측면 연마 편광 유지 광섬유와 평면 도파로 사이의 소산장 결합을 이용한 광센서 (Optical Sensor Based on Evanescent Field Coupling Between Side-Polished Polarization Maintaining Fiber and Planar Waveguide Coupler)

  • We have investigated the optical characteristics of a directional coupler made of a side-polished polarization maintaining fiber in contact with a multimode planar waveguide and its applications as sensors. A device structural condition to achieve the polarization insensitive wavelength response has been presented. The fabricated devices revealed a superior immunity to the bending and the deformation of PM fibers in the input section. It is experimentally shown that the proposed device is suitable for a remote fiber sensor.

  • In this paper, we propose a flex sensor-based data glove to track the movements of human fingers for virtual reality education. By putting flex sensors and utilizing an accelerometer, this data glove allows people to enjoy applications for virtual reality (VR) or augmented reality (AR). With the maximum and minimum values of the flex sensor at each finger joint, it determines an angle corresponding to the bending value of the flex sensor. It tracks the movements of fingers and hand gestures with respect to the angle values at finger joints. In order to prove the effectiveness of the proposed data glove, we implemented a VR classroom application.

  • 본 논문에서는 플라스틱 광섬유 센서가 운전자의 졸음 방지용 센서로서 응용 가능한 지에 관하여 논의된다. 졸음방지용 플라스틱 광섬유 센서는 광섬유의 구부림이 잘 유도될 수 있도록 소프트한 물질로 덮개를 씌운 핸들에 플라스틱 광섬유가 감겨져 여는 구조로 되어져 있다. 운전자가 핸들을 잡을 때 운전자가 핸들에 힘을 가하게 되고 이 힘이 플라스틱 광섬유의 구부림을 유도하여 플라스틱 광섬유 내부를 진행하는 빛의 양을 감소시킨다. 실험 결과로부터 핸들에 가해지는 힘이 크면 클수록 검출되는 광량이 적어짐을 보여주어 졸음 방지용 센서로서의 사용할 수 있음을 검증해 보인다.

  • 전도성 고분자는 전기적 에너지를 기계적 에너지로 직접 전환할 수 있는 물질로서 액츄에이터 물질로 사용될 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 다양한 합성조건에서 합성한 폴리피롤의 두께를 측정하고 여러 두께의 고분자 필름의 기계적 벤딩을 측정하고 해석하였다. 기계적 벤딩의 측정을 위해 bridge 형태의 시편으로 bending beam method를 사용하였다. 폴리피롤의 두께는 합성시간에 선형적으로 비례하며 전류밀도에도 비교적 큰 전류밀도를 제외하고는 선형적으로 증가하였다. 가장 큰 변위는 $5.4{\mu}A/mm^2$, 120분에서 합성된 $18.35{\mu}m$ 두께의 필름이 0.1Hz의 주파수에서 나타났다.

  • Optimal processing and system to produce the laser welded tube for one body formed bumper beam are studied. The calculated size of tube is a thickness of 1.4mm, diameter of 105.4mm and length of 2000mm. The tube is shaped from cool rolled high strength steel sheet(tensile strength: 60kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ grade). Two roll bending method is the optimal tube shaping process compared to UO-bending, bending on press brake, multi-step continuous roll forming and 3 roll bending methods. Weld quality monitoring and seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis are also studied. The longitudinal butt-joint is welded by the $CO_2$ laser welding system equipped with a seam tracker and plasma sensor. The constructed $CO_2$ laser tube welding system can be used for the precision seam tracking and the real-time monitoring of weld quality. Finally, the obtained laser welded tube can be used for one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

  • A study has been conducted for an optimal processing and an apparatus for manufacturing a laser welded tube for one-body formed bumper beam. The tube dimensions used in calculation were the thickness of 1.4 mm, the diameter of 105.4 mm and the length of 2000 mm. The tube was formed of a cold rolled high strength steel plate(tensile strength of 600 MPa). The two-roll bending method was the optimal tube forming process in comparison with the UO-bending method, the bending method on the press brake, the multi-step continuous roll-forming method and the 3-roll bending method. Monitoring of the welding quality was conducted and the seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis was also examined. The longitudinal butt-joint was welded by using a $CO_2$ laser welding machine equipped with a seam tracker and a plasma sensor. The $CO_2$ laser tube welding machine could be used for precise seam tracking and real-time monitoring of the welding quality. As a result, the developed laser welded tube could be used for a one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

손가락 외골격용 전기활성 고분자 구동체-센서 하이브리드 구조체의 굽힘 동작 제어 (Bending Motion Control of Electroactive Polymer Actuator-Sensor Hybrid Structure for Finger Exoskeleton)

  • This study was conducted in order to develop a finger exoskeleton system using ionic polymer metal composites (IPMCs) as the actuator and sensor in a hybrid structure. To use the IPMC as an actuator producing large force, a first order transfer function was obtained using results from a block force for DC excitation that applied to two IPMCs of 20mm-width, 50mm-length, and 2.4mm thickness together. After which the validation of 200gf control with anti-windup PI controller was confirmed. A 5mm-width, 50mm-length, 0.6mm-thickness of IPMC was also modeled as a sensor for tip displacement. As a result, the IPMC sensor could been utilized as a trigger role for the actuator. Finally, an IPMC sensor and actuator were installed on the joint of a single DOF exoskeleton in the hybrid structure, and test for the control of 40gf of block force and predefined sequence of motion was performed.
