This work was attempted to join SCP sheet and STS304 sheet by using Nd:YAC laser beam. SCP sheet has good formability and low cost, while STS304 has excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties in high temp. In this experiment, butt joint type was used to develop the tailored blank welding for dissimilar steel. Sheets which have different thermal properties. Computer simulation was conducted to obtain the off-set position for efficient welding by considering laser power, scanning speed, focal length and basic properties. The result showed that the optimum thermal distribution was obtained when the laser beam was irradiated at $0.05{\sim}0.1$ mm off-set toward the SCP sheet side. The experiment was conducted based on the result of computer simulation to show the same optimum conditions. Optimum conditions were 3KW in laser beam power, 6m/min in scanning speed, -0.5mm in focal position, 0.1mm off-set toward SCP. Microhardness test, tensile test, bulge test, optical microscopy, EDS, and XRD were performed to observe the microstructure around fusion zone and to evaluate the mechanical properties of optimum conditions, The weld zone had high microhardness values by the formation of the martensitic structure. Tensile test measured the strength of welded region by vertical to strain direction and the elongation of welded region by parallel to strain direction. Bulge test showed $52\%$ formability of the original materials. Bead shape, grain size, and martensitic structure were observed by the optical microscopy in the weld zone. Detailed results of EDS, XRD confirmed that the welded region was connected of martensitic structure.

For the purpose of collecting fog droplets as a function of size a new sampling method was developed in this study. Formation of 100$\pm$10㎛ thickness of polymeric water absorbent film (PWAF) on a nuclepore filter could be successfully realized. Also applicability of particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) method to the chemical analysis of size-segregated fog droplets collected on PWAF was examined experimentally with synthetic fog droplets generated from a nebulizer. Absorption capacity of S-PAAS polymeric water absorbent shows marked decreases in the range less than 1 wt% and slight decrease between 1 and 3.5 wt% of every salt concentration. Dependency of absorption capacity on pH shows the maximum at pH 7. No apparent peak which can influence the quantitative analysis of elements dissolved and suspended in fog droplets was found at PIXE spectrum of PWAF blank. PWAF kept the original shape without rupture under the PIXE analytical conditions of beam intensity for 10 to 60 nA and irradiation time of 4∼5 min. It should be said that the proposed new technique in the work is helpful to get more detailed information of fog droplets, to clarify the fog formation processes, and to develop a model of acid deposition process.
Weight reduction for an automobile body is being sought for the fuel efficiency and the energy conservation. One way of the efforts is adopting Ultra Light Steel Auto Body (ULSAB) concept. The ULSAB concept can be used for the light weight of an automobile door with the tailor welded blank (TWB). A design process is defined for the TWB. The inner panel of door is designed by the TWB and optimization. The design starts from an existing component. At first, the hinge and inner reinforcements are removed. In the conceptual design stage, topology optimization is conducted to find the distribution of variable thicknesses. The number of parts and the welding lines are determined from the topology design. In the detailed design process, size optimization is carried out to find thickness while stiffness constraints are satisfied. The final parting lines are determined by shape optimization.
Stamping process and rubber pad forming process were performed to manufacture the bipolar plate for fuel cells. For that, a vacuum die casting process and a semi-solid forming process wherein liquid-state materials were used were adopted. After preparing the blank with the stainless steel thin plate having a thickness of 0.1 mm, the bipolar plate channel was formed with the stamping process and rubber pad forming process. The depth of the bipolar plate channel prepared by the stamping method was 0.45 mm and the depth of the bipolar plate channel prepared by the rubber pad forming process was 0.41 mm. Meanwhile, with the vacuum die casting and semi solid forming, the bipolar plate having a channel depth of 0.3 mm, same as the size of the die, could be formed.
In order to increase the productivity of electrical parts, manufacturing processes using progressive die have been widely used in the industry. If closed-die forging process may be included in the series of the forming process, however, there arise many problems in the die design, such as determination of blank size, feeding method and formability, etc. For the proper design of a process, a prediction of the process is requred to obtain many design parameters. In this work, three-dimensional rigid-plastic finite element analysis is carried out to simulate precision forging process. The forging process of STEM, a part of photo pick-up hologram device, is simulated with the two types of processes, open die forging and semi-closed die forging, respectively. Form the results of analyses, the forging processes can be predicted successfully, which enables to design appropriately the die and the process.
The study is concerned with the theoretical and experimental investigation of axisymmetric fluid pressure-drive hydronforming of sheet metal by forming over the die cavity. The rigid-plastic finite element method is employed to calculate the stress and strain distribution The effect of blank size and die radius is also studied in the finite element analysis. Experiments are carried out for hydroforming of cold rolled steel sheets under various process conditions. The computational results are compared with the experimental results for the forming pressure vs. pole displacement relations and strain distributions. Comparison has shown that theoretical predictions by the finite element method are in good agreement with the experimental observations. Thus, it is shown that the rigid-plastic finite element method is effectively used in the analysis of axisymmetric fluid pressure-driven hydroforming process.
Fine blanking is a specialized form of blanking where there is no fracture zone when shearing. This is achieved by compressing the whole part and then an upper and lower punch extract the blank. This allows the process to hold very tight tolerances, and perhaps eliminate secondary operations. In the present study, tensile test and numerical simulation has been performed to investigate distribution of deformation and stress of car seat recliner. The commercial ABAQUS/Explicit software was applied for analyzing the stress and strain of the recliner. In analysis, three lock gear has reached the maximum moment on rotational degree of 2.27. This is more than two times than maximum moment of same size recliner, and can be used safely. Therefore, these can use as criterion of actual structural design.

after using dom die, this sheet pressed from a variation condition of size, of die holder power,of rpm speed, accordingly the kind of material, the conditionof deformation movement between both sheets is analyzed, is investigated in the Press machine. even if the change quantity which formed raises a blank holder pressure, the change quantity which is special is not visible from the segment where there is not a bead, the segment where there is a bead to the other side does change quantity schedule to initially and the features of press holding power which the change quantity diminishes is showed consequently from pressurization change quantity it is visible but until a rupture territory from the rpm, it goes but the features where the change quantity does not change a lot is observationd, from the CR2-sheet the quality comes out though well but a possibility of getting a result under same conditions of AL-sheet does not become the formation which stands is. It is like that though press-die which uses the drawing-sheet it exchanges the sheets, when AL-sheet with doing, the conclusion for maintain which have a formation sincerity healthy characteristic is same with afterwords.
Process design for elliptically shaped deep drawing products is various according to size shape and specification of products. This study presents two approaches to design the preform that is a key process for elliptically shaped products, One of these is that cross-section of punch is circular. Another is that for the improvement of characteristics for final products the cross-section of the punch is similar to rectangular shape. After forming the preform process design of top-part drawing is the same. In the study blank shape and dimension are obtained by applying a numerical formula and surface area constancy.
