  • The object of this article is to assess the factors affecting the behavioral intention of young retail customers to use digital banking services in Vietnam. In this article, multivariate data analysis techniques including Cronbach's Alpha, Exploratory factor analysis (EFA), Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), Structure equation model (SEM), and Bootstrapping are used to analyze the data collected from 525 young respondents under the age of 35 who are using or having opportunities to experience digital banking services. The people taking part in the survey were mainly University students with incomes of most of them under VND 5 million. The result from the analysis illustrates that (1) perceived ease of use positively affects intention to use, (2) social influence positively impacts intention to use, and (3) customer support has a positive impact on the intention of young people to use digital banking services. While technology self-efficacy, convenience, and perceived security were found to have an impact on intention to use services in former studies, the influences of these factors on intention to use digital banking services are found insignificant in this research. From these results, the author provides implications for commercial banks to increase the intention to use digital banking of young people in Vietnam.

  • The main purpose of this study is to analyze the adoption and use of mobile banking by university students and its potential determining factors. This study comprises 259 completed questionnaires answered through an online survey method. The respondents are Mongolian university students who have experience in using mobile banking applications. Young adults rely heavily on technology and are more likely to adopt mobile banking applications; however, there is limited research on the acceptance and use of mobile banking applications among this cohort, particularly from the perspective of Central Asian developing economies. Through using the SmartPLS 3.3 software, confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to evaluate the construct and structural equation modeling. The main results indicate that performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions are the main constructs related to mobile banking technology acceptance; perceived security positively impacts perceived trust. Moreover, perceived trust is the construct of the use of mobile banking technology by the university students who responded to the questionnaire. However, the relationship between perceived risk and use behavior was not accepted.

  • Purpose: Although foreign capital flows have played a vital role in fostering the economic growth in recipient countries, there are some concerns about the adverse impact of international capital flows on the banking stability. Hence, the study revisits this issue to explore the relationship between the different types of foreign investments and banking stability in ASEAN region. Research design, data and methodology: Based on the bank-level data of 96 commercial banks and country-level in six ASEAN countries from 2008 to 2019, we perform the multivariate regression analysis and provide a variety of robustness tests. Results: Our empirical evidence shows the volatility of foreign portfolio investments has significantly negative effect on the banking stability, besides that of foreign other investments has the similar influence but the result is relatively less pronounced in some robustness tests. Additionally, increasing trade cooperation and international distribution may lead countries to face higher risk of banking instability driven from these international investments. Meanwhile, the impact of foreign direct investments is positive, but the evidence is the least obvious. Conclusions: Our findings suggest policy-makers in ASEAN and emerging nations as a whole should carefully consider when building policies-related to mitigate the adverse impact of foreign capital flows.

Enterprises play an important role in the development of every country but it is also one of the most affected sectors during the pandemic. Drawing on panel data of 131 enterprises listed on the Vietnamese stock exchange from 2016Q1 to 2021Q3, this study aims to investigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on firm performance. Enterprises are classified into seven industries including Agriculture, Material, Industry, Real estate and Construction, Energy, Consumer, and Service. The paper also analyzes the variation of the effects among companies, focusing on differences in revenue and capital structure. The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affects business performance. In addition, the empirical findings indicate that revenue and debt decreasing can cause deterioration of firm performance during the pandemic period. The decrease in revenue has a direct impact on firm profitability. The reduction of debt levels affects the corporate leverage leading to adverse effects on firm performance. The negative effect is more pronounced for companies in some specific sectors including industry, real estate, construction, consumption, and services.

  • The paper analyzes the effects of the emergence of Fintech on the banking and savings banking industries in Korea. From the analysis, we find that net interest margin decreases and credit supply increases with the advent of Fintech in the banking industry. Similarly, in the savings banking industry, a profitability index decreases. This is interpreted as the result of reduced monopoly power and increased efficiency in the industries, inducing an increase in overall consumer benefits. Individual financial institutions may, however, experience difficulties such as reduced profitability and increased Fintech investment costs.

  • Although mobile banking provides cost-saving opportunities as well as convenient banking experience for customers, today's banks still face challenges when deploying the technology because a good number of customers are reluctant to use mobile banking for personal reasons. This paper is an empirical investigation of the determinants of the intention to use smartphone-based mobile banking services. The determinants are grouped into two categories including personal factors and social influence factors. We conducted an empirical analysis using 751 survey responses collected from present users of mobile banking services. The results of the analysis reveal that all the personal factors have positive relationships with the intention to use mobile banking services. On the other hand, it was found that of the social influence factors, perceived herding behavior has significantly positive relationship with the intention to use smartphone-based services, whereas subjective norm is not significantly related to the intention. We provide practical as well as academic implications of the research findings.

  • The EU, the United Kingdom and South Korea are actively pursuing open banking to open financial information to fintech companies for financial structure reform and convenience of financial consumers. As open banking is gradually activated, the importance of stability and protecting users of open banking will increase. In particular, Korea has an electronic financial transaction law that has been in effect since 2007 to secure the stability and reliability of electronic financial transactions, but it is difficult to apply to participating organizations in open banking, so there is a risk of preventing security accidents and weakening user protection in open banking. Therefore, this paper examines the foreign legal system of open banking and analyzes the structure and characteristics of domestic open banking and suggests the ways to improve regulations necessary to strengthen open banking stability and user protection.

For survival of internet banking high quality of service should be provided to customers. For this, the attributes of service quality in internet banking should be identified first. The studies on scale of service quality in internet banking have been divided into two ways. While traditional way has focused on SERVQUAL, several researchers have developed scale of e-service quality. However, the dimension of e-service quality is applied from the traditional dimension of service quality. In this paper five dimensions of tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy based on SERVQUAL are used as scale of service quality in internet banking through reviewing previous studies. In addition, because service value is correlated to service quality, the dimensions of service quality can affect e-service value. The results of this study show that the responsiveness, assurance, and empathy factors of service quality have a positive effect on service value and that the tangible and assurance factors have a positive effect on customer satisfaction. It also shows that e-service value affects positively customer satisfaction and loyalty. Customer satisfaction affects positively customer loyalty.
