll biosynthesis. The incorporation of $C^{14}$-acetate into lipid was slightly inhibited. Both KC6361 and norflurazon stimulated growth of dwarf rice(cv. Daneunbanju). These results suggest that both KC6361 and norflurazon may have the same action sites. To confirm this hypothesis, the changes of carotenoid intermediates in cucumber cotyledon and barnyardgrass leaf treated with KC6361 were investigated. Phytoene and phytofluene were increased but ${\beta}$-carotene was decreased, indicating that KC6361 inhibited phytoene and/or phytofluene dehydrogenase like norflurazon.

  • Vsing the phosphorylated thylakoid membrane induced by 5-35kLux of light intensities, we investigated the chlorophyll nuorescence quenching of PSII and the phosphorylation of LHCPII i in relation to the chlorophyll-bleaching of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer. In the Presence of DCMU, both of the fluorescence yield of non-phosphorylated thylakoid and the rate of fluorescence quencing dependent on the Phosphorylation were high p. ginseng more then Glyine max L. And at the high light F intensity (above 25 kLux) the fluorescence quenching rate of p. ginseng compared with that of G. max reached nearly to 2 times. The LHCPII of P. ginseng was composed of 3 major Polypeptides (24.5, 26 and 27kD) and 3 minor polypeptides (24, 25.3 and 28.3kD) in the region of 24-29kD and differed, from G. max in both of the number and quantity of polypeptides. Among these polypeptides, the phosphorylated polypeptide dependent on the light intensity was 24kD in P. ginseng.

  • This study investigated the effects of high light intensity (100 KLw) and high temperature (45 ℃, dark) on enzyme (glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, acid phosphatase, catalase, peroxidase, and proteinase) activities and characteristics of Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer leaves. Enzyme activity and protein content decreased rapidly under treatment with high light intensity In P ginseng the thermal stabilities of catalase and peroxidase were high (above 70%), and the coagulation rates of soluble proteins were low (below 17%). Therefore, the decrease in enzyme activity and protein content was not caused by increase in leaf temperature due to the high light intensity, but by increase in proteolytic activities. The photochemical formation rate of superoxide radical (O-2) was higher in the P ginseng leaf extracts than in Solanum nigmm, and was accelerated by addition of crude saponin to the buffer extracts.

  • Purpose: The emergence profile concept of an implant restoration is one of the most important factors for the esthetics and health of peri-implant soft tissue. This paper reports on two cases of gingival recontouring by the fabrication of a provisional implant restoration to produce an optimal emergence profile of a definitive implant restoration. Methods: After the second surgery, a preliminary impression was taken to make a soft tissue working cast. A provisional crown was fabricated on the model. The soft tissue around the implant fixture on the model was trimmed with a laboratory scalpel to produce the scalloped gingival form. Light curing composite resin was added to fill the space between the provisional crown base and trimmed gingiva. After 4 to 6 weeks, the final impression was taken to make a definitive implant restoration, where the soft tissue and tooth form were in harmony with the adjacent tooth. Results: At the first insertion of the provisional restoration, gum bleaching revealed gingival pressure. Four to six weeks after placing the provisional restoration, the gum reformed with harmony between the peri-implant gingiva and adjacent dentition. Conclusions: Gingival recontouring with a provisional implant restoration is a non-surgical and non-procedure-sensitive method. The implant restoration with the optimal emergence profile is expected to provide superior esthetic and functional results.

  • This study describes the feasibility and optimization of reactive dyeing on bio treated cotton knitted fabrics. For this, cotton knitted fabrics distinctly with two different enzymes, alkaline Pectinases(Scourzyme $L^{(R)}$) and Pectate lyases(Bactosol Co. ip $liquor^{(R)}$). In this way by increasing the concentration and processing temperature, the access of enzymes towards the fatty and waxy substrate was found to be accelerated. To achieve higher absorbency and whiteness index, a series of experiments was carried out to assure that Pectate lyases enzymes possesses high access towards the fats and waxes at high temperature. To this end, cotton knitted fabrics was dyed without oxidative bleaching step. The Pectate lyases scoured and dyed fabrics showed less color difference when 2% dye shade is used. The fabrics pre-scoured with Pectate lyases showed good the light and washing fastness properties, compared to the conventional and Pectinases dyed fabrics. However pectinases enzymes showed lower activity at high temperature, caused poor wettability and whiteness index of fabrics. The improvement of the accessibility of enzyme to the pectin at higher temperature Pectate lyases treatment before dyeing was found to be useful for subsequent pectin degradation in cotton knitted fabrics.

  • The purpose of this article is to explain the meanings and uses of the English auxiliaries will morpho-syntactically, and answer the question of whether will is a tense auxiliary or a modal one. Some writers even exclude will completely from the semantics of the modal auxiliaries. They argue that the semantics of will is fundamentally non-modal and has only a few modal-like uses. There are some people who treat will to be semantically separate from the other modal auxiliaries. In the light of modal will, the semantics of will basically remains anchored in volition because the lack of required speaker subjectivity, but has undergone so much semantic bleaching that it may also express future time without volition. On the other hand, the semantics of will in the exclusionist view is erroneous and that its semantics is in fact closely related to the semantics of the other modals. This view reinforces the argument that the morpho-syntactic kinship of will, can, may and must also reflects semantic kinship. It is suggested that all the modal auxiliaries show that the correspondence relation is non-verified but potential. And the specific place that will holds is that the correspondence is unverified at the time of utterance but will turn out to become verified. The overall conclusion is that idiosyncratic morpho-syntax shared by the modals reflects the semantics and pragmatics of the English modal auxiliaries and is forced also to include will.

  • This study investigates the photoelectrochemical behavior of STS304 steel with TiO2 thin films coating, applied by sol-gel mehod, for the purpose of cathodic photoprotection of the steel corrosion. One time TiO2-coated STS304 steel, adapted with two kinds of TiO2 sol solution, has the most dominant photopotential abilities, which was -200mV vs. SCE and -500mV vs. SCE under illumination with 40 W fluorescent lamp, respectively. That had yielded more negative values than the corrosion potential of the bare metal(-130mv vs.SCE). The bleaching of TCE was confirmed on TiO2-coated STS304 steel under UV-illumination with 20W Black-light. This Study concluded that Ti02-coated STS304 exhibited both a cathodic photoprotection effect against corrosion and a photocatalytic self-cleaning effect.

  • In order to determine the relationships between the lea(-burning disease and the light harvesting chlorophyll-protein (LHCP) complex in Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, we investigated the chlorophyll-protein (CP) complex of the thylakoid membrane and its characteristics. In P. ginseng four Cp-complex bands determined by non-denaturing SDS-PAGE were identified CP I'(containing reaction center of photosystem I and LHCP I antennae), CP I (reaction center of photosystem I) LHCP II** (oligoform of LHCP II), and LHCP II (photosystem II antennae, CP 26 and CP 29) by Bassis and Dunahay's procedures. Under our experimental condition, the CP I band was only observed in P. ginseng and the band intensity of LHCP II** in P ginseng was higher than in spinach and soybean. There were differences in the absorption and fluorescence spectra and chlorophyll a/b ratio of the CP-complex bands between P. ginseng and other Plants. The Polypeptidr content of P. ginseng thylakoid was lower than in spinach and soybean thylakoid, and the Polypeptide profiles of P. ginseng was low band intensity, especially about 29-35 kD, 55 kD, and 60 kD, compared to spinach and soybean. The inhibitory effects of 2,5-dimethylfuran, specific singlet oxygen ($^1O_2$) quencher, showed that singlet oxygen destroyed 60% of chl.a, 90% of chl.b and 70% of carotenoid in bleaching P. ginseng with leaf-burning disease.
