We report a case of sternal reconstruction using bilateral sternal bar turnover flaps in a 4-year-old boy with an inferior sternal cleft, as part of Cantrell's pentad. When the patient was 10 months old, he underwent sternal reconstruction using a resorbable poly-L-lactic-polyglycolic acid plate in the first stage when there was insufficient autogenous tissue to provide a reliable reconstruction. Bilateral sternal bar turnover was performed in the second stage at 4 years of age. This operative technique is described in this report. This novel technique provides a robust, dynamic, and reliable reconstruction for inferior sternal defects.

Kimura disease is a rare idiopathic chronic inflammatory disorder. It typically presents in the head and neck area, whereas bilateral involvement is unusual. Its diagnosis requires it to be differentiated from other inflammatory diseases and from head and neck tumors. Treatment methods include conservative management, steroid administration, radiotherapy, and surgery; however, no single treatment of choice has been established. Herein, we report an unusual presentation of Kimura disease with bilateral parotid involvement. This case was treated by surgical excision.

This paper presents experimental results on the energy-bounding approach to a rate-mode bilateral teleoperation control that can guarantee the robust system stability in variable time-delayed telecommunication environments. Previously, rate-mode energy bounding approach [15] was proposed and verified with experimental results using the simulated remote slave model. In this paper, a real experimental setup using an industrial robot (Denso) as a remote slave robot composed and conducted similar experiments with previous paper. In order to guarantee stability of the Denso when contacting with high impedance wall, velocity based impedance control modified by position based is used. Experimental results show that the rate-mode energy bounding approach can guarantee stable bilateral teleoperation system in the free and contact motion with variable time delay.

It is well known that the two main variants of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) ruptures in an adolescent include tibial eminence fractures and midsubstance tears. Authors report a case of 17-year-old girl with simultaneous bilateral anterior cruciate ligament ruptures at the ligamento-osseus junction of tibial attachment which was treated with arthroscopic primary repair.

The purpose of this survey was to reveal a incidence of dens invaginatus in the max. illary incisor region. The material was 1671 sets of full mouth intraoral standard films, which was taken from the patients visiting for the routine check at the Infirmary of College of Dentistry, Kyung Hee University. The following results were obtained; 1. The incidence of dens invaginatus was 14.90 and that of slightly dilated dens invaginatus was 9.46%. 2. The incidence of dens invaginatus showed no difference between male and female. 3. Most of the dens invaginatus occurred in the maxillary lateral incisors (93.53%) and a few in the maxillary central incisors (6.46%) showed slight invagination. 4. Among the cases with dens invaginatus, over a half (53.4l%) showed bilateral occurrence. 5. Comparatively rare cases, i.e. bilateral dens invaginatus of the maxillary central incisors, unilateral double dens invaginatus of the maxillary lateral incisor, and bilateral dens invaginatus of the maxillary lateral incisors, one side double and one side single, were reported.

Elastofibroma is a very rare lesion and one of the most unusual pathologic condition which a surgeon or pathologist can encounter. The elastofibroma is a completely benign lesion that is characteristically localized in the subscapular lesion. The lesion is characterized by abundant benign fibrous tissue and sparse accumulation of elastic fibers. It may occur in the old age and was not found in the adolescence or infant. Most of the elastofibroma involve unilaterally and bilateral involvement is less common. A case of bilateral elastofibroma located in the subscapular region that was treated with marginal excision is reported.

The objective of this study was to compare the total surgical time, pain score and hemorrhage after ovariohysterectomy (OVH) and bilateral flank ovariectomy (BFOVE) with hemoclips in dogs. OVH was operated on six dogs and BFOVE was performed on six dogs. In BFOVE group, both ovarian pedicle hemostasis applied using hemoclips after removing ovaries. Total surgical time was recorded from starting incision of skin to closure last skin suture. Pain score was measured at 2, 6, 12, and 24 hours after surgery based on University of Melbourne Pain Scale (UMPS). Hemorrhage around clipping area, uterus, abdominal muscles, and skin were monitored after surgery. BFOVE technique could reduce total surgical time and pain after surgery. There was no hemorrhagic problems near ovarian pedicles following surgery. BFOVE with hemoclips could be useful and recommended for sterilization in dog.

The extent of resection and release of the trachea is important for successful anastomosis. Bilateral bronchial dissection is one of the release techniques for resection of the lower trachea. We present the experience of cervical video-assisted mediastinoscopic bilateral bronchial release for long segmental resection and anastomosis of the lower trachea.

A 9-year-old boy who was confirmed measles by clinical manifestations and serum measles IgM antibody presented with bilateral visual loss 12 days after the onset of maculopapular rash. Complete ophthalmic and neurologic examinations, radiologic studies, and lumbar puncture were performed. Visual acuities were counting fingers in both eyes, with mild bilateral optic disk hyperemia and swelling noted. Neurologic examination was unremarkable, however, a magnetic resonance imaging of the brain showed high signals on basal ganglia, and periventricular white matter. The cerebrospinal fluid was devoid of white cells. Intravenous methylprednisolone and high dose immunoglobulins were administered, and clinical findings resolved completely within 6 months.

The bilateral periodontal cysts in the 36 years old korean male's upper both anterior regions between the central and lateral incisors have been observed. The authors have treated the bilateral periodontal cysts by means of the apicoectomies of the involved both central and lateral incisors.
