깻묵 이온교환체의 이온교환능 (Capacity of Oil Cake Ion Exchanger)

  • 콩깻묵과 들깻묵을 각각 인산화 및 술폰화하여 이온교환체를 만들었다. 이렇게 만든 40-60 매쉬의 이온교환체를 사용하여 여러농도의 염산과 알코올 혼합용매에서 이온교환용량, 몇가지 금속 이온에 대한 흡착능 및 분포계수를 알아보았다. 깻묵 이온교환체의 이온교환용량은 4 meq/g 이상이었으며, 깻묵 이온교환체에 대한 금속이온은 일반적으로 pH가 증가함에 따라 증가하였다. 특히 술폰화된 콩깻묵 이온교환체에서는 Co(II)가 높은 흡착을 나타내었다. 또한 분포계수는 여러 금속에 있어서 알코올 용매분자의 탄소수가 증가하거나 히드록시기의 수가 증가함에 따라 감소한다. 이는 알킬기의 입체이성 현상이나, 리간드의 인력이 크게 작용했기 때문인 것으로 보인다. 만들어진 콩깻묵 이온교환체는 시판되는 이온교환체와 거의 비슷한 이온교환능을 가지고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

다이 및 와이어 본딩 공정을 위한 Sn-Sb Backside Metal의 계면 구조 및 전단 강도 분석 (Enhancing Die and Wire Bonding Process Reliability: Microstructure Evolution and Shear Strength Analysis of Sn-Sb Backside Metal)

  • In this study, we report the microstructural evolution and shear strength of an Sn-Sb alloy, used for die attach process as a solder layer of backside metal (BSM). The Sb content in the binary system was less than 1 at%. A chip with the Sn-Sb BSM was attached to a Ag plated Cu lead frame. The microstructure evolution was investigated after die bonding at 330 ℃, die bonding and isothermal heat treatment at 330 ℃ for 5 min and wire bonding at 260 ℃, respectively. At the interface between the chip and lead frame, Ni3Sn4 and Ag3Sn intermetallic compounds (IMCs) layers and pure Sn regions were confirmed after die bonding. When the isothermal heat treatment is conducted, pure Sn regions disappear at the interface because the Sn is consumed to form Ni3Sn4 and Ag3Sn IMCs. After the wire bonding process, the interface is composed of Ni3Sn4, Ag3Sn and (Ag,Cu)3Sn IMCs. The Sn-Sb BSM had a high maximum shear strength of 78.2 MPa, which is higher than the required specification of 6.2 MPa. In addition, it showed good wetting flow.

개선된 성능을 갖는 4치 D-플립플롭 (Quaternary D Flip-Flop with Advanced Performance)

  • 본 논문에서는 개선된 성능을 갖는 4치 D-플립플롭을 제안하였다. 제안된 4치 D 플립플롭은 뉴런모스를 기반으로 바이어스 인버터, 온도계 코드 출력회로, EX-OR 게이트, 전달 게이트를 이용하여 4치 항등 논리회로(Identity logic circuit)를 구성하고, 이를 2진의 RS 래치 회로와 결합하여 설계하였다. 설계된 회로들은 3.3V 단일 공급 전원에서 $0.35{\mu}m$ 1-poly 6-metal COMS 공정 파라미터 표준조건에서 HSPICE를 사용하여 모의실험 하였다. 모의실험 결과, 본 논문에서 제안된 4치 D 플립플롭은 100MHz 전후까지의 빠른 동작속도로 측정되었으며 PDP(Power dissipation-delay time product)와 FOM(Figure of merit)은 각각 59.3pJ과 33.7로 평가되어졌다.

High Crystalline Epitaxial Bi2Se3 Film on Metal and Semiconductor Substrates

  • The binary chalcogenide semiconductor Bi2Se3 is at the center of intensive research on a new state of matter known as topological insulators. It has Dirac point in their band structures with robust surface states that are protected against external perturbations by strong spin-orbit coupling with broken inversion symmetry. Such unique band configurations were confirmed by recent angle-resolved photoelectron emission spectroscopy experiments with an unwanted n-type doping effect, showing a Fermi level shift of about 0.3 eV caused by atomic defects such as Se vacancies. Since the number of defects can be reduced using the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) method. We have prepared the Bi2Se3 film on noble metal Au(111) and semiconductor Si(111) substrates by MBE method. To characterize the film, we have introduced several surface sensitive techniques including x-ray photoemission electron spectroscopy (XPS) and micro Raman spectroscopy. Also, crystallinity of the film has been confirmed by x-ray diffraction (XRD). Using home-built scanning tunneling microscope, we observed the atomic structure of quintuple layered Bi2Se3 film on Au(111).

  • The phase transition between amorphous and crystalline states in chalcogenide semiconductor films can controlled by electric pulses or pulsed laser beam; hence some chalcogenide semiconductor films can be applied to electrically write/erase nonvolatile memory devices, where the low conductive amorphous state and the high conductive crystalline state are assigned to binary states. Memory switching in chalcogenides is mostly a thermal process, which involves phase transformation from amorphous to crystalline state. The nonvolatile memory cells are composed of a simple sandwich (metal/chalcogenide/metal). It was formed that the threshold voltage depends on thickness, electrode distance, annealing time and temperature, respectively.

Variable Blue Stragglers in the Metal-Poor Globular Clusters in the Large Magellanic Cloud - Hodge 11 and NGC1466

  • Blue straggler stars (BSs) are "rejuvenated" main sequence stars first recognized by Allan Sandage from his observation of the prominent northern globular cluster M3 in the year of 1953. BSs are now known to be present in diverse stellar environments including open clusters, globular clusters, dwarf galaxies, and even the field populations of the Milky Way. This makes them a very useful tool in a wide range of astrophysical applications: Particularly BSs are considered to have a crucial role in the evolution of stellar clusters because they affect on the dynamics, the binary population, and the history of the stellar evolution of the cluster they belong to. Here we report a part of the preliminary results from our ongoing research on the BSs in the two metal-poor globular clusters (GCs) in the Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC), Hodge 11 and NGC1466. Using the high precision multi-band images obtained with the Advanced Camera for Survey (ACS) onboard the Hubble Space Telescope (HST), we extract time-series photometry to search for the signal of periodic variations in the luminosity of the BSs. Our preliminary results confirm that several BSs are intrinsic "short period (0.05 < P < 0.25 days)" variable stars with either pulsating or eclipsing types. We will discuss our investigation on the properties of those variable BS candidates in the context of the formation channels of these exotic main sequence stars, and their roles in the dynamical evolution of the host star clusters.

휴믹산에 의한 유기 염소계 농약의 수중 용해도 증가에 중금속이 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (Effect of heavy metal on the solubility enhancement of organochlorine pesticides by humic acids)

  • 많은 유기 염소계 농약들은 환경에서 매우 지속적이며, 먹이 사슬을 통해서 중요하게 생물학적으로 농축하는 경향이 있다. 농업에 적용되는 농약은 지표수의 유출이나 지하수의 흐름을 통해서 사실상 수 계로 이동되어지기 때문에 수환경에 특히 많은 영향을 끼치게 된다. 이 논문의 연구 목적은 두 가지 다른 휴믹산에 의한 유기 염소계 농약인 lindane과 dieldrin의 수중 용해도 증가에 중금속인 납 이온이 미치는 영향에 대해 알아보고자 하는 것이다. 또한 유기 염소계 농약이 두 가지 혼합물로 존재할 때 각각의 용해도에 서로의 상호작용에 대해서도 연구해 보고자 하였다. 휴믹산에 의한 lindane의 용해도 증가 정도는 거의 일정하였지만, 이에 비해 휴믹산에 의한 dieldrin의 수중 용해도 증가는 훨씬 증가함을 보여주었다. 또한 수중에 휴믹산과 납이 공존하면 dieldrin의 용해도는 납이 존재하지 않을 때보다 더욱 감소하였다.

급속응고된 비정질 Zr-Be 합금 용가재를 이용한 Zircaloy-4의 브레이징 특성 (Brazing Characteristics of Zircaloy-4 Using Rapidly Solidified Amorphous Zr-Be Alloy Filler Metals)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the brazing characteristics between Zircaloy-4 nuclear fuel cladding tubes and bearing pads with filler metals of amorphous $Zr_{1-x}Be_x$(0.3$\leq$x$\leq$0.5) binary alloy, in which they were produced in the ribbon form by the melt-spinning metod. The crystallization behavior, stability, hardness and micro-structure of brazed zone were examined by X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry, micro-Vickers hardness test, optical microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. $Zr_{1-x}Be_x$(0.3$\leq$x$\leq$0.4) amorphous alloys were crystallized to $\alpha$-Zr with increasing the temperature, and the rest were transformed to ZrBe$_2$at higher temperatures. On the other hand, $Zr_{1-x}Be_x$(0.4$\leq$x$\leq$0.5) amorphous alloys were crystallized to $\alpha$-Zr and ZrBe$_2$, simultaneously. The thickness of the layer brazed with amorphous alloy was increased with increasing the beryllium content due to the higher diffusion of Be. The morphology of brazed layer with PVD Be filler metal showed dendrite while that brazed with amorphous alloys appeared globular. Micro-Vickers hardness of brazed zone increased as the beryllium content of filler metal was decreased.

다공성 물질을 이용한 CO2 포집 및 분리: 다공성 탄소와 유연한 MOF 비교 연구 (CO2 Capture & Separation in Microporous Materials: A Comparison Between Porous Carbon and Flexible MOFs)

  • The stereotype of flexible MOFs(Amino-MIL-53) and carbonized porous carbon prepared from renewable resources is successfully synthesized for $CO_2$ reduction application. The textural properties of these microporous materials are investigated, and their $CO_2$ storage capacity and separation performance are evaluated. Owing to the combined effects of $CO_2-Amino$ interaction and its flexibility, a $CO_2$ uptake of $2.5mmol\;g^{-1}$ is observed in Amino-MIL-53 at 20 bar 298 K. In contrast, $CH_4$ uptake in Amino-MIL-53 is very low up to 20 bar, implying potential sorbent for $CO_2/CH_4$ separation. Carbonized samples contain a small quantity of metal residues(K, Ca, Mg, S), resulting in naturally doped porous carbon. Due to the trace metal, even higher $CO_2$ uptake of $4.7mmol\;g^{-1}$ is also observed at 20 bar 298 K. Furthermore, the $CH_4$ storage capacity is $2.9mmol\;g^{-1}$ at 298 K and 20 bar. To evaluate the $CO_2$ separation performance, the selectivity based on ideal adsorption solution theory for $CO_2/CH_4$ binary mixtures on the presented porous materials is investigated.

Novel Method for Stripping of Molybdenum(VI) after Its Extraction with Cyanex 301

  • Hydrofluoric acid has been used as a novel stripping agent for molybdenum(VI) after its extraction with Cyanex 301. In the extraction step, the effects of parameters such as type and initial concentration of acid, type of diluent, extractant concentration, metal concentration and temperature have been studied. In the stripping step, the effects of various stripping agents on stripping efficiency have been investigated. Hydrofluoric acid has been chosen as an effective stripping agent, and the effects of concentration of hydrofluoric acid, stripping time, volume of hydrofluoric acid and the number of stages of stripping have been studied. Molybdenum(VI) has been effectively separated from a large number of elements in binary mixtures, with a very high tolerance limit. Finally, the optimized method has been extended for the analysis of Mo(VI) in spent molybdenum catalysts.
