Al-7020의 Pulse-GMA 용접에 관한 연구 1

  • This paper reports on a study of the influence of welding variables on the weld shape of Al-7020 in pulse-GMA welding. Five variables, i.e., wire feed rate, peak pulse current, welding speed, welding votage, and pulse frequency were investigated for their effects on the weld shape. From the results of the 2$^{n-1}$ fractional factorial design, quantitative effects of each variable and the interaction of two variables were obtained, and consequently wire feed rate, welding voltage, and welding speed were determined as the main welding variables. Supplementary experiment was performed for ivestigating the detailed relationship between the main variables nd the seld shape. In this experiment, the penetation of the seldment increased when the wire feed rate was raised, nad the bead width increased when the welding voltage was raised or the welding speed was reduced.d.

저탄소강의 고출력 $CO_2$ 레이저 빔 용접 (High power $CO_2$ laser beam welding for low carbon steels)

  • Laser beam welding parameters have experimentally investigated, using a continuous wave 3kW $CO_2$ laser with the various travel speeds, beam mode and laser beam power in low carbon steels. An optimum position of focus and the effect of shielding gas on penetration depth with varying the flow range of 0.5 to 5.1m/min have been combined to investigate the effect of laser power and travel speed on penetration depth and bead width. It is found that the optimum position of focus in 3kW class laser is 0.5 to 1.5mm below the surface of the material. The flow rate of shielding gas affects the penetration depth and He is more effective than Ar. The penetration depth in laser welds of low carbon steels is between two and four times of the bead width. Laser beam welding of butt joints in 2mm thick carbon steel has been carried out to establish a weldability lobe. The lobe indicating acceptable welding conditions is introduced.

위보기 및 경사상진자세의 TIG용접에서 비드성형기의 물리적 힘에 의한 용융지 제어 (Control of molten pool by physical force of bead former in TIG welding of overhead and inclined-up position)

  • 우수한 용접부 품질 때문에 TIG를 이용한 오비탈 용접은 파이프 용접에 널리 사용되고 있다. 하지만 루트갭이 없고 루트페이스가 큰 맞대기 오비탈 용접의 위보기 및 경사상진자세에서는 오목한 이면비드가 형성되기 쉽지만, 이러한 문제를 극복하기 위한 연구는 희박한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 위보기 및 경사상진자세에서 볼록한 이면비드의 형성을 연구하기위해서 용융지의 제어 방법을 적극적으로 검토하였다. 4mm 두께의 SS400 시편을 위보기 및 경사상진자세에서 각각 Bead-on-plate 용접하고, 이 때 비드성형기의 사용에 따른 비드 형상 변화를 관찰하였다. 텅스텐 전극과 비드 성형기간의 거리(Tip To Former Distance, 이하 TTFD)를 4.5mm에서 7.5mm로 1mm단위로 변경시켜 실험하였으며, TTFD가 증가할수록 위보기 및 경사상진자세에서 이면비드 높이가 감소하였으며 표면비드의 처짐이 증가하였다.

하드페이싱 오버레이용접 비드형상에 미치는 GMA 용접조건의 영향 (Effects of GMA Welding Conditions on the Bead Shape of Hardfacing Overlay Welding)

  • The relationship between GMA welding conditions and the bead shape of overlay weld was studied by using ${\Phi}1.6mm$ hypo-eutectic metal-cored wire designed for hardfacing against the severe metal-to-metal wear. As the welding voltage increased, the dilution also increased but the sudden drop of dilution was observed at $30{\sim}33V$. It was considered to be due to the decrease of penetration resulting from the change of transfer mode, from short circuit to spray. It was also found that the behavior of penetration with welding current was dependant on the transfer mode. The short circuit mode exerted the penetration to decrease while the spray mode did it to increase with increase of welding current. The former was considered to be responsible for the remarkable decrease in dilution at low welding voltage region. The change of transfer mode also had an effect on the behavior of bead width with welding current but it did not on the bead spreadability defined as W/H ratio. It was considered that the optimal welding conditions for multi-pass overlay welding could be obtained from the bead spreadability suitable for bead lapping and the dilution as low as possible in the spray transfer mode.

Effect of Bead Device Diameter on Z-Resolution Measurement in Tomosynthesis Images: A Simulation Study

  • Purpose: To clarify the relationship between the diameter of the simulated bead and the Z-resolution of the tomosynthesis image. Methods: A simulated bead was placed on a 1,024×1,024×1,024-pixel base image. The diameters were set to 0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.7, 1.0, and 1.3 mm. A bead was placed at the center of the base image and projected at a simulated X-ray angle range of ±45° to obtain a projected image. A region of interest was placed at the center of the bead image and the slice sensitivity profile (SSP) was obtained by acquiring pixel values in the z-direction. The full width at half maximum of the SSP was defined as the Z-resolution and the frequency response was obtained by the 1-D Fourier transform of the SSP. Results: Z-resolution increased with increasing bead diameter. However, there was no change in Z-resolution between 0.025 and 0.1 mm. The frequency response was similar to that of the Z-resolution, with a significant difference between 0.1 and 0.2 mm diameter. Conclusions: Z-resolution is dependent on the diameter of the bead, which should be selected considering the pixel size of the tomosynthesis image.

  • Tandem arc welding is a guarantor for high efficiency and cost saving since the quantity of wire which is deposited in the welding is approximated 30% greater that in conventional welding. The welding process is now being successfully applied in many industries. However, in the case of tandem arc welding, good quality and high productivity should depend on the welding parameters. Therefore, an intelligent algorithms for the automatic tandem arc welding process has been necessarily required. In this study, a predictive model based on the neural network by using the data acquired during tandem gas metal arc (GMA) welding process has been developed. To verify the reliability of the developed predictive model, a mutual comparison with the surface of the top-bead width obtained from actual experiments has been analyzed.

적외선 카메라를 이용한 용접비드를 제어하기 위한 알고리즘 개발 (Development of an algorithm for Controlling Welding Bead Using Infrared Thermography)

  • Dynamic monitoring of weld pool formation and seam deviations using infrared vision is described in this paper. Isothermal contours representing heat dissipation characteristics during the process of arc welding were analysed and processed using imaging techniques. Maximum bead width and penetration were recorded and the geometric position in relation to the welding seam was measured at each sampling point. Deviations from the desired bead geometry and welding path were sensed and their thermographic representations were digitised and welding path were sensed and their thermographic representations were digitised and subsequently identified. Evidence suggested that infrared thermography can be utilized to compensate for inaccuracies encountered in real-time during robotic arc welding.

Determination of Optimal Welding Parameter for an Automatic Welding in the Shipbuilding

  • Because the quantitative relationships between welding parameters and welding result are not yet blown, optimal values of welding parameters for $CO_2$ robotic arc welding is a difficult task. Using the various artificial data processing methods may solve this difficulty. This research aims to develop an expert system for $CO_2$ robotic arc welding to recommend the optimal values of welding parameters. This system has three main functions. First is the recommendation of reasonable values of welding parameters. For such work, the relationships in between the welding parameters are investigated by the use of regression analysis and fuzzy system. The second is the estimation of bead shape by a neural network system. In this study the welding current voltage, speed, weaving width, and root gap are considered as the main parameters influencing a bead shape. The neural network system uses the 3-layer back-propagation model and a generalized delta rule as teaming algorithm. The last is the optimization of the parameters for the correction of undesirable weld bead. The causalities of undesirable weld bead are represented in the form of rules. The inference engine derives conclusions from these rules. The conclusions give the corrected values of the welding parameters. This expert system was developed as a PC-based system of which can be used for the automatic or semi-automatic $CO_2$ fillet welding with 1.2, 1.4, and 1.6mm diameter the solid wires or flux-cored wires.

자동차 차체부품 CO2용접설비 전수검사용 비전시스템 개발 (Development of a Vision System for the Complete Inspection of CO2 Welding Equipment of Automotive Body Parts)

  • In the car industry, welding is a fundamental linking technique used for joining components, such as steel, molds, and automobile parts. However, accurate inspection is required to test the reliability of the welding components. In this study, we investigate the detection of weld beads using 2D image processing in an automatic recognition system. The sample image is obtained using a 2D vision camera embedded in a lighting system, from where a portion of the bead is successfully extracted after image processing. In this process, the soot removal algorithm plays an important role in accurate weld bead detection, and adopts adaptive local gamma correction and gray color coordinates. Using this automatic recognition system, geometric parameters of the weld bead, such as its length, width, angle, and defect size can also be defined. Finally, on comparing the obtained data with the industrial standards, we can determine whether the weld bead is at an acceptable level or not.
