The aim of this study is to provide the basic data for clothing construction of pre-school children by the result of the analyses and classifications of children's upper body somatotypes. The objects of this study are the bodies of 220 male pre-school children from 3 to 6 years old. The method of anthropometric measurement is the direct and photographic measurement. After analysing the measurements, 7 factors were extracted and the factors were applied to the cluster analysis. As the results, the 4 types were classified. Type 1 was characterized by the shortest and normal body one among these four types. This type showed the forward-curved back, the projected abdomen, and the fallen shoulders. Type 2 was characterized by the normal height and the fattest body type. Type 3 was characterized by the slimmest body and the shorter height type. Type 4 was characterized by the tallest and normal body with the rising shoulders.
The sectioned-body morphometric characteristics of the diploid and triploid marine medaka, Oryzias dancena, of both sexes were examined to collect basic data on the significant differences between the diploid and triploid fish. Significant differences between the diploid and triploid fish in both sexes were observed in the body circumference anterior to the base of the pelvic fin, the body circumference anterior to the base of the anal fin, the body circumference anterior to the base of the dorsal fin, the area anterior to the base of the pelvic fin, the area anterior to the base of the anal fin, the area anterior to the base of the dorsal fin, the total height anterior to the base of the pelvic fin, the total height anterior to the base of the anal fin, the height anterior to the base of the pelvic fin, the height anterior to the base of the anal fin, the width anterior to the base of the anal fin, the belly thickness II anterior to the base of the anal fin, section shape 2-1, and section shape 4-1 (p<0.05). These measurements were greater in the triploid marine medaka of both sexes than those in the diploid marine medaka of both sexes, and they were also greater in the male diploid and triploid marine medaka than those in the corresponding female fish. Therefore, the sectioned-body morphometric dimensions were greater in the triploid males than those in the triploid females and the diploid fish in this study.
Due to rapid economic growth and accelerated urbanization, numerous cities in China have been turning into huge consumption markets almost simultaneously, and thus, the Chinese apparel markets being globalized are most vigorous in the world, attracting attention from the world apparel industries. If the Korean apparel businesses should develop the products befitting the conditions of the Chinese apparel markets and reflecting her consumers' fashion trends and needs, their apparels would be satisfactory enough to Chinese consumers, being competitive in the Chinese markets. In this sense, today's Chinese apparel markets may well provide the Korean apparel businesses with both crisis and opportunity. As one of the methods to enhance Chinese consumers' satisfaction with the Korean apparels, the Korean apparel businesses should consider seriously about the apparel fitting or a factor determining apparel silhouettes and sense of wearing. Since Chinese consumers differ widely in terms of body types and measurements depending on regions due to the vast territory, differentiation of the apparel fitting is more important than any other single factor, and thus, correct information about apparel fitting may well be directly related with manufacturing of excellent apparels. The purpose of this study is to comparatively analyze the upper body measurements and types of the Chinese and Korean women in their 20's to provide the Korean apparel business engaged in Chinese markets with some basic data about apparel fitting conducive to their development of effective apparel commodities. For this purpose, Chinese women in their 20's living in China's two major cities leading China's women's apparel markets were sampled.
The functional problems of the basic pattern of clothing are a matter of the first importance to clothing construction. Therefore, the ergonomic analysis of the expansion and contraction of the upper body surface, due to motion, has become required. thus in order to obtain the measurements and rate of expansion and contraction of the upper body surface following from its motions, the development figure of " Shell" and somatometry were employed. The results obtained through the investigation can be summarized as follows : 1) According to the developmental figures of "Shell" the latitudes centering around the shoulder line present contractive tendencies by arm movement. The longitudes around the center back waist length are expansive tendencies when bent forward. In the case of a 15$^{\circ}$ lean backward posture, the longitudes around the center front waist length are expansive tendencies. 2) By somatometry, the region from the scapula to the axilla point the upper back with presents the greatest expansion (more than 30%). The region from scapla to arm presents the maximum rate of contraction. In considering the longitude , under the axilla waist length and the bust point waist length generally shows the greatest rate of expansion. 3) The bust point waist length and under the axilla waist length are of great importance to the basic pattern of clothing. and have expansive tendencies(6.3cm). Among the latitudes, the upper back width has the greatest tendency for expansion (7.83 cm). 4) The region which presents the greatest rate of the expansion and contraction is in the proximity of the arm. These results testify that the amount of room of the back width must be given consideration in constructing the basic pattern of clothing.pattern of clothing.
Anthropometric data is most basic materials in the all studies related with it. Therefore, in anthropometric data, not only consideration of the state of variance, but more various analysis is needed. This study selected the 13 parts that properly show a whole characteristics of human body and, anthropometric data were obtained through the actual measurements for male and female workers who were engaged in production factory. And, to interpret anthropometric data, principal component analysis of multivariate analysis methods was applied.
As men in their 30s are spending more money on clothing, it is becoming increasingly important to first conduct an anthropometric study and then develop garment patterns accommodating the changes found in body sizes and types of men in their 30s, in order to effectively address their fit dissatisfaction. Thus this study aims to explore changes in upper body sizes and body types of men in their 30s, which provide basic measurements for designing major garment items including jackets and shirts. To this purpose, key anthropometric dimensions of the upper body of men in their 30s, taken from the 6th (2015) and 7th (2016) surveys conducted by Size Korea, were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 for Windows. Independent sample t-tests were conducted on major upper body sizes to track changes with measuring time. Factor and cluster analyses were used to classify body types. By comparing the two surveys, it was found that the overall body sizes of men in their 30s were increasing in height-related items, circumference, thickness, and width, -as well as body weight and BMIs. Upper body height-related items, in particular, showed a higher average value in the 6th survey than in the 7th, indicating that the overall body types of men are becoming "westernized" with longer legs and shorter torso. Finally, five factors were derived to determine the typical upper body types of men in their 30s and the body types were classified into three categories according to the cluster analysis. First, those with a relatively small build with short stature and torso. Second, those with the highest stature and vertical dimension with the smallest torso volume and least body fatness. Third, those with the biggest torso volume and most body fatness with bigger width between armpits and shoulders. The distributional pattern analysis showed that men in their 30s tend to have increasingly higher stature but lower body weight and BMIs than in the past, implying that their body types are becoming close to those of men in their 20s.
The purpose of this study is to suggest a individually fitted slacks pattern in order to help ourselves prepared for the days of the order-based production like the EC in the apparel industry. A pattern was designed to make the personal fit improved based on the present study and the analysis of the measurements and the body shapes. The main characteristics of this newly designed slacks pattern are as follows. To improve fitting, the pattern requires more detailed data such as front and back waist arc, front and back hip arc, hip depth, the gradient of hip. And for personal fitted pattern, knee girth was established in the proportion to the hip girth and the crotch curve was adjusted to the measurements after drawing and the side seam curve was changed according to the front hip type and the ease in waist and hip was established by the percentage. Slacks pattern was developed into an automatic drafting program. Through the sensory evaluation for the appearance and moving fitness, newly designed slacks pattern was turned out to be improved in personal fit espacially for the body type out of the average.
This study was conducted to investigate on the standardization of wheel chair for Korean in the twenties college students. Study population included 200 students in Andong junior college from September 25, 1996 to October 16, 1996. Basic measurements for wheel chair production were carried out A(from behind calf to rear of buttocks), B(from the popliteal fossa to the bottom of the heel), C(from the bottom of the elbow to the seating surface), D(from the seating surface from to midseapula), E(across the hip at widest point). The results are as follows. There was a statistical significance between male and female body dimension measurements in the A(p=0.0018), B(p=0.0001), E(p=0.0001), the other side not significance of C(p=0.1193), D(p=0.8467). The standard dimension of wheel chair included seat depth 40.6 cm, seat height 48.1 cm, arm height 25.8 cm, back height 35.7 cm, seat width 39.6 cm in the twenties male college students and in female case included seat depth 39.3 cm, seat height 45.2 cm, arm height 26.5 cm, back height 35.8 cm, seat width 41.2 cm.
This investigates the type of pants preferred by Korean men in their 20s through a subjective wear test. Six types of men's pants were developed as experimental garments. The male subjects were university students between the ages of 20 and 24. Subjective wear sensations of the experimental pants were rated using seven Likert scales. A 7-point Likert-type scale was used for the evaluation, with 7 indicating the best fit. As a result, a basic men's sloper for lower body clothing was developed based on SizeKorea 2004 anthropometric measurements surveyed between 2003 and 2004. A basic pattern (A) was manipulated to tight-fit pants (E) and loose-fit pants (D, L, M, and N) by considering the ease at hip level and the style. Among the six pants, pants D and L (4cm ease at hip level) were found to be superior to others in terms of comfort, fitting, and crotch depth. With regard to ease and comfort of the crotch part, pants E and A (0cm ease at hip level) were found to be the least preferred.
It is important to conduct an anthropometric study to develop garment patterns to accommodate the changes found in the body size and type of men in their 30s, to effectively address fit dissatisfaction. Thus, this study aims to explore changes in the lower body sizes and body types of men in their 30s, and provide basic measurements for designing pants patterns. For this purpose, key anthropometric dimensions for the lower body of men in their 30s, which were acquired by the 6th (2010) and 7th (2015) survey conducted by Size Korea, were analyzed using SPSS 24.0 for Windows. Independent sample t-tests were conducted on major lower body sizes to track changes over time. Factor and cluster analyses were used to classify lower body types. From the comparison of the 6th (2010) and 7th (2015) surveys, it was found that the overall lower body size of men in their 30s were increasing in the height-related aspects, circumference, thickness, and width-as well as body weight and BMI. The five factors were derived to determine the typical lower body types of men in their 30s and the body types were classified into three categories through cluster analysis: (1) those with the largest body size, body volume, and obesity, (2) those with smallest body size, lower body volume, and obesity degree, visually the most skinny type, (3) those with BMI and weight that are the smallest, like Type 2, but the main circumference of the lower body is lower. In order to visually look at the statistical analysis, results were presented by producing a avatar based on the main lower body values.
