Geopolymer mortar compressed blocks were prepared using fly ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag, silica fume and metakaolin as binders and sand/quarry dust/pond ash as fine aggregate. Alkaline solution was used to activate the source materials for synthesizing the geopolymer mortar. Fresh mortar was used to obtain the compressed blocks. The strength development with reference to different parameters was studied. The different parameters considered were fineness of fly ash, binder components, type of fine aggregate, molarity of alkaline solution, age of specimen, fluid-to-binder ratio, binder-to-aggregate ratio, degree of saturation, etc. The compressed blocks were tested for compression at different ages. It was observed that some of the blocks attained considerable strength within 24 h under ambient conditions. The cardinal aim was to analyze the experimental data generated to formulate a phenomenological model to arrive at the combinations of the ingredients to produce geopolymer blocks to meet the strength development desired at the specified age. The strength data was analyzed within the framework of generalized Abrams' law. It was interesting to note that the law was applicable to the analysis of strength development of partially saturated compressed blocks when the degree of saturation was maintained constant. The validity of phenomenological model was examined with an independent set of experimental data. The blocks can replace the traditional masonry blocks with many advantages.

In South Korea, about 900 metal mines have been abandoned, and about 88 million-t metal mine wastes have been discarded in recent years. The treatment of the tailings which are the main wastes in the abandoned metal mines becomes a social problem because they cause environmental pollution such as acidic waste water generation, groundwater contamination, and dust generation. Since almost whole quantities of the tailings have disposed by landfill now, the development of effective recycling methods for the tailings are strongly requested. It is expected that the fine tailings obtained by centrifugal separation process among the tailings can be utilized as admixture for cement. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the micro-structure of cement mortar admixed with fine tailing. Various admixtures were made of Fine tailings and 2 Types of OPC, fly-ash and blast furnace slag. The hydration reactivity of cement mortar with FT was examined by Porosity, XRD and SEM morphology analysis. The anolytical result about hardened hydrates shows that waste fine tailing help hydrates none densified due to it,s filling-space, These densified effect is concluded with improving the resistance to attack of cement mortar including waste fine tailing.
The computer simulation model was established to verify the applicability of smelting reduction concept to treatment of industrial wastes which becomes issue on the enviromental and recycling view point. Computer simulation model provides as following results. The increase of post combustion ratio(PCR) and heat transfer efficiency of PC energy(HTE) is effective ways to save energy. But, in order to increase PCR, recovery efficiency of post combustion energy(HTE) have to be higher than 85% HTE considering refractory life and saving energy together. Coke is most useful fuel source because it shows lowest dependence of PCR and low hydrogen content. The quality of hot metal of current process would be expected to the similar level with that of blast furnace. The utilization of scrap and Al dross can be also possible to maximize the advantages of current process which is high temperature and chemical dilution with hot metal and slag. In case of scrap, energy consumption was slightly increases because of heating up energy of scrap. Consquently, current process concept provides the possibility of intergrating recycles of industrial wastes materials such as EAF slag, coke oven dust, life terminated acidic refractory, aluminium dross and scrap by smelting reduction process.
Most of flame furnace with uncontrolled atmosphere forms oxidation scales in the surface during heat treatment. In this case, shot blasting and pickling are commonly used for reduction of oxidation scales. These processes have many disadvantages, such as long process time, high operating cost and environmental problems due to polishing dust, etc. Hence, this study aimed to develop the advanced heat treating equipment which could make a controlled atmosphere using a heatresisting structure into the flame furnace. The analysis result with SEM, EPMA, and EDX revealed that the amount of scales formed is much less than that with the conventional flame furnace. A brightness of the sample treated with the advanced process is similar compared to the treatment with vacuum furnace. In the present work, it was recommended that the inside structure of the furnace and gas line system could made up of SBB410 and STS310, respectively. The operating cost with the advanced heat treatment system could be reduced annually by forty million won. As a result of this study, it may be possible to reduce the oxidation scales. The fundamental information obtained in this study will be useful not only for improving the heat treatment process(reduction of shot blast and cleaning process), but for promoting the manufacture of bright products.

Calcium ferrite is more effective binder for making sintered ore and flux for steel making because of it's low melting temperature. In this Study, calcium ferrite was made by calcinating method in the cement manufacturing process in order to reduce manufacturing costs and increase productivity. Limestone and calcination sludge were used as CaO source, steelmaking sludge, blast furnace dust and iron ore were used as Fe-bearing raw materials. The sintering temperature of specimens is in the range of $950{\sim}1170^{\circ}C$. For Calcium ferrite can be used 'binder for making sintered ore' or 'flux for converter/electric furnace' with a low melting point properties, the raw material characteristics and sintering properties were investigated.

This research investigated the feasibility of incorporating industrial by-products into precast concrete formulated with blast furnace slag and natural gypsum. Specifically, the study examined the effects of incorporating steelmaking slag(STS slag), combined heat power plant fly ash, and return dust. The optimal amount of these by-products was determined by measuring air content, slump, and compressive strength at various incorporation levels. Results demonstrated that compressive strength was enhanced across all levels of by-product addition. Notably, incorporating 10% of the by-products led to exceptional early-age strength development. However, a 20% addition of combined heat power plant ash significantly reduced the slump value by approximately 40%. Considering these findings and the requirement for rapid strength development in precast concrete applications, a 10% incorporation of industrial by-products was deemed optimal due to its ability to accelerate early-age strength gain.

As the rapid industrialization and modernization progress of the world it is becoming a fast-paced environment pollution. And, dust or environment pollution to solve reckless diggings of natural aggregate cause a serious problem. This study was used a Blast Furnace Slag and Combined Heat and Power Plant of Fly Ash as a cement substitute to reduce $CO_2$ emissions during cement production, this study intend to suggest it's result as basic data 'Properties of Artificial Stone interior or exterior materials type utilizing industrial by-product and waste resource' utilizing Waste Porcelain and Waste Glass. As a result, it was high strength that matrix added the Combined Heat and Power Plant of Fly Ash of addition ratio 40%. Also, pre-experiment was conduct as mixing ratio of waste glass, waste porcelain on the basis of the preceding experiment, proper mixing ratio was judged that proper of waste glass, waste porcelain was mixing ratio 60, 70 (%) of appeared surface aggregate ratio more than 45%.
Many industrial processes require reliable temperature measurements in harsh environments with high temperature, dust, humidity, and pressure. However, commercially-available conventional temperature measurement devices are not suitable for use in such conditions. This study thus proposes a reliable, durable two-color radiation thermometer (RT) for harsh environments that was developed by selecting the appropriate components, designing a suitable mechanical structure, and compensating environmental factors such as absorption by particles and gases. The two-color RT has a simple, compactly-designed probe with a well-structured data acquisition system combined with efficient LabVIEW-based code. As a result, the RT can measure the temperature in real time, ranging from 300 to $900^{\circ}C$ in extremely harsh environments, such as that above the burden zone of a blast furnace. The error in the temperature measurements taken with the proposed two-color RT compared to that obtained using K-type thermocouple readouts was within 6.1 to $1.4^{\circ}C$ at a temperature range from 200 to $700^{\circ}C$. The effects of absorption by gases including $CO_2$, CO and $H_2O$ and the scattering by fine particles were calculated to find the transmittance of the two wavelength bands of operation through the path between the measured burden surface and the two-color probe. This method is applied to determine the transmittance of the short and long wavelength bands to be 0.31 and 0.51, respectively. Accordingly, the signals that were measured were corrected, and the true burden surface temperature was calculated. The proposed two-color RT and the correction method can be applied to measure temperatures in harsh environments where light-absorbing gases and scattering particles exist and optical components can be contaminated.

This study examined the effect of binder-to-soil ratio(B/S) and water-to-binder ratio(W/B) on the flow and compressive strength development of soil concrete using high-volume supplementary cementitious materials. As a partial replacement of ordinary portland cement, 10% by-pass dust, 40% ground granulated blast-furnace slag, and 25% circulating fluidized bed combustion fly ash were determined in the preliminary tests. Using the low-cement binder incorporated with clay soil or sandy soil, a total of 18 soil concrete mixtures was prepared. The flow of the soil concrete tended to increase with the increase in W/B and B/S, regardless of the type of soils. The compressive strength was commonly higher in sandy soil concrete than in clay soil concrete with the same mixture condition. Considering the high-workability and compressive strength development, it could be recommended for low-cement soil concrete to be mixed under the following condition: B/S of 0.35 and W/B of 175%.

This study investigated quality properties of alkali activated cement free mortar using industrial by-product such as cement kiln dust(CKD), silica fume(SF) and quartz sand powder(SP) to compare with previous research about blast furnace slag(BS) and fly ash(FA). The results were as following. All materials were effective to increase compressive strength, however they showed different tendency on flowability. CKD and SP increased flowability, but on the other hand SF did not because it's blain was great difference with other materials. Flowability and compressive strength were related with grading distributions of binders because CKD, SP and SF which had small particle size filled up BS and FA. Application of industrial by-products with various grading distributions could be effective for the high early strength and flowability of alkali activated cement free mortar using BS.
