Microencapsulation of cells within microfluidic devices enables explicit control of the membrane thickness or cell density, resulting in improved viability of the transplanted cells within an aggressive immune system. In this study, living cells (3T3 and L929 fibroblast cells) are encapsulated within a semi-permeable membrane (calcium crosslinked alginate gel) in two different device designs, a flow focusing and a core-annular flow focusing geometry. These two device designs produce a bead and a long microfibre, respectively. For the alginate bead, an alginate aqueous solution incorporating cells flows through a flow focusing channel and an alginate droplet is formed from the balance of interfacial forces and viscous drag forces resulting from the continuous (oil) phase flowing past the alginate solution. It immediately reacts with an adjacent $CaCl_2$ drop that is extruded into the main flow channel by another flow focusing channel downstream of the site of alginate drop creation. Depending on the flow conditions, monodisperse microbeads of sizes ranging from $50-200\;{\mu}m$ can be produced. In the case of the microfibre, the alginate solution with cells is extruded into a continuous phase of $CaCl_2$ solution. The diameter of alginate fibres produced via this technique can be tightly controlled by changing both flow rates. Cell viability in both forms of alginate encapsulant was confirmed by a LIVE/DEAD cell assay for periods of up to 24 hours post encapsulation.

As the quality of a weld joint is strongly influenced by process parameters the welding process, an intelligent algorithms that can predict the bead geometry and shape to accomplish the desired mechanical properties of the weldment should be developed. In this study, prepared by ${\Phi}1.6mm$ GMA welding of metal wire nose Advice jowelui 350A 600A grade level inverter welder and DAIHEN SCR's were carried out using welding. Welding conditions were 5.5m/min wire feed rate the welding current is rapidly transmit approximately 260A, welding voltage was about 30V. CTWD a 22mm, shielding gas was Ar 20L/min and the welding speed was a 240mm/min. Using data collected during welding equipment welding current and welding voltage waveform was analyzed by measuring the volume of the transition mode. Addition of $CaCO_3$ as a loss of the spread of the weld bead dilution rate decreased, suggesting that, GMA in the overlay welding bead shape control, dilution control and may be used as a welding flux is considered. Stabilizing effect of the arc by the Ca-containing $CaF_2$, $CaCO_3$, $CaMg(CO_3)_2$, respectively, welding flux 0.1wt.% added GMA welding and weld overlay were evaluated with dilution, $CaF_2$, and $CaMg(CO_3)_2$ added to the dilution of Seemed to increase.
This study is to compare the weldability of Zircaloy-4 end cap of nuclear fuel pin using by GTA and Nd :YAG LB. The welding parameters which affect bead width and penetration depth have been investigated. The effect of joint geometry of end cap for GTAW and LBW has been studied and optimum conditions of Zircaloy-4 endcap welding have been found. Microstructures and microhardness of GTA and LB welded zones have been also compared.
This paper presents a vision based autonomous inspection system for welding quality control of car sinking seat. In order to overcome the precision error that arises from a visible inspection by operator in the manufacturing process of a car sinking seat, this paper proposes the MVWQC (machine vision based welding quality control) system. This system consists of the CMOS camera and NI machine vision system. The image processing software for the system has been developed using the NI vision builder system. The geometry of welding bead, which is the welding quality criteria, is measured by using the captured image with median filter applied on it. Experiments have been performed to verify the proposed MVWQC of car sinking seat.
Design modification of the stamping die for the upper member of a front end module carrier is carried out in order to improve the surface quality of the final product. The small inferiority induced by wrinkling near the wall of the upper member has been inspected after the draw-forming process. The finite element analysis is pursued with the whole geometry in order to consider the complicated shape. The simulation shows that the excess metal is developed by the irregular contact of the blank the tool and it remains after the final stroke. This paper proposes two guidelines for the modification. One is to add the draw-bead near the critical region in order to increase the draw-in force. The other is to modify the tool shape such as the forming shape at the wall in order to absorb the excess metal before the final stroke. Simulation results show that the proposed guidelines both guarantee the improved surface quality.

This paper presents a stereo vision based autonomous inspection system for welding quality control of a RV(Recreational Vehicle) sinking seat. The three dimensional geometry of the welding bead, which is the welding quality criteria, is measured by using the captured stereo images with a median filter applied on it. The image processing software for the system was developed using the NI LabVTEW software with NI vision system. In the manufacturing process of a RV sinking seat, the developed system can be used for overcoming the precision error that arises from a visible inspection by an operator. The welding quality inspection system for RV sinking seat was verified using experimentation.

Because UV wavelength lights can activate photocatalysts, plasma is used as a light source of a photocatalytic reactor. Even though plasma has good intensity for photo reaction, substrate of catalyst coating was limited by the geometry of plasma generator. Usually bead type substrate was used for a pack bed type reactor. Honeycomb monolith type substrate was used with UV lamps instead plasma, due to the light penetration the honeycomb monolith length was too short to show good activity In this study a photocatalytic reactor, which is using a honeycomb monolith substrate, was investigated with plasma as an activation light source. As a parametric study the effects of 1311owing factors on plasma generation and power consumption are examined; supply voltage, substrate length, environment condition, catalyst loading and ratio. Using the test results, the practicability test was done with simulated synthetic gases representing bad smells and automotive exhaust gases.

Recently, Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) sheet metal has been widely used to improve lightweight structures in the automobile industry. Because UHSS sheets have high strength but low elongation, it is difficult to control winkle and thinning for complex shaped products. The draw beads on die surface were introduced in this study to reduce wrinkle and thinning. The positions and strength values of draw beads were selected as design variables and optimized using finite element analysis. The beads positions and strength of a mold for B-pillar part were designed with the proposed optimization method. The accuracy of die design from optimization was verified by comparing with the results from 3-D scanned geometry.

This study suggested the practical method which can reduce the lead time of the field trial and design of the dies. The virtual manufacturing, with the die design is evaluated by computer analysis, reveals the impropriety of a design before making dies. Three methods for reducing the die making process occupying over 60% of the automotive development are like fellows : First, the crack virtually adjusting the blank holding force and draw bead force with a computer simulation. Second, the parts which can not remove the forming defects in spite of the adjustment of forming process parameters need to modify the part geometry or punch temporary shape. Third, the simulation before trial, field trial, and field trial simulation can be used effectively in the die design.
