  • This paper described a result of finite element analysis considering sewerage damage scale and soil depth, in order to analyze quantitatively for cavity and relaxation zone of underground due to sewerage damage. The mechanical model, which was verified by previous studies, was applied to the finite element analysis. In addition, the mechanical behavior of the soil around the sewerage damage due to the soil loss was simulated by using the forced displacement. Based on finite element analysis results, characteristics of the void ratio distribution, ground subsidence, and shear stress distribution according to sewerage damage scale and soil depth were analyzed. And then, The boundaries of the underground cavity and relaxation zone were determined by using the shear stress reduction characteristics of the ground. Also, an occurrence scope of the cavity and relaxation zone was quantitatively evaluated by the change of sewerage damage scale and soil depth.

  • Track-bridge interaction has become an essential part in the design of bridges and rails in terms of modern railways. As a unique ballastless slab track, the longitudinal continuous slab track (LCST) or referred to as the China railway track system Type-II (CRTS II) slab track, demonstrates a complex force mechanism. Therefore, a comprehensive track-bridge interaction study between multi-span simply supported beam bridges and the LCST is presented in this work. In specific, we have developed an integrated finite element model to investigate the overall interaction effects of the LCST-bridge system subjected to the actions of temperature changes, traffic loads, and braking forces. In that place, the deformation patterns of the track and bridge, and the distributions of longitudinal forces and the interfacial shear stress are studied. Our results show that the additional rail stress has been reduced under various loads and the rail's deformation has become much smoother after the transition of the two continuous structural layers of the LCST. However, the influence of the temperature difference of bridges is significant and cannot be ignored as this action can bend the bridge like the traffic load. The uniform temperature change causes the tensile stress of the concrete track structure and further induce cracks in them. Additionally, the influences of the friction coefficient of the sliding layer and the interfacial bond characteristics on the LCST's performance are discussed. The systematic study presented in this work may have some potential impacts on the understanding of the overall mechanical behavior of the LCST-bridge system.

  • Purpose - This paper analyzes the market efficiency focusing on the long memory properties of the domestic futures market. By decomposing futures prices into yield and volatility and looking at the long memory properties of the time series, this study aims to understand the futures market pricing and change behavior and risks, specifically and in detail. Design/methodology/approach - This study analyzes KOSPI 200 futures, KOSDAQ 150 futures, 3 and 10-year government bond futures, US dollar futures, yen futures, and euro futures, which are among the most actively traded on the Korea Exchange. To analyze the long memory and market efficiency, we used the Variance Ratio, Rescaled-Range(R/S), Geweke and Porter-Hudak(GPH) tests as semi- parametric methods, and ARFIMA-FIGARCH model as the parametric method. Findings - It was found that all seven futures supported the efficiency market hypothesis because the property of long memory turned out not to exist in their yield curves. On the other hand, in futures volatility, all 7 futures showed long memory properties in the analysis, which means that if new information is generated in the domestic futures market and the market volatility once expanded due to the impact, it does not decrease or shrink for a long period of time, but continues to affect the volatility. Research implications or Originality - The results of this paper suggest that it can be useful information for predicting changes and risks of volatility in the domestic futures market. In particular, it was found that the long memory properties would be further strengthened in the currency futures and bond rate futures markets after the global financial crisis if the regime changes of the domestic financial market are taken into account in the analysis.

  • The objective of this study was to assess the association of changes in behaviors and depressed mood during the COVID-19 pandemic in Korea. A cross-sectional internet-based survey was conducted, using proportional samples of Korean adults and a logistic regression model was used to assess the association. As a result, negative changes of daily sitting or lying down time, daily walking time, smoking, and alcohol consumption were associated with being more depressed during the COVID-19 pandemic [odds ratios (ORs): 2.23 (95% CI=1.77-2.81), 2.04 (95% CI=1.63-2.56), 2.84 (95% CI=1.51-5.36), and 1.82 (95% CI=1.26-2.63), respectively]. This indicates that strategies to promote positive health behaviors change (increased activities and decreased consumption of smoking and alcohol) could help address psychological distress during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the recyclability of Shenlong in China using SWOT. The main analysis results are as follows. First, provided that the company's current capacity utilization rate is seriously insufficient, reducing staff is one among the effective ways. Second, Shenlong should open a web store to cater to young people's online shopping behavior, and further expand the brand visibility using national mainstream media and online shopping platforms like Taobao and JingDong to market Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng Citroen on the whole network. Third, under the premise of maintaining the present best-selling models, Shenlong should appropriately reduce the amount of models, adjust the assembly capacity ratio of every model and every displacement in real time per the newest market trends, increase the agility of auto companies' production, and timely meet the wants of domestic consumers. Fourth, dual-brand coordination and channel integration are very necessary, and also the profitability and profitability of dealers are going to be further improved, thereby increasing sales. Fifth, target building new energy leading products of Shenlong, strive to attain the forefront of the industry within the sales of recent energy vehicles within 5 years, and gradually expand new energy vehicle products from passenger vehicles to passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. Finally, the marketing field of Shenlong Automobile should achieve "three major changes", that is, change from a goal-driven type to a demand-driven type, cancel the bundling of outlet invoicing goals and delivery incentive tiers; start from basic capabilities, and set pragmatic and challenging goals; focus Channels, to realize following the activation of outlets, and single store sales increase.

  • In this study, we measure the initial electrical conductivity of SCF/rubber specimens and SCF/rubber specimens with nickel particles respectively. The corresponding electrical conductivity with compressive strain on the specimens is also measured. Through this experiment, we observed the effects of the volume fraction of carbon fiber, nickel particles and external strain on the electrical conductivity. Experiments show that even a small difference in the volume fraction of SCF plays a major role in the change of the electrical conductivity and that the piezoresistivity increases due to fiber reorientation respond to external strain. In addition, the nickel particles contribute to improving the electrical conductivity in specimens with carbon fibers above the threshold volume fraction. It was confirmed that there is an effect of offsetting the increment in the piezoresistivity caused by the reorientation of carbon fibers according to external strain.

  • This study aimed to analyze the wind-induced mechanical energy (WME) of a proposed super high-rise and long-span transmission tower-line system (SHLTTS), which, in 2021, is the tallest tower-line system with the longest span. Anew index - the WME, accounting for the wind-induced vibration behavior of the whole system rather than the local part, was first proposed. The occurrence of the maximum WME for a transmission tower, with or without conductors, under synoptic winds, was analyzed, and the corresponding formulae were derived based on stochastic vibration theory. Some calculation data, such as the drag coefficient, dynamic parameters, windshielding areas, mass, calculation point coordinates, mode shape and influence function, derived from wind tunnel testing on reducedscale models and finite element software were used in calculating the maximum WME of the transmission tower under three cases. Then, the influence of conductors, wind speed, gradient wind height and wind yaw angle on WME components and the energy transfer relationship between substructures (transmission tower and conductor) were analyzed. The study showed that the presence of conductors increases the WME of transmission towers and changes the proportion of the mean component (MC), background component (BC) and resonant component (RC) for WME; The RC of WME is more susceptible to the wind speed change. Affected by the gradient wind height, the WME components decrease. With the RC decreasing the fastest and the MC decreasing the slowest; The WME reaches the its maximum value at the wind yaw angle of 30°. Due to the influence of three factors, namely: the long span of the conductors, the gradient wind height and the complex geometrical profile, it is important that the tower-line coupling effect, the potential for fatigue damage and the most unfavorable wind yaw angle should be given particular attention in the wind-resistant design of SHLTTSs

  • Since human joints can be used as useful information for analyzing human behavior as a component of the human body, many studies have been conducted on human action recognition using joint information. However, it is a very complex problem to recognize human action that changes every moment using only each independent joint information. Therefore, an additional information extraction method to be used for learning and an algorithm that considers the current state based on the past state are needed. In this paper, we propose a human action recognition technique considering the positional relationship of connected joints and the change of the position of each joint over time. Using the pre-trained joint extraction model, position information of each joint is obtained, and bone information is extracted using the difference vector between the connected joints. In addition, a simplified neural network is constructed according to the two types of inputs, and spatio-temporal features are extracted by adding LSTM. As a result of the experiment using a dataset consisting of 9 behaviors, it was confirmed that when the action recognition accuracy was measured considering the temporal and spatial relationship features of each joint, it showed superior performance compared to the result using only single joint information.

  • The Zimbabwean healthcare sector faces huge challenges due to increased demands for improved services for a growing number of patients with fewer resources. The use of information and communications technologies, prevalent in many industries, but lacking in Zimbabwean healthcare, could increase productivity and innovation. The adoption of health management information systems (HMISs) can lead to improved patient safety and high-level patient care. These technologies can change delivery methods to be more patient focused by utilising integrated models and allowing for a continuum of care across healthcare providers. However, implementation of these technologies in the health care sector remains low. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the advantages to be attained by using HMISs in healthcare delivery and to ascertain the factors that influence the uptake of such systems in the public healthcare sector. A conceptual model, extending the technology, organization, and environment framework by means of other adoption models, underpins the study of adoption behavior. A mixed method methodology was used to conduct the study. For the quantitative approach, questionnaires were used to allow for regression analysis. For the qualitative approach, thematic analysis was used to analyse interview data. The results showed that the critical success factors (namely, relative advantage, availability, complexity, compatibility, trialability, observability, management support, information and communication technology expertise, communication processes, government regulation, infrastructure support, organizational readiness, industry and competitive support, external support, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, attitude, and intention to use) influenced adoption of HMISs in public hospitals in Zimbabwe.

  • In this paper the behavior of saturated sand deposits where liquefaction occurred before is studied for successive earthquakes. The relationship between past pore pressure generation and reliquefaction resistance is examined by using cyclic direct simple shear tests. If the soil sample in direct simple shear produced nearly 90% of excess pore pressure during first time loading, its liquefaction resistance increased during following cyclic loading after consolidation. However, a fully liquefied soil during first time loading has a densely packed condition but shows less liquefaction resistance for the following cyclic loading. UBCSAND model that can account for pore pressure change and stiffness loss of soil during shaking is used to analyze the centrifuge test simulating reliquefaction. The pore pressure rise during first time cyclic loading controls liquefaction resistance. The measurements from reliquefaction centrifuge test are compared with numerical predictions. By considering frequent earthquakes having occurred at the Southern Korea near Japan, such effective stress approach is necessary for reliquefaction study.
