Behcet Disease is a multisystem inflammatory disorder of unknown orign. It is characterized by recurrent oral ulcer, genital ulcer, skin lesions and ocular inflammation, and which may involve the joints, skin, central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract. Because Behcet Disease dose not have any specific symptoms and laboratory findings, the diagnosis is made on the basis of the criteria proposed by the the International Study Group for Behcet Disease. Behcet Disease is affecting both arteries and veins, and clinically manifest large vessel involvement occurs in between 7 and 49% of patients. Superior vena cava thrombosis is a rare but well-recognized manifestation of Behcet disease. We report a case of a Behcet Disease with superior vena cava thrombosis in a patient presenting delayed facial wound healing.

Cardiovascular involvement in cases of Behcet's disease is a rare but life-threatening condition, and prosthetic valve detachment is a frequent and serious complication attributable to Behcet's disease following the surgical repair of aortic regurgitation. We report the case of a patient with Behcet's disease presenting with contained aortic rupture around the aortic root. The patient had previously undergone aortic valve surgery three times due to recurrent prosthetic valve detachment. An emergency operation was performed, consisting of aortic root replacement (ARR) using a composite valved conduit and the replacement of the hemiarch. ARR may be an appropriate surgical option for patients with Behcet's disease in order to prevent recurrence of the disease.

Behcet's disease is a systemic disease affecting multiple organs including the central nervous system. Neuro-Behcet's disease was regarded as relatively rare, but thanks to the development of diagnostic tools, more and more cases are being reported. We are reporting a case of neuro-Behcet's disease in which the patient displayed paraparesis, dysarthria and involuntary tremor as neurologic symptoms. The patient's brain MRI showed cerebellar atrophy, and a spinal cord MRI failed to reveal any significant lesions. The patient experienced a couple of fever attacks during hospitalization, which were managed adequately by herbal medicines. Her main neurological symptoms such as paraparesis were, however, grossly unchanged at discharge.

Behcet`s disease is a rare systemic disease of unknown cause and it is a progressive disorder with episodes of activity and remission. The major features are oral and genital ulceration and skin and eye lesions. Pulmonary involvement is rare, and we have experienced a 38 year old female patient who had undergone right lower lobe lobectomy due to extensive, rapidly growing pulmonary thromboemboli and pseudoaneurysm in pulmonary artery.

Chronic oral aphthae, recurrent ulcer and uveitis are the three main festations of Behcet's disease(BD). The aetiopathogenesis of Behcet's disease is still obscure, but herpes simplex virus is one of the possible casual factors. Gamchosasim-tang (Gancaoxiexin-tang), Banhasasim-tang(Banxiaxiexin-tang) and Saenggangsasim-tang( Shengjiangxiexin-tang) are traditional medication in Oriental medicine, that has been used to treat inflammatory disease. Especially, Gamchosasim-tang used to treat Behcet's disease like symptoms. ICR mice were used for this study. The earlobe of the mice were scratched with a needle, then inoculation with 1.0×10/sup 6/ plaque forming units/㎖ of HSV type I. Virus inoculation was performed twice with 10 day interval, followed by 16 weeks of observation. Using the HSV-induced Behcet's disease mouse model, kinds of Sasim-tang were administered variously before and after inoculation. In order to. classify the symptomatic mice as having Behcet's disease like symptoms. We followed the revised Japanese classification with minor modifications. Ulceration of the mice were monitored. In addition, spleen cytokine expression were measured by polymerase chain reaction, ELISA. HSV DNA was detected in HSV inoculation mice. HSV-induced mice treated with kinds of Sasim-tang showed improvement in symptom. In RT-PCR results, IFN-γ was expressed for all groups, IL-2 was expressed for the treated groups, and IL-10 was also expressed. IL-4 was expressed nothing. In ELISA, IL-2 was increased for GSST 2, BSST 2, GSST 2, GSST3 and INF-γ was increased for GSST 2, BSST 2, SSST 2, SSST 3. This model suggest the possible role of immune response to viral infection in the development and activation of Behcet's disease.

This study was designed to report treatment for Behcet's disease with arthritis We treated 2 Behcet's disease patients with arthritis. A 46-year-old female patient was treated with Cheongsimyeonja-tang. Another case, 44-year-old female patient was diagnosed as Sjogren's disease at first and diagnosed as The Behcet's diseases about 1 year later, treated with Cheonglijagam-tang. The progress was evaluated with the visual analogue scale for joint pain and hot flush, and length of sleeping time. There was improvement in the symptoms of visual analogue scale for joint pain and hot flush, also length of sleeping time. Cheongsimyeonja-tang, Cheonglijagam-tang can be considered as a treatment for patient diagnosed as Behcet's disease suffering from arthritis, especially.

Background and Objective : Erythema nodosum-like lesions in patients with Behcet's disease is a reactive dermatosis that occurs in response to various stimuli, such as bacterial, fungal and viral infections, drugs and malignancies. We observed and treated a case of erythema nodosum-like lesions with Behcet's disease. We present this case because there were no former reports of erythema nodosum-like lesions with Behcet's disease treated by herbal medicine. Methods : The patient was a 28-year-old. The chief complains were erythema, nodose, edema, burning sensation, tenderness on both legs, forearms and feet, arthralgia and genital ulcers. She was treated with Wolbi-Tang for eleven days. We diagnosed the medication according to the results of manual abdominal examination of the patient. We used the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS). Results : After the treatment the grade of VAS was decreased and clinical symptoms were improved. Conclusions : Wolbi-Tang can be used on the treatment of erythema nodosum-like lesions with Behcet's disease.

Behcet's disease is a chronic relapsing vasculitis characterized by recurrent aphthous oral and genital ulcers with uveitis. Multiple organs can be involved. Entero-Behcet's disease is often uncontrollable, relapsing, and can cause acute intestinal bleeding, fistula formation, or perforation. Corticosteroids, immunosuppressors, and colchicines are used to treat Entero-Behcet's disease with varying degree of success. Thalidomide may also be feasible. We present a 29-year-old male Entero-Behcet's patient suffering from abdominal pain, diarrhea, and back pain. He did not respond to prior treatments, but responded to thalidomide.

베체트병은 구강 생식기의 궤양, 안구와 피부 병변을 주 증상으로하고 심혈관계, 호흡기계, 소화기계, 중추신경계, 비뇨기계를 침범하여 다양한 증상을 나타낼 수 있다. 베체트병에서 경동맥류와 장천공의 동반은 드문 경우로, 병리소견과 병력상 베체트병으로 진단 받은 환자에서 상기 병증에 대한 수술을 시행하였기에 보고하는 바이다.

소아 베체트병은 상당히 드문 질환으로 전체 베체트병의 약 2~3%에 해당한다. 이 중 장 점막과 관련된 경우는 2~50%까지 다양하게 보고되나, 대부분이 40~50대 성인에서 보고되는 내용이며 소아 베체트병 환자에서 장 천공이 보고된 증례는 극히 드물다. 본 증례는 4년 9개월된 남아로, 베체트병을 진단받은 후 약물 치료하며 추적 관찰 중, 지속되는 복통이 있어 시행한 대장 내시경상에 다발성 장점막 궤양이 관찰되었고, 이후 스테로이드 용량 감량하며 경과 관찰하던 중 장 천공이 발생하여 수술한 1예를 경험하였기에 보고하는 바이다.
