Malus의 편광법칙을 이용한 EPAS용 비접촉 torque sensor 개발 (Development of the Non-Contact Torque Sensor for EPAS Using Maluss Polarization Law)

  • Among the automotive steering systems, an Electric Power Assisted steering (EPAS) system utilizes an electronically controlled electric motor to provide steering assistance to the driver. The key components of the EPAS system are torque sensor, ECU (Electronic Control Unit), and DC Motor. The most important component of the EPAS is the torque sensor. The conventional torque sensor has complicated mechanical mechanism of torque detection. However, we suggest a non-contact torque sensor for EPAS using Maluss polarization law. It was found that the sensor exhibited not only excellent linearity but also superior characteristics of hysteresis, temperature and vibration.

  • In this paper, new Partial Discharge (PD) detection technique using Pockels-cell was proposed. For this purpose, PD was generated from needle-plane electrode in air and detected by optical measuring system using Pockets cell, based on Mach-Zehnder interferometer, consisting of He-Ne laser, single mode optical fiber, 50/50 beam splitter and photo detector. We show the characteristic of the proto-type sensor for the corona discharge.

발전소 급수계통 부식생성물 농도 측정에 관한 연구 (Study on The Measurement of Corrosion Product Concentration in The Feed Water System of A Power Plant)

  • The iron oxide particles could be resulted from the corrosion of the circulating water system of a power plant. Because it may be one of the trouble materials which affect the power generation efficiency due to the deposition on steam generator tube and turbine blade, the continuous observation of its concentration is very important. The laser induced break-down detection (LIBD) technology was applied to monitor continuously the concentration of corrosion products with the detection limit of ppb level. The measurement system consists of a Nd:YAG pulsed laser, a polarizing beam splitter, a flow-type sample cell, an acoustic emission sensor, a high speed data acquisition board, a personal computer, etc.. The performance test results confirmed that this technology can be effective to monitor the corrosion product concentration of the circulating water system of a power plant.

  • 본 논문에서는 레이저 다이오드, 포토 다이오드, 그레이팅 렌즈, 빔 스프릿터가 반도체 공정으로 직접화된 홀로그램 레이저 다이오드와 4 와이어 부동형 엑츄에이터를 이용하여, 시장성이 풍부한 일반 오디오용 광학 픽업을 설계하였다. 또한, 이러한 홀로그램 레이저 다이오드의 특성을 이용하여 초간편 광학계를 구현하므로서, 기존외 제품 대비 조립성과 생산성을 향상시키고, 취부 부품의 수를 줄이고 형상을 단순화하였다.

  • This work presents the analysis of $1\times2$ polymer waveguide thermo-optic switch using asymmetric Y-splitter at the wavelength of 1300nm. Because of the high thermo-optic coefficient of polymeric materials the design of efficient switches were feasible. For the numerical simulation of these switches the finite difference beam propagation method has been employed. Design rules for a $1\times2$ polymeric switch have been defined by using the numerical techniques.

  • In this paper, a novel optical measuring system for the measurement of nonuniform electric field was proposed. The electric field distorted by the discharges was detected through proposed optical measuring system based on the Pockets effect and Mach-Zehnder interferometer. In order to produce distorted electric field, corona discharge was generated from needle-plane electrode in air and detected by optical measuring system. This optical measuring system is constructed by He-Ne laser, single mode optical fiber, $2{\times}2$ 50/50 beam splitter, $LiNbO_3$ Pockets cell, photo detector and PC. In this system, output signal of Pockels sensor is measured by digital oscilloscope and transferred to the PC for recording and statistical processing. Through this paper, a promising possibilities of proto-type optical measuring system were evinced.

  • By incorporating a polarization-diversity loop configuration (PDLC), we have demonstrated inline conversion between transmission and reflection spectra of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) without reconfiguration of the fiber filter structure. The proposed apparatus consists of a polarization beam splitter, an FBG, and two quarter-wave plates (QWP's). The inline conversion operation between transmission and reflection spectra of the FBG was performed by proper adjustment of QWP's within the proposed filter. The band rejection ratio and side-mode suppression ratio in transmission and reflection modes of the fabricated filter were measured as ~17.0[dB] and ~16.4[dB], respectively.

한 대의 칼라카메라를 이용한 인체 운동량 측정 (Human Motion Measurement with One Color Camera)

  • 본 연구는 한 대의 칼라 카메라와 광학장치를 이용하여 인체의 운동량을 측정하는 시스템에 관한 것이다. 광학을 이용하여 인체의 운동량을 측정하기 위해서는 일반적으로 두 대 이상의 카메라로부터 획득된 영상으로 측정물체에 대한 좌표를 구하는 입체화상법을 사용한다. 제시한 시스템은 서로 다른 색의 칼라필터와 거울을 통과한 두 개의 광경로를 빔스플리터로 중첩시켜서 한 대의 칼라카메라로 영상을 획득하여 분석하는 것으로, 한 대의 칼라카메라가 두 대의 단색 가상카메라 역할을 하는 것이다. 단색 가상카메라는 적색, 녹색과 청색의 세 가지로 본 실험에서는 적색의 밝기가 가장 낮아서 녹색과 청색 가상카메라를 사용하였다. 광학장치를 이용하여 칼라카메라로 획득된 적색, 녹색과 청색별로 8bit인 24bit 디지털영상에서 녹색과 청색 영상은 각각 녹색과 청색의 가상카메라로 획득한 영상이다. 이 영상들을 이진화하여 측정물체를 배경으로부터 분리하고, 이진영상에서 일정한 면적을 지닌 영역의 중심을 측정물체가 영상면에 투영된 좌표로 본다. 녹색과 청색 영상에서 동일한 측정물체에 대한 영상선을 구하고 이들의 교차점을 측정물체의 공간좌표로 하였다. 이 시스템을 이용하여 직립 및 신전자세에서 척추의 형상을 측정하였으며 향후 시스템의 추가적인 개발과 적응분야에 대하여도 살펴보았다.

Stray Light Analysis of High Resolution Camera for a Low-Earth-Orbit Satellite

  • We discuss the effect of stray light on a high-precision camera in an LEO(Low Earth Orbit) satellite. The critical objects and illumination objects were sorted to discover the stray light sources in the optical system. Scatter modeling was applied to determine a noise effect on the surface of a detector, and the relative flux of a signal and noise were also calculated. The stable range of reflectivity of the beam splitter was estimated for various scattering models.

  • Ronchi test is an optical test to check the quality of an imaging system. Wavefront of the optical system can be obtained from the Ronchi patterns. In this poster, we present the Ronchi test module and the optical quality evaluation results. The test module consists of a light source, a pinhole, a beam splitter, a Ronchi ruling and a flat mirror. The test module can be simply adapted to any optical systems. We compare measured surface data for both aluminum and glass parabolic mirrors by analyzing the Ronchi patterns.
