The paper presents the development of experimental fragility functions for exterior RC beam-column connections based on results obtained from extensive testing carried out in the present study. Three typical types of seismically deficient beam-column connections, which are commonly prevalent in Indian sub-continent, were considered. These specimens were tested under cyclic displacement histories with different characteristics to induce different damage states. Rehabilitation specific fragility functions for damaged specimens were developed considering drift angle as a demand parameter. Four probability distributions were fit to the data and suitability of each distribution was evaluated using standard statistical method. Specimens with different damage states were rehabilitated appropriately and rehabilitated specimens were tested under similar displacement histories. Fragility functions for rehabilitated specimens have also been developed following similar procedure. Comparison of fragility functions for both original and rehabilitated specimens for each rehabilitation method showed close agreement, which establishes the effectiveness of the adopted rehabilitation strategies and hence would provide confidence in field application.

Many RC structures built without seismic provisions have exhibited brittle shear failures in the beam-column joint area, and resulted in large permanent deformations and structural collapse. This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation pertaining to the use of carbon fiber-reinforced polymer(FRP) for strengthening of RC beam-column connections. The selective upgrade is obtained by choosing different combinations and locations of carbon FRP sheets to determine the effective way to improve the structural performance of joints. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvement of flexural capacity and ductility of beam-column connections originally built without seismic details.

The Current design procedures of ACI 318-02 and CEB-FIP for the exterior beam-column joints do not provide engineers with a clear understanding of the physical behavior of the beam-column joints. In this paper, the failure strengths of the exterior beam-column joint specimens tested to failure were evaluated using the approach implementing 3-dimensional strut-tie models, design criteria of ACI 318-02, ACI-ASCE committee 352 and Park and paulay, and softened strut-tie model approach. The analysis results obtained from the 3-dimensional strut-tie models were compared with those obtained from the other approaches, and the validity of the approach implementing 3-dimensional strut-tie models were examined.

This paper provides a method to predict the ductile capacity of reinforced concrete beam-column joints that fail in shear after the plastic hinges occur at both ends of the adjacent beams. The proposed method takes into account shear strength deterioration in the beam-column joints. The shear strength and the corresponding ductility of the proposed method was verified by comparing with the four RC beam-column assembles under reversed cyclic loading corrected from the technical literature. Comparisons between the observed and calculated shear strengths and their corresponding ductilities of the tested assembles, showed reasonable agreement
In order to improve the constructability and meanwhile ensure excellent seismic behavior, several innovative composite connection details were conceived and studied by the authors. This paper reports experimental results and observations on seismic behavior of steel beam bolted to reinforced concrete column connections (bolted RCS or BRCS). The proposed composite connection details involve post tensioning the end plates of the steel beams to the reinforced concrete or precast concrete columns using high-strength steel rods. A rational design procedure was proposed to assure a ductile behavior of the composite structure. Strut-and-tie model analysis indicates that a bolted composite connection has a favorable stress transfer mechanism. The excellent capacity and behavior were then validated through five full-scale beam to column connection model tests.

The purpose of this paper is to study the effect of longitudinal reinforcement for anchoring in the wide beam column joint as wall as the contribution of depth of spandrel beam to hysteretic behavior of the wide beam column joint. From the test it was shown that the specimen with anchorage in the joint had higher strength than the specimen with normal hook anchorage. Specimen with debonded reinforcement at out of Id from column face failed showing moved plastic hinge and less strength than normal specimen. However, the dissipated energy was increased $11\%$.

In this study, a moment resisting precast concrete beam-column connection is proposed. An experimental study was carried out to investigate the connection behavior subjected to cyclic loading. Three precast beam-column interior connections and one monolithic connection were tested. Variable included the detailing used at the joint to achieve structural constructability and the location of mild steel reinforcement and high strength bar. During specimen fabrication, the joint details enables ease and speed of construction. Connection performance is evaluated on the basis of ductility, energy dissipation capacity, connection strength, and drift capacity. Based on test results, the precast concrete beam-column connection is capable of matching or exceeding the performance of the monolithic connection.

Current ACI and AIJ guidelines only address the importance of the concrete strength and geometry of the joint. There are no significant attention paid to other variables. In addition, the current design code doesn't predict the ductility of the beam-column assemblies. The former researcher proposed the analytical model to predict the shear strength of the joint panel as well as the ductility of the beam-column assemblies in year 2004. In this study, the experiments to investigate shear behavior of reinforced concrete beam-column joints and to verify proposed model were carried out, based on the experimental results. As the formal researcher proposed, the factor K (K=0.5), the ductility of BJ-failure was predicted reasonably when the transverse reinforcement ratio exceeded 0.0186. However, the proposed equation showed a large discrepancies in the ductility estimating when transverse reinforcement ratio was below 0.0186.

The objective of this study is to clarify the seismic capacity and the characteristics in the hysteretic behavior of RC structures with non-seismic detailing. Interior and exterior beam-column subassemblages were selected from a ten-story RC building and six 1/3-scale specimens were constructed with three variables; (1) with and without slab, (2) with and without hoop bars in the Joint region, (3) upward and downward direction of anchorage for the bottom bar in beams of exterior beam-column subassemblage. The test results have shown; (1) in case of interior beam-column subassemblage, there is no almost difference between nonseismic and seismic details in the strength and ductility capacity; (2) the Korean practice of anchorage (downward and 25 $d_{b}$ anchorage length) in the exterior Joint caused the 10%~20% reduction of strength and 27% reduction of ductility iii comparison with tile case of seismic details; and the existence of hoop bars in the joint region shows no effect in shear strain.n.
