Small cells, particularly femtocells, are regarded a promising solution for limited resources required to handle the increasing data demand. They usually boost wireless network capacity. While widespread usage of femtocells increases network gain, it also raises several challenges. Interference is one of such concerns. Interference management is also seen as a main obstacle in the adoption of two-tier networks. For example, placing femtocells in a traditional macrocell's geographic area. Interference comes in two forms: cross-tier and co-tier. There have been previous studies conducted on the topic of interference management. This study investigates the principle of categorization of interference management systems. Many methods exist in the literature to reduce or eliminate the impacts of co-tier, cross-tier, or a combination of the two forms of interference. Following are some of the ways provided to manage interference: FFR, Cognitive Femtocell and Cooperative Resource Scheduling, Beamforming Strategy, Transmission Power Control, and Clustering/Graph-Based. Approaches, which were proposed to solve the interference problem, had been presented for each category in this work.

Coordinated Multi-Point (CoMP) is considered as a technology in the 3rd Generation Partnership Project(3GPP) Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) system. In this paper, we design and analyze the performance of the Coordinated Beamforming (CB) technique, which is one major category of CoMP. We perform Monte Carlo simulations with a Heterogeneous Network (HetNet) in LTE-A, and confirm the performance through a graph of the Cumulative Distribution Function (CDF). From the simulation results, we show significant performance gain with the CoMP technique, and better performance when we apply various schemes of scheduling and precoding.

As the wireless communication technique is developing rapidly, the use of smart devices is increasing. Due to gradually increasing data traffic, a new area, more than 6GHz of bandwidth to increase capacity of the network, has been studied. Millimeter Wave(MmWave) communications utilizes the bandwidth above 6GHz, which makes it possible to achieve one gigabit per second data rate. To overcome the path loss due to the smaller wavelength, the mass of the antenna arrangement is used. This paper presents an algorithm that maximizes the spectral efficiency of the system in the pre-coding process using a hybrid beamforming. Also it is suggested with the optimization of the number of beams that maximizes the spectral efficiency was maximized by the propose method.

A distributed zero-beamforming based cooperative jamming technique is useless when an eavesdropper detects the sharing seed. In addition, the currently alternatives are very limited when the eavesdropper is located nearby a source for wiretapping. This letter presents a solution to this extreme case. Relay randomly generates and transmits a binary jamming message to both source and destination in the first phase. When these two receivers securely and correctly decode the message, the source creates and transmits another message based on the use of exclusive-or for its information message and the decoded message. Consequently, the next transmission can avoid the eavesdropping.
A two-hop multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay network which comprises a multiple antenna source, an amplify-and-forward MIMO relay and many potential users are studied in this paper. Consider the achievable sum rate as the performance metric, a joint design method for the processing units of the BS and relay node is proposed. The optimal structures are given, which decompose the multiuser MIMO relay channel into several parallel single-input single-output relay channels. With these structures, the signal-to-noise ratio at the destination users is derived; and the power allocation is proved to be a convex problem. We also show that high sum rate can be achieved by pairing each link according to its magnitude. The sum rate of three broadcast strategies, time division multiple access (TDMA) to the strongest user, dirty paper coding (DPC), and beamforming (BF) are investigated. The sum rate bounds of these strategies and the sum capacity (achieved by DPC) gain over TDMA and BF are given. With these results, it can be easily obtained that how far away TDMA and BF are from being optimal in terms of the achievable sum rate.

In this paper, three coordinated random beamforming (CRBF) schemes are analyzed in a two-cell symmetric interference channel. A simple partial coordination of RBF with base station selection (BSS) is shown to achieve the same average sum rate performance of CRBF with joint encoding (JE). To improve the sum rate performance further, we also propose a transmission mode selection (TMS) between the BSS and JE which is shown to have additional sum rate gain for the large number of users. Simulation results verify the eectiveness of the proposed CRBF schemes and accuracy of the proposed analysis.

Distributed multi-hop relay scheme to reduce delay-constrained outage probability for broadcast network is proposed. We consider multi-hop relay scheme, which is similar to distributed beamforming, where multiple nodes simultaneously relay packets, and we propose channel access control and power control for relaying nodes to satisfy energy constraint. Compared with flooding which is multi-hop relay scheme used for ZigBee, the proposed scheme is better in terms of outage probability and average reception throughput.

In this paper, a joint destination-relay selection and antenna mode selection scheme for full-duplex (FD) relay network is investigated, which consists of one source node, N FD amplify-and-forward (AF) relays and M destination nodes. Multiple antennas are configured at the source node, and beamforming technique is adopted. Two antennas are employed at each relay, one for receiving and the other for transmitting. Only one antenna is equipped at each destination node. In the proposed scheme, the best destination node is firstly selected according to the direct links between the source node and destination nodes. Then the transmit and receive mode of two antennas at each relay is adaptively selected based on the relaying link condition. Meanwhile, the best relay with the optimal Tx/Rx antenna configuration is selected to forward the signals. To characterize the performance of the proposed scheme, the closed-form expression of the outage probability is derived; meanwhile, the simple asymptotic expressions are also obtained. Our analysis shows that the proposed scheme obtains the benefits of multi-relay diversity and multi-destination diversity. Moreover, extra space diversity in the medium SNR region can be achieved due to the antenna selection at the relay. Finally, Monte-Carlo simulations are provided to consolidate the analytical results, and show the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

In this paper, we study the design of network coding for the generalized transmit scheme in multiple input multiple output Y channel, where K users wish to exchange specified and shared information with each other within two slots. Signal space alignment at each user and the relay is carefully constructed to ensure that the signals from the same user pair are grouped together. The cross-pair interference can be canceled during both multiple accessing channel phase and broadcasting channel phase. The proposed signal processing scheme achieves the degrees of freedom of ${\eta}(K)=K^2$ with fewer user antennas.

The relation of multicast transmission and directional antennas is an open problem that has been debated for a long period of time. In this paper, we propose a group-aware multicast scheme of efficient multicast communication using the directional antennas for 60GHz millimeter wave wireless networks. For this purpose, we first derive the relation among beamwidth, distance between devices and most suitable data rate in the 60GHz frequency-based wireless network. In addition, for the dynamic beamforming of multicast communication, the x and y coordinates of any point with sender device at the center is generated, and a best-chosen group is deduced based on the Euclidean distance. Then the most suitable data rate for the group is obtained using the law of cosine. Using the Standard IEEE 802.11ad MAC protocol as an example, extensive simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme outperforms the existing multicast communication schemes with directional antennas under different situations.
