  • This study examined the effects of RSM (Regional Science education resource Map), developed and provided by Busan metropolitan city Office of Education, at high schools in Busan. Two group of students, who were in the same level of achievement as well as other environmental conditions, participated in this study. Twenty nine of students as an experimental group experienced outdoor activities utilizing RSM, while thirty of students as a control group did not participate in any outdoor activities. The results indicated that compared to the control group of students, the experimental group of students represented a significant improvement in students' environmental attitudes, local ecological interest and eco-friendly behavior. The teachers who guided outdoor activities utilizing RSM suggested that RSM needs to be further subdivided by seasons as well as local districts. They also suggested that RSM needs to be linked with a school curriculum.

  • Among the prerequisite abilities (perception of environment, path planning and position estimation) of an autonomous mobile robot, position estimation has been seldom studied by mobile robot researchers. In most cases, conventional positioin estimation has been performed by placing landmarks or giving the entrire environmental information in advance. Unlikely to the conventional ones, the study addresses a new method that the robot itself can select distinctive features in the environment and save them as landmarks without any a priori knowledge, which can maximize the autonomous behavior of the robot. First, an orjentaion probaility model is applied to construct a lcoal map of robot's surrounding. The feature of the object in the map is then extracted and the map is saved as landmark. Also, presented is the position estimation method that utilizes the correspondence between landmarks and current local map. In dong this, the uncertainty of the robot's current positioin is estimated in order to select the corresponding landmark stored in the previous steps. The usefulness of all these approaches are illustrated with the results porduced by a real robot equipped with ultrasonic sensors.

  • High temperature flow behaviors of AISI 4340 steel were investigated using isothermal compression tests under the temperature range from 850 to $1100^{\circ}C$ and a strain rate from 0.01 to $10s^{-1}$. The flow stress decreased with increasing compression temperature and decreasing strain rate. The dynamic softening related to the dynamic recrystallization was observed during hot deformation. The constitutive model based on Arrheniustyped equation with the Zener-Hollomon parameter was used to simulate the hot deformation behavior of AISI 4340 steel. The modification of the Zener-Hollomon parameter and lnA parameter resulted in the improvement of the calculation accuracy of the proposed constitutive model compared with the experimental flow curves. In addition, the process map of AISI 4340 steel was proposed. The instable process condition for hot deformation was predicted and its reliability was verified with the experimental observation.

  • A series of load-relaxation tests and tensile tests were conducted to study the high temperature deformation mechanism of fine duplex gamma TiAl alloy at temperatures ranging from 800 to 105$0^{\circ}C$. Results of load relaxation test showed that deformation behavior at a small imposed strain ($\varepsilon$≒0.05) was dominated by dislocation glide and dislocation climb. To investigate the deformation behavior at a large amount of strain, the processing map was constructed using a dynamic materials model. Two domains were characterized in the processing map obtained at a strain level of 0.6. One domain was found at the region of 98$0^{\circ}C$ and $10^{-3}/sec$ with a peak efficiency of 48%, which was identified as a domain of dynamic recrystallization from the microstructural observation. The order was observed at the region of 125$0^{\circ}C$ and $10^{-4}/sec$ with a peak efficiency of 64%. The strain rate sensitivity measured indicates that the material was deformed by the superplasticity in the region.

  • A process map has been developed, which can identify the process conditions for weak mechanical bonding at the contact surface during the direct extrusion of a Cu-Ti bimetal wire bundle. Bonding mechanism between Cu and Ti is assumed as a cold pressure welding. Then, the plastic deformation at the contact zone causes mechanical bonding and a new bonding criterion fur pressure welding is developed as a function of the principal stretch ratio and normal pressure at the contact surface by analyzing micro local extrusion at the contact zone. The averaged deformation behavior of Cu-Ti bimetal wire is adopted as a constitutive behavior at a material point in the finite element analysis of Cu-Ti wire bundle extrusion. Various process conditions for bundle extrusions are examined. The deformation histories at the three points, near the surface, in the middle and near the center, in the cross section of a bundle are traced and the proposed new bonding criterion is applied to predict whether the mechanical bonding at the Cu-Ti contact surface happens. Finally, a process map for the direct extrusion of Cu-Ti bimetal wire bundle is proposed.

  • The majority of existing falling recognition techniques provide service by recognizing only that the falling occurred. However, it is important to recognize not only the occurrence of falling but also the situation before and after the falling, as well as the location of the falling. In this paper, we design and propose the falling notification service system to recognize and provide service. This system uses the acceleration sensor of the smartphone to recognize the occurrence of a falling and the situation before and after the falling. In order to check the location of falling, GPS sensor data is used in the Google Map API to map to the map. Also, a crosswalk map converted into grid-based coordinates based on the longitude and latitude of the crosswalk is stored, and the locations before and after falling are mapped. In order to reduce the connection speed and server overload for real-time data processing, fog computing and cloud computing are designed to be distributed processing.

  • Deformation behavior of $Zr_{55}Cu_{30}Al_{10}Ni_5$ (at. %) bulk metallic glass (BMG) fabricated by suction casting method has been investigated at elevated temperatures in this study. The BMG was first verified to have an amorphous structure thru X-ray diffraction (XRD) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). A series of compression tests has consequently been performed in supercooled liquid temperature region to investigate the high temperature deformation behavior. A transition from Newtonian to non-Newtonian flow appeared to take place depending upon both the strain rate and test temperature. A processing map based on a dynamic materials model has been constructed to estimate a feasible forming condition for this BMG alloy.

  • This paper propose a personalized defection detection and prevention procedure based on the observation that potential defectors have tendency to take a couple of months or weeks. For this purpose, possible states of customer behavior are determined from past behavior data using SOM (Self-Organizing Map). For the evaluation of the proposed procedure, a case study has been conducted for a Korean online game site. The result demonstestes that the proposed procedure can assist defection prevention effectively and detect potential defectors without deterioration of prediction accuracy comparison to prediction by MLP. Our procedure can be applied to various service industries that can capture fluent customer behavior data such as telecommunications, internet access services, and content services, too.

  • Cloud computing is a new style of computing in which dynamically scalable and reconfigurable resources are provided as a service over the internet. The MapReduce framework is currently the most dominant programming model in cloud computing. It is necessary to protect the integrity of MapReduce data processing services. Malicious workers, who can be divided into collusive workers and non-collusive workers, try to generate bad results in order to attack the cloud computing. So, figuring out how to efficiently detect the malicious workers has been very important, as existing solutions are not effective enough in defeating malicious behavior. In this paper, we propose a security protection framework to detect the malicious workers and ensure computation integrity in the map phase of MapReduce. Our simulation results show that our proposed security protection framework can efficiently detect both collusive and non-collusive workers and guarantee high computation accuracy.
