Developing countries may pay attention to bibliometric indicators in accordance with their scientific development plans. Bibliometrics research topics and bibliometric indicators have grown dramatically in Iran since 2000 as a part of the post-war reconstruction programs. This paper aims to highlight how scientometrics may attract attention in developing countries such as Iran in response to national movements in education and science. An in-depth review on available guidelines for promotion of innovation, science, and technology in Iran was done followed by a review on previous research in this topic. Further data were gathered from Scopus and other sources. The findings show a considerable growth in research output of Iran in recent years and expansion of bibliometrics studies and jobs accordingly. Combined with research output measures, more attention was found in academia about cross-section development of science and technology in Iran. The demand in society has led to the foundation of scientometrics programs in Iranian universities as well as scientometrics departments in central libraries and research deputies in major academic institutions. The changing image of science and research in Iran has a relation with the growth of scientometrics academic and professional departments. The lessons taught from this mutual collaboration can be used in other developing nations.

Software is not only control and operational technology of computer, various system, and machines, but also knowledge handling and service technology for production, storage, and utilization of digital information. Many nations invest enormous budget in SW R&D to acquire core and original technology, and commercialize. To select and concentrate on SW R&D investment by segmenting diverse functions and element technologies consisting of sw technology, introduction of evaluation and analysis methodology on technology level utilizing reliable patent and bibliometrics is demanded these days. The purpose of this paper is to suggest some analysis frameworks of national technology level in the field of sw technology. Another practical purpose is to verify sw technology policy using qualitative and quantative indicators of patent and bibliometrics.

This paper explores multi-technology capabilities between Korea and Taiwan by analyzing the pattern of inventive activities concerning technology fusion by using patent bibliometrics. Although two countries exhibit a similar level of invention activities and high degree of specialization in emerging technologies measured by the number and technological fields of their US patents, innovation systems in two countries differ. MTCs (multi-technology corporations) are stronger in Korea national innovation system while small innovative firms play important roles in Taiwan national innovation system. Technology fusion has been an important source of technological innovation and it suggests possible advantage for the Korean innovation system because it is a common belief that global size firms - most of them are multi-technology corporations - can perform better in multi-technology fusion and scientific research. The result of patent bibliometrics suggests rather complex answers to the belief Even though Korea shows slight advantage, it may not be ascribed to the large MTCs.

This study is intended for international cooperation in the field of LED were analyzed. The results, LED wide coverage areas, and a promising future is expected to grow fast enough to occupancy for a major national technology is a competitive situation. Chip Scale Package, including our country, such as LED manufacturing technology that might be competitive in parts, but new technologies such as renal substrate R&D and technology development still active preemption is not the situation. Renal substrate, particularly, large-diameter sapphire, large size/large LED manufacturers, such as a promising area for future research and development support will be needed. To do this, previous research in this area and the U.S., Japan cooperation in such studies also will need to expand. Bibliometrics way through this study, analytical techniques and analytical tools used in the integrated analysis of the usefulness and necessity of the system development were found.

In order to understand the author's activities and recent subjects, to examine the academic characteristics of information science through cited pattern and bibliometrics law, and to be basic references for researchers who interested in information science materials, this study was performed by method of bibliometrics analysis of JASIS from the year of 1990 to July, 1993. The materials were 180 papers and 1173 cited literatures of information retrieval which were contained in the issues. These were analysed through SAS and classified as source literature analysis and information retrieval analysis.

Due to the nature of the construction industry, massive and diverse data is generated and collected from each project. It can be classified into a number of variables that specify the distinct characteristics of construction projects. However, a variable is used in different terms depending on the users. This situation plays as a great barrier to effective construction information management and also has limitations to collective research and practice. As a solution, it is essential for developing common and shared variables. In this context, the aim of this study is to define systematically organized standard variables for globally collaborative construction management. The standard variables are identified by bibliometrics analysis with VOSviewer, and the bibliographic data is collected from the Scopus with 13,533 documents about construction management.

In this study, pathfinder network analysis has been carried out to identify subject domains of documents which cited articles in the ASIST Proceedings. This represents how articles in the ASIST Proceedings are flowed and used in what subjects areas. For this analysis, 240 documents were selected through a search of the Scopus database. The complete linkage clustering method was used to draw out 16 clusters from 240 documents. Through MDS and pathfinder network analysis, knowledge networks of clusters have been produced. As a result. articles in the ASIST Proceedings relating to knowledge management, bibliometrics, information retrieval and digital libraries have been cited actively by other publications. The most frequent citation flow type of ASIST proceedings was citation from proceedings(ASIST) to reviews(ARIST), via journals, and the most popular subject areas related to documents were bibliometrics.

Technological forecasting for microprocessor market can provide timely insight into the prospects for significant technological changes in computer hardware as well as software. In this paper, we use bibliometrics to forecast R&D trend on microprocessor technology. Cumulative numbers of US Patents on several generations of microprocessor technology (pipeline, superpipeline, supersclar and VLIW) approved since 1980 are applied to fit diffusion models. Our study results provide both the maximum market potential and the maturity time for each generation of microprocessor technology. Such information is expected to make contribution on making better decisions with regard to strategic corporate planning, R&D management, product development and investment in new technology of microprocessor.

This paper deals with firstly the origin and development as well as definition of bibliometrics, secondly the research areas and basic laws in the field, thirdly the various techniques used in bibliometric analyses according to the fundamental bibliometric data : publications. references and citations, and producers of scientific publications, and finally the applications of bibliometric techniques, including those in librarianship and information management, and those in the study of science and scientists.
