  • Hot press forming is a new forming process which also names as hot stamping. It can greatly enhance the formability of forming parts. This paper researches the formability of boron steel sheet in hot bending process which is a kind of hot press forming. In the text, the influence of hot press forming processing parameters, such as the heating temperature, blank holding force, punch speed and punch and die radius, on the mechanics properties and microstructure of the hot bending parts was analyzed by tension test and the metallographic observation on the parts with various processing parameters. The relationship between blank holding force and punch load was also presented.

  • Ion exchange polymer membrane in the dehydrated state was found to exhibit bending upon a small applied voltage, although the investigations on the hydrated ion exchange polymer membrane bending behavior have been performed quite intensively for more than a decade for the purpose of producing a practical polymer actuator. Our investigation on the dehydrated ion exchange polymer membrane has revealed that its bending direction is perfectly controllable by the polarity control of applied voltage and the degree of its bending curvature is also almost completely determined by the control of duration time of voltage application on it, while the hydrated ion exchange polymer membranes lack of such properties. Furthermore the longevity of dehydrated ion exchange polymer membrane sustaining such a highly controllable properties has been found quite longer than that of the hydrated ion exchange polymer membrane.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the solid wood bending properties of red pine(Pinus densiflora S. et Z.)naturally grown in Korea by boiling treatment The specimens were green and their dimension was $15\times15\times350mm$. The optimum conditions for solid wood bending processing of pine lumber are shown in Table 6 and the minimum solid bending radius was 240 mm in boiling treatment. The effects of knot on the degradation of bending processing properties were very severe and the failures of diagonal and torn grained wood were 20% and 30% respectively.

  • Strip bending test has been frequently utilized to measure the mechanical properties of freestanding thin films in substitute for the micro-tensile test. However, in spite of its simplicity and reliability, strip bending test has a few problems, for example, the measurement of strain and the calculation of stress at zero strain. In this study, these problems are precisely reviewed and proved. Upon this review, strip bending tester has been developed, which uses the confocal laser displacement meter to measure the deformed configuration of the specimen and the possibility and limitation of this testing system is carefully investigated including the estimation of uncertainty of the measurement of strain. Finally, to prevent errors and to improve the accuracy of this testing system, the shape of the specimen has been carefully studied and is proposed.

  • The overhead transmission wires operating both at warm temperature and tighten state for a long period of time in a power transmission plant are degraded by air pollution, wind, creep and slip between steel wire and aluminium conductor. The objective of this study is to investigate a high carbon steel wire. We tested for basic mechanical properties and 3 types fatigue behavior, tension-tension, 4 points bending and 3 points bending fatigues. In this study, a conventional fatigue strengths between 4 points bending and tension-tension fatigue were determined by Gerber, Sorderberg and Goodman's theory and we investigated S-N diagram for bending and tensile loading.

  • Kinds, shapes and fraction ratios of fibers have influence on properties of HPFRCC(High-Performance Fiver Reinforced Cementitious Concrete ) like bending strength, strain capacity and fracture toughness. For example, hydrophilic fibers have different chemical bond strength from hydrophobic fibers, fiber shapes influence on fiber pull-out and rupture, and fiber volume fraction influence on bending strength. In this study, to estimate influences of kinds, shapes and fraction ratios of fibers, we make HFRCC with 3 kind of fiber in various volume fraction of fiber and compare cracking, bending strength and fracture toughness. As the results, bending strength of HPFRCC was increased as fiber volume fraction was Increase and fiber tensile strength was increase, and strain capacity and fracture toughness of HFRCC was higher in fiber pull-out fracture than in fiber rupture fracture. And HFRCC showing pseudo strain hardening has higher fiber reinforce efficiency than others.

  • $\beta$-Tricalcium phosphate ($\beta$-TCP) particles reinforced bioresorbable plastics poly-L-lactide (PLLA) composites were prepared by injection molding. The nominal weight ratio of $\beta$-TCP was selected as 5, 10 and 15%. In order to clarify effects of the PLLA crystallinity on the mechanical properties, the specimens were heat treated isothermally. Results of differential scanning calorimetry indicated that the PLLA crystallinity increased with increasing heat treatment temperature. Bending and compressive tests were conducted on the specimen with different $\beta$-TCP contents and crystallinities. The results show that the bending and compressive moduli increased with increasing $\beta$-TCP contents and crystallinity. On the other hand, bending strength decreased with increasing $\beta$-TCP contents. Maximum bending strength was obtained at the heat treatment of $70^{\circ}C$ for 24 h, whereas compressive 0.2% proof strength increased with increasing heat treatment temperature. This difference is attributed to the difference in the microscopic damages.

  • This study surveys the mechanical properties such as bending and shear properties to the weight reduction rate of PET fabrics. For this purpose, 12 kinds of satin and 18 kinds of plain weave fabrics are prepared with change of the physical properties of weft yarn(T.P.M., density, and denier) The weight reduction rate was 0%, 12%, 25%, and 30%. Bending rigidity and hysteresis, shear rigidity and hysteresis were measured and discussed with theoretical values in relation with weft twist, yarn linear density, weft fabric density and weave structures.

  • Ginkgo trees have long been planted in Korea as roadside trees and ornamental trees, but the wood was seldom used except some utilization f3r small artifacts. Soaring prices of imported wood and future uncertainty about long-term supply of foreign woods have stimulated research on value-added utilization of less-utilized domestic wood resources such as Ginkgo wood. The processing properties of Ginkgo wood were investigated to determine its utilization potential in this study, and the results of treatability, drying characteristics, gluability, paintability, bending properties, chemical discoloration characteristics were presented.

  • The mechanical properties of composites are significantly affected by external environment. It is essential to understand the degradation of material performance and judge the material's lifetime in advance. In the current research, changes in mechanical properties of glass fiber and unsaturated polyester composite materials (GFRP, Glass fiber reinforced plastic) were investigated under different bending stress and submerged in hot water at a temperature of $80^{\circ}C$. Loading time of 100 H (hours), 200 H, 400 H, 600 H, 800 H for testing under stresses equal to 0% (stress-free state), 30%, 50% and 70% of the ultimate strength was applied on the GFRP specimens. From the values of bending stress, obtained from three-point bending test, fracture energy, failure time, and life curve were analysed. Moreover, a normalized strength degradation model for this condition was also developed. It was observed that within 100 H, the decline rate of the bending strength was proportional to the pressure.
