  • Diverse digital filters have been designed previously to eliminate powerline(AC) interference in the electrocardiouam. This paper describes filtering methods which have been developed recursive notch, adaptive, IEF(Incremental Estimation Filter) and proposes a new AIEF(Advanced Incremental Estimation Filter) method. The performances of these filters are compared on artificial signals as well as actual ECG signals with the aid of validated CSE(Common Standards for Quantitative Electrocardiowaphy). AC interference in this database is shown to exhibit two qualities especially relevant to filter design : considerable deviations from a nominal 60Hz frequency and substantial noise at higher harmonics.

  • This paper performed P wave detection algorithm for diagnosis in according to method of cardiologist's P wave detection. We used correlation pattern matching for prominent P waves and P-P interval estimation for ambiguous P waves. Results of this study indicate that this algorithm has potential for improving P wave detection performance.

제주도 자생 왕벚나무의 연륜생장 특성 분석 (Growth characteristics by age measurement of Prunus yedoensis on Jeju Island, Korea)

  • This study conducted to analyze the growth characteristics of old Prunus yedoensis on Jeju island. The diameter growth per year was measured using a DTRS-2000 instrument. The DBH, ground DBH and height of the investigated P. yedoensis were 137 cm, 143 cm, and 15.5 m, respectively. Our analysis showed that the age of the old P. yedoensis was 93 years. An annual diameter growth of $2.85mm{\pm}0.96$ was observed. The result of age estimation, about $265{\pm}64$ years in P. yedoensis on Jeju island. This information could be useful to understand the annual diameter growth characteristics the P. yedoensis distributed on Jeju island.

화생방 방호시설의 행동 절차 분석을 통한 진입 소요시간 예측 시뮬레이션 (Chemical/Biological/Radiological Protective Facility Entering Time Estimation Simulation with Procedure Analysis)

  • 최근 화생방 공격에 대한 위협이 증가함에 따라 화생방 방호시설의 중요성이 강조되고 있다. 화생방전 발생 시 화생방 방호시설 외부에 있는 작전인원은 화생방 방호시설 내 오염통제구역 및 무해구역에서 제독과정을 거쳐 방호시설 내부로 진입하게 된다. 이 과정에서 부족한 설비 등으로 인해 특정 절차 및 구역에서 병목현상이 발생할 경우 작전인원은 제시간에 방호시설 내로 진입 할 수 없게 되며, 이는 전시 작전 수행의 효율성 저하뿐만 아니라 큰 인명피해로도 이어지게 된다. 현재의 화생방 방호시설 설계기준은 공조시스템 등 특정 설비에 국한되어 있으며, 실제 화생방전 발생 시 실제 진입 소요시간을 고려한 설계기준은 부재한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 화생방 방호시설 진입 소요시간에 크게 영향을 미치는 요소를 시뮬레이션에 반영하여 화생방 방호시설 진입 소요시간을 예측하는 시뮬레이션 모델을 개발하였다. 이를 위해 오염통제구역 및 무해구역에서 이루어지는 행동절차를 세분화하고, 각 행동절차에 소요되는 실제 시간을 측정하여 이를 시뮬레이션에 적용하였다. 또한 진입 소요시간에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 선정하여 이들의 조절을 통해 대안을 작성하고 각 대안별 진입 소요시간 및 전체결과에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 이 모델은 향후 화생방 방호시설 진입 시뮬레이터의 모듈로써 활용될 수 있으며 방호시설 설계 및 운용자의 의사결정 기초자료로 활용될 수 있다.

Improving Accuracy of Soil Property Measurements by NIR Spectroscopy

  • Traditional wet chemical methods for testing of soil properties require extensive time and labor, and cause the discharge of pollutants, making them undesirable for routine soil analyses. This research was conducted to improve the accuracy of soil properties in soil fertility assessments. A total of 140 finely ground soil samples were used to obtain accurate calibrations and validation for estimating soil moisture, OM, and T-N. Finely ground soil samples satisfied the improved accuracy for routine NIR measuring of the field soils. The results indicated that NIR spectroscopy could be used as a routine method for quantitatively determining OM, moisture, and T-N of field soil, although this technique requires many combinations of sample pretreatments and data manipulations to obtain optimal predictions.

  • The purpose of this study is to estimate human sensibility quantitatively under color stimulation. We measured biological signals such as EEG, ECG, skin conductance and the number of respiration and eye blinking that were compared with color sensibilities mutually. Our result showed that red, yellow and violet color provoked active and exciting senses dominatively and blue, cyan, pink, and black color were involved in tranquil and resting emotions deeply. Our quantitative estimations of color sensibilites are useful in the design of manufactured goods and color therapy.

  • In these days, the wearable devices have been developed for measuring biological data effectively. However, wearable devices have tissue allege and noise problem. Also, it is impossible for a remote center to identify the person whose data are measured by wearable devices, which could trigger a communication problem over treatment. To solve these problems, biometric measurement based on a non-contact method, such as face image sequencing is necessary. This makes it possible to measure biometric data without any operation and side effects. This system can monitor the biological signals of people in real time without allege and noise and simultaneously identify them. In this paper, we propose an authentication process while measuring biometric data, through a non-contact method.

경기도 6개 호소의 수질 영양단계 및 지표종에 관한 연구 (Water Trophic States and Biological Indicators of Phytoplankton at Six Reservoirs in Gyeonggi-do)

  • From six reservoirs in Gyeonggi-do, we have collected the distribution and standing crop of phytoplankton since Nov. 2005 through Sep. 2006. As a result, the phytoplankton appeared totally 340 taxa belong to 7 classes, 15 orders, 5 suborders, 32 families, 4 subfamilies, 84 genera, 283 species, 43 varieties, 9 forms and 5 unidentified species. The standing crop was shown as minimum was 0.3 × 106 cells and maximum was 5,950 × 106. The relation of standing crop with TN, TP and Chl-a showed as positive. Total 12 taxa including 2 taxa of blue-green algae occurred to every seasons at six lakes, and it was thought that they distributed in mesotrophic state. Also, Achnanthes minutissima, Aulacoseira granulata, Eudorina elegans, Gloeocystis ampla, Pandorina morum, Pediastrum simplex var. duodenarium, Scenedesmus ecornis were regarded as the indicators of eutrophic state. From the estimation of LTSI and TSI, it was shown that the rest of lakes except for Idong reservoir of winter were eutrophic states.

Divergence time estimation of an ancient relict genus Mankyua (Ophioglossaceae) on the young volcanic Jejudo Island in Korea

  • Mankyua chejuense is the only member of the monotypic genus Mankyua (Ophioglossaceae) and is endemic to Jejudo Island, Korea. To determine the precise phylogenetic position of M. chejuense, two cpDNA regions of 42 accessions representing major members of lycophytes are obtained from GenBank and analyzed using three phylogenetic analyses (maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood, and Bayesian inference). In addition, the divergence time is estimated based on a relaxed molecular clock using four fossil calibration points. The phylogenetic position of Mankyua still appears to be uncertain, representing either the earliest diverged lineage within Ophioglossaceae or a sister to the clade containing Ophioglossum and Helminthostachys. The most recent common ancestor of Ophioglossaceae and its sister lineage, Psilotum, was estimated to be 256 Ma, while the earliest divergence of Mankyua was estimated to be 195 Ma in the early Jurassic.

농지-임야 유역의 비점원 발생 BOD 부하의 추정 (Estimation of BOD Loading of Diffuse Pollution from Agricultural-Forestry Watersheds)

  • Forestry and agricultural land uses constitute 85% of Korea and these land uses are typically mixed in many watersheds. Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) concentration is a primary factor for managing water qualities of the water resources in Korea. BOD loadings from diffuse sources, however, not well monitored yet. This study aims to assess BOD loadings from diffuse sources and their affecting factors to conserve quality of water resources. Event Mean Concentration (EMC) of BOD was calculated based on the monitoring data of forty rainfall events at four agricultural-forestry watersheds. Exceedence cumulative probability of BOD EMCs were plotted to show agricultural activities in a watershed impacts on the magnitude of EMCs. Prediction equation for each rainfall event was proposed to estimate BOD EMCs: $EMC_{BOD}(mg/L)=EXP(0.413+0.0000001157{\times}$(discharged runoff volume in $m^3$)+0.018${\times}$(ratio of agricultural land use to total watershed area).
