In this paper, we propose a telemedicine system based ECG data using a bio-signal meter and a smart device for treating faraway patients. This system is composed of a patch-shaped portable bio-signal meter, patient's smart device application, and doctor's PC software. Using these components, doctors and patients can do telemedicine. First, a patient measures his own ECG signal with a bio-signal meter and send the data to a doctor using a smart device application. Then, the doctor checks the ECG data, and make and send a diagnosis chart to web server. Likewise, doctors and patients can be offered a medical environment without time and space restraints. Applying this system to real medical system can improve the problem of low accessibility and efficiency and also can reduce medical expenses.
Recently, the next-generation advanced flow visualization techniques such as holographic PIV, aynni.c PIV, echo-PIV, micro/nano-PIV, and X-ray PIV have been introduced. These advanced mea-surement techniques have a big potential as the core technology for analyzing outmost thermo-fluid flows in future. They would be indispensable in solving complicated thermo-fluid flow problems not only in industrial fields such as automotive, space, electronics, aero- and hydro-dynamics. steel, and information engineering, but also in the research fields of medical science, bio-medical engineering, environmental and energy technology etc. Especially, NT (Nano Technology) and BT (Bio Technology) strongly demand these advanced measurement techniques, because it is impossible for conventional measurement methods to observe the nano- and bio-fluidic flow phenomena. In this article, the basic principle of these high-tech flow visualization techniques and their practical applications which cannot be resolved by conventional methods, such as blood flows in a micro-tube, in vivo analysis of micro-circulation, and flow around a living body are introduced as a blue ocean strategy.
Recently, several advanced flow visualization techniques such as Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) including stereo PIV, holographic PIV, and dynamic PIV have been developed. These advanced techniques have strong potential as the experimental technology which can be used for verifying numerical simulation. Medical laser equipment using optical energy is used to surgery and treat diseases by destroying and removing tissue. Domestic laser equipment has been used steadily in the skin and cosmetics sectors and has been changed to radiate high-power energy in a wide range to shorten patient treatment time. However, side effects such as burns and damage of normal tissues occurred. To solve this problem, techniques for detecting lesions using an imaging device and selectively radiating the laser have been developed. In this study, we proposed an evaluation method to evaluate the safety and performance of target detection accuracy, laser irradiation accuracy and motion protection device technology derived from product analysis and investigation. Finally, the validity of the evaluation method was evaluated by evaluating the imaging device based laser equipment as the proposed evaluation method.
Objectives : The purpose of this research is to verify the effects of the Electromagnetic acupuncture(EMA) on BL15 by Pupil size variability(PSV) which is directly related to the activation of the Autonomic Nervous System. Methods : Thirty male subjects participated in this study and were divided into three groups(non-stimulated, manual acupuncture and EMA group). The size of pupil was measured in the cube place of $60{\times}60{\times}60$ cm in order to avoid the effect of the surrounding circumstances. All subjects were measured the size of left pupil about 200sec in the constant illumination. Results : We observed the decrease in PSV of manual acupuncture group compared to non-stimulation group, but it was not significant statistically(p>0.05). The decrease in PSV of EMA group was observed in comparison to two groups, and we confirmed the result of significant difference statistically(p<0.05). Conclusions : We concluded that EMA treatment method is enough to activate in the parasympathetic nerve system by inducing the biotransformation.
Electrogastrography(EGG) is the technique by which gastric myoelectrical activity is recorded noninvasively, from surface electrodes on the abdominal skin. In older to know the relation between the signal of the gastric mil and the EGG signal, we measured the gastric myoelectrical activity in animals using surface electrodes and serosal electrodes, and measured the gastric contraction simultaneously using a strain gauge attached to the gastric wall we compared the signals with and without the gastric contraction.
BACKGROUND: Bioprinting has recently appeared as a powerful tool for building complex tissue and organ structures. However, the application of bioprinting to regenerative medicine has limitations, due to the restricted choices of bio-ink for cytocompatible cell encapsulation and the integrity of the fabricated structures. METHODS: In this study, we developed hybrid bio-inks based on acrylated hyaluronic acid (HA) for immobilizing bio-active peptides and tyramine-conjugated hyaluronic acids for fast gelation. RESULTS: Conventional acrylated HA-based hydrogels have a gelation time of more than 30 min, whereas hybrid bio-ink has been rapidly gelated within 200 s. Fibroblast cells cultured in this hybrid bio-ink up to 7 days showed >90% viability. As a guidance cue for stem cell differentiation, we immobilized four different bio-active peptides: BMP-7-derived peptides (BMP-7D) and osteopontin for osteogenesis, and substance-P (SP) and Ac-SDKP (SDKP) for angiogenesis. Mesenchymal stem cells cultured in these hybrid bio-inks showed the highest angiogenic and osteogenic activity cultured in bio-ink immobilized with a SP or BMP-7D peptide. This bio-ink was loaded in a three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting device showing reproducible printing features. CONCLUSION: We have developed bio-inks that combine biochemical and mechanical cues. Biochemical cues were able to regulate differentiation of cells, and mechanical cues enabled printing structuring. This multi-functional bio-ink can be used for complex tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
Cell separation from a heterogenous mixture sample is an essential process for downstream analysis in biological, chemical, and clinical applications. This study demonstrates an integrated hybrid device of the viscoelastic focusing in a straight rectangular channel and subsequent size-based separation using acoustophoresis to attain high efficiency and separation tunability. For particle pre-alignment in a viscoelastic fluid, the flow rate higher than 10 μl/min was required. Surface acoustic wave-based lateral migration of particles with different sizes (13 and 27 ㎛) was examined at various applied voltages and flow rate conditions. Therefore, the flow rate of 100 μl/min and the applied voltage of 20 Vpp can be used for size-based particle separation.
