Concerns on environmental waste problems caused by non-biodegradable petrochemical-based plastic packaging materials as well as consumer's demand for high quality food products has caused an increasing interest in developing biodegradable packaging materials using annually renewable natural biopolymers such as polysaccharides and proteins. However, inherent shortcomings of natural polymer-based packaging materials such as low mechanical properties and low water resistance are causing a major limitation for their industrial use. By the way, recent advent of nanocomposite technology rekindled interests on the use of natural biopolymers in the food packaging application. Polymer nanocomposites, especially natural biopolymer-layered silicate nanocomposites, exhibit markedly improved packaging properties due to their nanometer size dispersion. These improvements include increased mechanical strength, decreased gas permeability, and increased water resistance. Additionally, biologically active ingredients can be added to impart the desired functional properties to the resulting packaging materials. Consequently, natural biopolymer-based nanocomposite packaging materials with bio-functional properties have huge potential for application in the active food packaging industry. In this review, recent advances in the preparation and characterization of natural biopolymer-based nanocomposite films, and their potential use in food packaging applications are addressed.
One of the most economically viable processes for the bioconversion of many lignocellulosic waste is represented by white rot fungi. Phanerochaete chrysosporium is one of the important commercially cultivated fungi which exhibit varying abilities to utilize different lignocellulosic as growth substrate. Examination of the lignocellulolytic enzyme profiles of the two organisms Phanerochaete chrysosporium and Rhizopus stolonifer show this diversity to be reflected in qualitative variation in the major enzymatic determinants (ie cellulase, xylanase, ligninase and etc) required for substrate bioconversion. For example P. chrysosporium which is cultivated on highly lignified substrates such as wood (or) sawdust, produces two extracellular enzymes which have associated with lignin deploymerization. (Mn peroxidase and lignin peroxidase). Conversely Rhizopus stolonifer which prefers high cellulose and low lignin containg substrates produce a family of cellulolytic enzymes including at least cellobiohydrolases and ${\beta}-glucosidases$, but very low level of recognized lignin degrading enzymes.
In previous study, a new allocation methodology of common cost on multi-product have been suggested. The aim of this study is to suggest the methodology that allocates an environment pollution cost including carbon emission cost to each cost of multi-product. For this study, a supposed multi-energy system composed of twenty kinds of systems was made. The multi-energy system produces eighteen kinds of outputs that are electricity, steam, hot water, chilled water, ice, warm air, and cooling air from seven kinds of energy source that are LNG, coil, geothermal energy, sun heat, hydrogen, bio-mass, and waste. The new methodology was applied to the multi-energy system in order to allocate the environment pollution cost to each production cost, and twenty seven equations were induced. From this result, it is concluded that this methodology can estimate each unit cost and allocate each cost flow in any product of any energy system.
Soil biofiltration is an environmentally-sound technology for elimination of VOCs, odorous and $NO_X$ compounds from a low concentration, high volume waste gas streams because of its simplicity and cost-effectiveness. This study investigated the optimal mixture fraction of briquet ash, compost, soil and loess for $NO_X$ degradation. Extreme vertices design was used to examine the role of four components on $NO_X$ degradation. Under our experimental conditions, 74.5% of $NO_X$ degradation was observed, using a model mixture(25% briquet ash, 10% compost, 30% soil and 40% loess) containing 100 ppb of NO. It was shown that experimental design analysis could allow selecting optimal conditions in such biodegradation processes in this study.

Currently, the global atmosphere around the world is altering at a very rapid pace. Among those changes, some are beneficial, but most of the changes are lead to destruction to our planet. The area of environmental science is a significant resource for learning more about these changes. Due to the urbanization, the human population is increasing, natural resources becoming very limited. To solve the limited resources issues, recycling is absolutely an alternative source for the new demands and limitations. Recycling education is very important to raise awareness among students and their communities about the need for recycling and what materials are recyclable locally. In this paper, we reported the role of sustainability science and technology and the impact of recycling research education in the middle schools, both in developing countries and Asian countries and also we included the brief data of global recycling of waste.

A column-switching semi-micro HPLC method with fluorescence detection was developed for the direct analysis of rebamipide in human plasma. Plasma was filtered through a 0.45 $\mu\textrm{m}$ membrane filter and 5 ${\mu}\ell$ of the filtrate was directly injected onto the pre-column. After elution of the plasma proteins to waste, the retained rebamipide and internal standard(ofloxacin) were transferred to a C18 semi-microcolumn (5$\mu\textrm{m}$, 150 ${\times}$2.0mm) where they were separated using acetonitrile-1.4% acetic acid (40:60, v/v) as mobile phase. Monitoring contaminants in waste landfills on a seabed is important because the leachate affects the marine ecosystem and facility stability. The objective of this study is to optimize a time-domain reflectometry (TDR) probe using different coating materials and several electrodes to estimate contaminants in saline soil. Copper concentrations ranging from 0 mg/L to 10 mg/L were mixed in 3% salinity water to simulate contaminants in the ocean environment. Epoxy, top-coat, and varnish were used as coating materials, and two to seven electrodes were prepared to vary the number and arrangement of the electrodes. Test results showed that the varnish stably captured the increase in copper concentration, while the other coating materials became insensitive or caused leakage current. In addition, a TDR probe with more electrodes exhibited stable and distinct electromagnetic signals. Thus, the TDR probe with seven electrodes coated with varnish was effectively used to estimate contaminants in saline soil.
