  • As the number of public Web Services increases, there will be many services with the same functionality. These services. however, will vary in their QoS properties, such as price, response time and availability, and it is very important to choose a best service while satisfying given QoS constraints. This paper brings parallel branching and response time constraint of business processes into focus and investigates several service selection plans based on multidimensional multiple choice Knapsack model. Specifically. proposed in the paper are a plan with response time constraints for each execution flow, a plan with a single constraint over the whole service types and a plan with a constraint on a particular execution path of a composite Web Services. Experiments are conducted to observe the performance of each plan with varying the number of services, the number of branches and the values of response time constraint. Experimental results show that reducing the number of candidate services using Pareto Dominance is very effective and the plan with a constraint over the whole service types is efficient in time and solution quality for small to medium size problems.

  • GIS-based applications for route guidance are increasingly developed recently, but most of them are for self$.$driven cars. Although some of them are intended for public transportation, they show limitations in dealing with time constraints problems taken place in transfer areas. Developing a public transportation guidance system requires the fallowing aspects: (i) people may change transportation means not only within the same type but also among different modes such as between buses and subways, and (ii) the system should take into account the time taken in transfer from one mode to the other. This study suggests the framework for developing a public transportation guidance system that generates optimized paths in the transportation network of mixed means including buses, subways and other modes. For this study, the Genetic Algorithms are used to find the best routes that take into account transfer time and other service-time constraints. The method for constructing the data structure in the GIS was also suggested.

  • In case of a emergency situation or a natural disaster, a warning notification system is an essential tool to notify at-risk people in advance and provide them useful information to survive the event. Although some systems have been proposed such as emergency alert system using android, SMS, or P2P overlay network, these works mainly focus on a reliable message distribution methods. In this paper, we proposed a novel design and implementation of a personalized warning notification system to help inform not only the at-risk people but also their family and friends about the coming disaster as well as escape plan and survival information. The system consists of three main modules: the user selection module, the knowledge based message generator, and message distribution modules. The user selection module collects the list of people involved in the event and sorts them based on their level of involvement (their location, working position and social relationships). The knowledge based message generator provides each person with a personalized message that is concise and contains only the necessary information for the particular person based on their working position and their involvement in the event. The message distribution module will then find a best path for sending the personalized messages based on trustiness of locations since network failures may exist in a disaster event. Additionally, the system also have a comprehensive database and an interactive web interface for both user and system administrator. For evaluation, the system was implemented and demonstrated successfully with a building on fire scenario.

  • The water leakage of reservoir embankment usually occurs around channelling pipes, which gives little influence on the embankment in a normal state. However, the embankment can be destroyed when the water level of reservoir increases with heavy rain and the rainy season in summer. Investigating the water vein and its path is therefore very important from the viewpoint of disaster prevention and embankment maintenance. The water leakage in dams and levees where the channelling pipes are working as weak zone was analyzed by using both numerical simulation and experimental method in this study. To detect the water leakage, an electrical resistivity survey was used and investigated for its' usability. The numerical results show the size and location of weak zone increases the importance of selection of electrode spacing. The leakage experiments of model embankment present the best result is obtained under the conditions of electrode spacing of 0.3m and dipole-dipole array. By studying the water leakage in dams and levees, the electrical resistivity survey is observed it is a very useful method to predict the leakage.

  • In the Internet environment in which best-effort services are provided, we need to guarantee end-to-end performance rather than hop performance to provide services with a variety of QoS(Quality of Service) requirements. The end-to-end performance is affected by many factors along the path of traffic flow. Most existing simulation studies are concentrated on a single node or a few nodes. We need much different approach considering the simulation execution time to simulate a large-scale network. In this paper, we derive requirements and present methodologies for the implementation of the simulator to simulate it. Then, we design and implement our simulator using OPNET. Performance evaluation is carried out using the simulator for large-scale KII (National Information Infrastructure in Korea). We use a self-similar traffic model and present some results on the end-to-end performance metric for the networks.

  • This paper deals with the routing and wavelength assignment problem (RWAP) that decides the best lightpaths for multiple packet demands for (s,t) in optical communication and assigns the minimum number of wavelengths to given lightpaths. There has been unknown of polynomial-time algorithm to obtain the optimal solution for RWAP. Hence, the RWAP is classified as NP-complete problem and one can obtain the approximate solution in polynomial-time. This paper decides the shortest main and alternate lightpath with same hop count for all (s,t) for given network in advance. When the actual demands of communication for particular multiple packet for (s,t), we decrease the maximum utilized edge into b utilized number using these dual-paths. Then, we put these (s,t) into b-wavelength bins without duplicated edge. This algorithm can be get the optimal solution within O(kn) computational complexity. For two experimental data, the proposed algorithm shows that can be obtain the known optimal solution.

  • Background: Work-related fatigue has a strong impact on performance and safety but so far, no agreed upon method exists to detect and quantify it. It has been suggested that work-related fatigue cannot be quantified with just one test alone, possibly because fatigue is not a uniform construct. The purpose of this study is therefore to measure work-related fatigue with multiple tests and then to determine the underlying factorial structure. Methods: Twenty-eight employees (mean: 36.11; standard deviation 13.17) participated in five common fatigue tests, namely, posturography, heart rate variability, distributed attention, simple reaction time, and subjective fatigue before and after work. To evaluate changes from morning to afternoon, t tests were conducted. For further data analysis, the differences between afternoon and morning scores for each outcome measure and participant (${\Delta}$ scores) were submitted to factor analysis with varimax rotation and each factor with the highest-loading outcome measure was selected. The ${\Delta}$ scores from tests with single and multiple outcome measures were submitted for a further factor analysis with varimax rotation. Results: The statistical analysis of the multiple tests determine a factorial structure with three factors: The first factor is best represented by center of pressure (COP) path length, COP confidence area, and simple reaction time. The second factor is associated with root mean square of successive difference and useful field of view (UFOV). The third factor is represented by the single ${\Delta}$ score of subjective fatigue. Conclusion: Work-related fatigue is a multidimensional phenomenon that should be assessed by multiple tests. Based on data structure and practicability, we recommend carrying out further studies to assess work-related fatigue with manual reaction time and UFOV Subtest 2.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of the synthetic forest road network by calculating the optimal road density and layout of the forest road network in order to construct the systematic road network in the forested area. For this, five comparative routes were additionally planed and compared through evaluation indicators. As a result, the optimum road density of the study site was estimated to be 18.4 m/ha, and the synthetic forest road network was the best in the four indicators such as average skidding distance, standard deviation of skidding distance, development index, and circuity factor. In addition, the synthetic forest road network was comparable to the main road network by about 4 %p in the timber volume available and potential area size for logging, but the construction cost of the road was about 20 %p lower. It showed a synthetic forest road network was better in terms of economy.

  • It is important to obtain reasonable predictions of the extent of the damage during maritime accidents such as ship collisions and groundings. Many fracture models based on different mechanical backgrounds have been proposed and can be used to estimate the extent of damage involving ductile fracture. The goal of this study was to compare the damage extents provided by some selected fracture models. Instead of performing a new series of material constant calibration tests, the fracture test results for the ship building steel EH36 obtained by Park et al. (2019) were used which included specimens with different geometries such as central hole, pure shear, and notched tensile specimens. The test results were compared with seven ductile fracture surfaces: Johnson-Cook, Cockcroft-Latham-Oh, Bai-Wierzbicki, Modified Mohr-Coulomb, Lou-Huh, Maximum shear stress, and Hosford-Coulomb. The linear damage accumulation law was applied to consider the effect of the loading path on each fracture surface. The Swift-Voce combined constitutive model was used to accurately define the flow stress in a large strain region. The reliability of these simulations was verified by the good agreement between the axial tension force elongation relations captured from the tests and simulations without fracture assignment. The material constants corresponding to each fracture surface were calibrated using an optimization technique with the minimized object function of the residual sum of errors between the simulated and predicted stress triaxiality and load angle parameter values to fracture initiation. The reliabilities of the calibrated material constants of B-W, MMC, L-H, and HC were the best, whereas there was a high residual sum of errors in the case of the MMS, C-L-O, and J-C models. The most accurate fracture predictions for the fracture specimens were made by the B-W, MMC, L-H, and HC models.
