  • We present a general N-body exasolar system simulator in anticipation of upcoming searches for exoplanets and even exomoons by next generation telescopes such as James Webb Space Telescope. For habitable zones, traditionally defined by temperature, we here address the essential problem of dynamical stability of planetary orbits. Illustrative examples are presented on P-type orbits in stellar binary systems, that should be fairly common as in Kepler 16b. Specific attention is paid to reduced orbital lifetimes of exoplanets in the habitable zone by the stellar binary, that is propoesed by Maurice van Putten (2017). Especially, we focused on a classic work of complex three-body problem that is well known by Dvorak(1986). We charge his elliptic restricted three-body problem to extend unrestricted three-body problem to look into dynamical motions in view of circumbinary planet, furthermore, we suggest that opposite angular orientation of the planet is relative to the stability of orbits. In here, counter-rotation case is relatively more faster than co-rotation case for being stable. As a result, we find that various initial conditions and thresholds to approach dynamical stability and unstability with unexpectable isolated islands over enormous parameter space. Even, superkeplerian effect of binary is important to habitability of the exoplanet and we can verify that superfaster binary doesn't effect on th planet and increases survivality of planet around the binary.

  • This paper presents a sensorless speed control of an interior permanent magnet synchronous motor using an adaptive integral binary observer and fuzzy logic controller. In view of composition with a main loop regulator and an auxiliary loop regulator, the binary observer has a property of the chattering alleviation in the constant boundary layer. However, the steady state estimation accuracy and robustness are dependent upon the width of the constant boundary. In order to improve the steady state performance of the binary observer, the binary observer is formed by adding extra integral dynamics to the switching hyperplane equation. Also, because the conventional fixed gain PI controller are very sensitive to step change of command speed, parameter variations and load disturbance, the fuzzy logic controller is used to compensate a fixed gain PI controller. Therefore, a gain PI is fixed and the IPMSM is drived at another speed region. The effectiveness of the proposed the adaptive integral observer and the fuzzy logic controller are confirmed by experimental results.

  • In this study, vapor-liquid equilibrium (VLE) data at several isothermal temperatures for carbon dioxide and ethane binary systems were estimated using binary interaction parameters (BIP's) in Peng-Robinson (PR) equation of state built-in PRO/II with PROVISION (PRO/II) process simulator. Moreover, BIP's in PR equation of state were newly determined by regressing the experimental VLE data for carbon dioxide and ethane systems for each different isothermal temperatures using the summation of squares of the bubble point deviations as an objective function. Comparative works have been performed for absolute average deviation % (AAD(%)) between experimental and predicted bubble pressures using built-in BIP's in PRO/II and newly regressed one, respectively. Our calculation results gave a better estimation result than the simulation result using an existing parameter built-in PRO/II.

  • Variable structure control (VSC) can be used for the control of power plants required stability and robustness such as elevator control. It has no overshoot and is insensitive to parameter variations and disturbances in the sliding mode where the system structure is changed with the sliding surface in the center. But in the real system, VSC has a high frequency chattering which has a bad influence upon the control system proformances. In this paper, to alleviate the high frequency chattering, a binary controller (BC) with inertial type external loop is implemented by DSP and applied to position control of brushless DC motor. Binary controller has external loop to generate the continuous control input with the flexible variation of primary loop gain. Thus it has the property of chattering alleviation in addition to advantages of the conventional variable structure control.

  • Suitable design and operation of distillation process is very dependent on vapor-liquid equilibrium calculation. The usual calculation method is use binary interaction parameter. Flash points of n-propanol+n-butanol and 2-butanol+n-butanol were measured by Seta-flash closed cup tester. Experimental Flash points were compared with those calculated by the method based on Raoult's law and the optimization method using Wilson equation. The binary interaction parameters obtained by the optimization method are then used to calculate the bubble points of n-propanol+n-butanol and 2-butanol+n-butanol.

  • Brake theory of viscosity, which can sucessfully calculate the viscosity of real gases, dense gases and liquids, is extended to the binary gas mixture. Adjustable parameters are not involved, but the calculated results are good agreements with the experimental values at high pressure as well as low pressure. Corresponding state equation for viscosity can be obtained by using the Redlich-Kwong equation, so that we hope this equation may be useful for the supercritical fluid in engineering applications at high pressure around the critcal point.

  • We present a new scheme to increase the performance of edge-preserving image smoothing from the parameter tuning of a Markov random field (MRF) function. The method is based on automatic control of the image smoothing-strength in MRF model ing in which an introduced parameter function is based on control of enforcing power of a discontinuity-adaptive Markov function and edge magnitude resulted from discontinuities of image intensity. Without any binary decision for the edge magnitude, adaptive control of the enforcing power with the full edge magnitude could improve the performance of discontinuity-preserving image smoothing.

  • The performance of conventional direct sequence code division multiple access (DS-CDMA) systems is decreased under environments such as additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), channel distortion and interference noise due to multiple access user. By means of this parameter, auto correlation value of pseudo noise spreading sequence is decreased at receiver. This techniques which are based on correlation of between signature waveform signal. In this paper, to improve correlation property, we proposed the binary chirp DS-CDMA techniques which combine the DS-CDMA and chirp modulation. The proposed system which is based on binary chirp symbol has a good correlation value. Thus, we called BC DS-CDMA. To evaluate the system's performance, we compare the performance of the proposed systems with DS-CDMA systems under AWGN channel and halogen noise which exists on the powerline. The simulation results show that the proposed method has better performance than conventional technique.

  • This paper describes a new parameter for voice activity detection which serves as a front-end part for automatic speech recognition systems. The new parameter called run-ratio is derived from the runs test statistic which is used in the statistical test for randomness of a given sequence. The run-ratio parameter has the property that the values of the parameter for the random sequence are about 1. To apply the run-ratio parameter into the voice activity detection method, it is assumed that the samples of an inputted audio signal should be converted to binary sequences of positive and negative values. Then, the silence region in the audio signal can be regarded as random sequences so that their values of the run-ratio would be about 1. The run-ratio for the voiced region has far lower values than 1 and for fricative sounds higher values than 1. Therefore, the parameter can discriminate speech signals from the background sounds by using the newly derived run-ratio parameter. The proposed voice activity detector outperformed the conventional energy-based detector in the sense of error mean and variance, small deviation from true speech boundaries, and low chance of missing real utterances

  • Digital halftoning is to quantize a grayscale image to binary image. The error diffusion halftoning generates high quality bilevel image. But that also has some defects such as warms effect, sharpening and etc. To reduce these defects, Kite proposed the modified threshold modulation that has a parameter to control sharpening. Nevertheless some degradation left near edges with large luminance change. In this paver, we propose a method to control the parameter in proportional to local edge magnitude. The results of computer simulation show more reductions of the sharpening in the halftone image. Especially there are great improvement of quality near edges with large luminance change.
