The genus Prionchulus Cobb, 1916 represents a group of predaceous nematodes belonging to the family Mononchidae Chitwood, 1937, and is found worldwide. However, only five species have been reported thus far from Korea. Prionchulus oleksandri Winiszewska and Susulovsky, 2003 is reported for the first time from Korea, from sediments collected from the Nakdong River. This species is distinguished from other Prionchulus species by its truncated lip region with small cephalic papillae and refringens vaginae. In this study, morphological characters(detailed morphometrics) of P. oleksandri are described and illustrated using optical microscopy. DNA barcode sequence information (the D2-D3 region of 28S rDNA, 18S rDNA, and internal transcribed spacer rDNA) is also provided for the molecular identification of the species.
Main objectives of this paper were; firstly, to explain impacts of suspended solid in the water body on the relationship between water quantity and water quality; secondly, study on the inter-relationship between organic materials, nutrients, pathogens, and suspended solids considering eco-friendly water resources. Relationship between water quality and water quantity is not easy to understand as it includes physicochemical-biological reactions and diffuse pollutions. Especially, suspended solid makes water resource management difficult. Eroded soil in the upper land transported to the downstream by water flows carrying biological and physicochemical information and sedimented in the downstream. As sediment scoured under high flow condition and environmental change, suspended solid and sediment should be emphasized for understanding the inter-relationship between water quality and water quantity. Knowledge gaps between known monitored data and management of suspended solid were identified as well for future study.

In order to support biomimicry technology development, it is necessary to develop an omnidirectional service platform which can recommend principles of biomimicry and business ideas, providing experts' networks and carrying out their relevant education and promotion on the ground of baseline data and application research materials related to biomimicry. This study was conducted to establish any probable plans for construction and utilization of the future open-platform which will collect and serve the technology of biomimicry. Accordingly, biological and ecological information databases were examined along with the appreciation of construction and management of major biomimicry DB, and, based on the materials from the interview of related experts, a customer journey map was schematized. Lastly, in order to suggest a mid-to-long-term target-model, the roles of a future biomimicry knowledge service-platform were determined along with the potential plans for its construction and management based on case analysis and customers' needs.
Purpose: This descriptive survey compared health literacy and health behaviors between Korean women with and without breast cancer. Methods: In total, 95 women with and 97 women without breast cancer (age range: 40-69 years) completed the survey. Health literacy and health behavior were analyzed in women with and without breast cancer, using the Newest Vital Sign. Results: Women with breast cancer were less frequently alcohol drinkers (14.7% vs. 47.4%, p < .001) and more frequently exercised (65.3% vs. 49.5%, p = .027), obtained health information (17.9% vs. 8.2%, p = .047), and attended health education programs (10.5% vs. 1.0%, p = .005) than women without cancer. In both groups, women with higher literacy levels outnumbered those with limited literacy. Conclusion: The results indicated that women with breast cancer were more likely to engage in health-promotion activities than women without cancer, and this increased their health literacy levels. The findings could inform interventions involving breast cancer prevention methods.
Two rare ciliates from soil under the oak tree and mosses in the top of mountain in Korea were identified as Gonostomum algicola Gellert, 1942 and G. gonostomoida (Hemberger, 1985), respectively. There is little information on their morphological features, therefore their detailed redescriptions are needed. The description was based on the observation of living and protargol impregnated specimens, and biometric analysis. Their diagnostic characteristics are as follows. Gonostomum algicola; $88-113\times30-40{\mu}m$ in vivo, colourless cortical granules, 20-31 adoral membranelles, two fronto-terminal cirri, five fronto-ventral cirri, no mid-ventral cirri, two transverse cirri, two to three micronuceli. Gonostomum gonostomoida; $60-121\times21-40{\mu}m$ in vivo, no cortical granules, 27-34 adoral membranelles, no fronto-terminal cirri, two fronto-ventral cirral rows with each row bearing three cirri, midventral cirral row with 11-14 cirri, two to three transverse cirri, one to six micronuceli. So far, total three species within the genus Gonostomum have been recorded from Korea by the present study.
The genus Eumetriochroa Kumata & Kuroko, 1988 has been known as a small genus with twelve described species worldwide. In this study, we aimed to review the Korean species of the genus Eumetriochroa of the subfamily Oecophyllembiinae, which belongs to the family Gracillariidae. Three species of this genus are recognized from Korea. Among them, two species, Eumetriochroa araliella Kobayashi, Huang & Hirowatari, 2013 and E. hiranoi Kumata, 1998 are reported for the first time from Korea. All the known species were enumerated with their available information and briefly redescribed for the newly recorded species. The adults and genitalia of all the species are redescribed and illustrated.
Two Pseudopolydora polychaetes, P. bassarginensis and P. reticulata, originally described from Peter the Great Bay in Russia and Taiwan, respectively, were recorded firstly in Korea with DNA information. Two species are known to have distinct morphological characteristics that are separated from other Pseudopolydora species. They are characterized by reticulate pigmentations on the dorsal sides of the anterior chaetigers, a longitudinal black band-like pigmentation on the caruncle, and black paired spots on the ventral sides of the anterior chaetigers. These two species can be distinguished morphologically from each other by the length of the caruncle. Methyl green staining pattern of the species is a good method for delimiting Pseudopolydora species. The partial sequences of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI), 16S ribosomal DNA (16S rDNA), and the nuclear 18S ribosomal DNA (18S rDNA) from Korean specimens of the two species were determined. The morphological descriptions and images of the two Pseudopolydora species are provided.
This review provides information about the nomenclatural status of new names proposed by Dr. Yong No Lee, in accordance with the current International Code of Nomenclature for Algae, Fungi, and Plants. A total of 363 designations and names were proposed from 16 books and 95 papers by Dr. Yong No Lee, and their status was examined, with 161 designations found to be not validly published. In addition, 13 later isonyms and ten later homonyms were found by this review. However, 173 names were found to be legitimate. All designations and names were categorized according to their nomenclatural status and were listed by place of publication. The nomenclatural statuses of six designations or names, including "Iris odaesanensis," were not confirmed in this review. It is therefore necessary to undertake further research into the nomenclatural status of these taxa by examining their types and published protologues.
The subfamilies Lithocolletinae and Ornixolinae belong to the family Gracillariidae (Lepidoptera). In this study, one species in the subfamily Lithocolletinae, Neolithocolletis hikomonticola Kumata, 1963 and two species in the subfamily Ornixolinae, Conopomorpha flueggella Li, 2011 and Epicephala nudilingua Kawakita & Kato, 2016 are reported for the first time from Korea. Also, two genera, Neolithocolletis Kumata, 1963 and Conopomorpha Meyrick, 1885 are reported as new to Korea. All available information of these taxa, including details on their host plants and distributional regions are provided with the descriptions and illustrations of the adults, male and female genitalia of these taxa.
The genus Grapholita Treitschke, belonging to the tribe Grapholitini, comprises over 150 species worldwide with the majority occurring in the Holarctic region. However, in other regions, only few species are reported owing to a lack of collection and taxonomic study. The genus includes important agricultural pests worldwide that feed on several plants in the families Fabaceae and Rosaceae. In Korea, a comprehensive taxonomic study is required as only eight species have been reported to date. In this study, two species of Grapholita Treitschke, G. latericia Komai, 1999 and G. pallifrontana (Lienig & Zeller, 1846) are newly recorded from Korea. We provide redescribed and illustrated adult and available genitalia. Additionally, all available information, including collecting localities, distribution, host plants and biological characteristics is presented.
