음성 및 데이터 서비스를 지원하는 CDMA/TDD 시스템을 위한 실시간 통합 타임슬롯 및 코드 할당 체계 (Real-time Integrated Timeslot and Code Allocation Scheme for the CDMA/TDD System Supporting Voice and Data Services)

  • CDMA/TOD with asymmetric capacity allocation between uplink and downlink is a highly attractive solution to support the next generation mobile systems. This is because flexible asymmetric allocation of capacity to uplink and downlink usually improves the utilization of the limited bandwidth. In this paper, we mathematically formulate an optimal timeslot and code allocation problem, which is to maximize the total utility considering the numbers of codes(channels) allocated to each data class and the forced terminations of previously allocated codes. We also suggest a real-time integrated timeslot and code allocation scheme using Lagrangean relaxation and subgradient optimization techniques. Experimental results show that the proposed scheme provides high-quality solutions in a fast time.

무선 ATM 망에서 실시간 가변성 서비스를 위한 동적 슬롯 할당 알고리즘의 개선 (Improvement of Dynamic Slot allocation algorithm for wireless ATM networks)

  • 본 연구는 무선 ATM 망에서 실시간 가변성 서비스를 위한 동적 슬롯 할당 알고리즘의 개선에 대한 것이다. 일반적인 슬롯할당 알고리즘은 단말기에서 요구하는 서비스를 몇 개의 형태로 나누고 거기에 따른 평균대역폭을 기준으로 슬롯을 할당하는 방식을 사용하였다. 따라서 실시간 가변성 서비스의 경우 단말기에서 요구하는 서비스의 대역폭의 범위가 광범위함에도 불구하고 이러한 방식을 사용함으로써 슬롯의 낭비가 발생하게 되었다. 본 연구에서는 슬롯할당 알고리즘의 단점을 개선하기 위하여 한계셀 수를 설정하여 슬롯할당을 가변적으로 함으로 서비스 품질을 향상시키고, 단말기에서 요구하는 서비스의 종류를 기지국에서 분석하여 기지국이 설정한 단계별로 가장 근접한 대역폭을 중심으로 슬롯을 할당하여 셀 손실률을 최소화하였다. 설계된 프로토콜은 실시간-가변성 서비스 품질에 대해 채널 이용률, 셀 손실률, 지연시간의 항목으로 구분하여 성능평가를 하였다. 성능 평가의 결과 기존의 정적인 슬롯 할당 알고리즘에 비해 우수한 효과를 얻게 되었다.

  • Cloud radio access networks (C-RANs) have been regarded in recent times as a promising concept in future 5G technologies where all DSP processors are moved into a central base band unit (BBU) pool in the cloud, and distributed remote radio heads (RRHs) compress and forward received radio signals from mobile users to the BBUs through radio links. In such dynamic environment, automatic decision-making approaches, such as artificial intelligence based deep reinforcement learning (DRL), become imperative in designing new solutions. In this paper, we propose a generic framework of autonomous cell activation and customized physical resource allocation schemes for energy consumption and QoS optimization in wireless networks. We formulate the problem as fractional power control with bandwidth adaptation and full power control and bandwidth allocation models and set up a Q-learning model to satisfy the QoS requirements of users and to achieve low energy consumption with the minimum number of active RRHs under varying traffic demand and network densities. Extensive simulations are conducted to show the effectiveness of our proposed solution compared to existing schemes.

Proportional Fair Scheduling Algorithm in OFDMA-Based Wireless Systems with QoS Constraints

  • In this work we consider the problem of downlink resource allocation for proportional fairness of long term received rates of data users and quality of service for real time sessions in an OFDMA-based wireless system. The base station allocates available power and subchannels to individual users based on long term average received rates, quality of service (QoS) based rate constraints and channel conditions. We formulate and solve a joint bandwidth and power optimization problem, solving which provides a performance improvement with respect to existing resource allocation algorithms. We propose schemes for flat as well as frequency selective fading cases. Numerical evaluation results show that the proposed method provides better QoS to voice and video sessions while providing more and fair rates to data users in comparison with existing schemes.

  • 본 논문은 이중 IEEE 802.11 무선 근거리 통신망 상에서의 경성 실시간 통신을 위한 메시지 스케줄링 기법과 이에 따르는 대역폭 할당 기법을 제안하고 그 성능을 분석한다. 동일한 주기를 갖는 각 네트워크에서 슈퍼프레임이 서로 반주기의 편차를 갖고 진행되도록 함으로써 최대 대기시간을 반으로 감소시키고 비콘 지연 현상이 실시간 트래픽 스케줄링에 주는 영향을 최소화한다. 비콘 지연 현상의 영향이 오프라인시에 형식화되고 고려되어 라운드로빈 방식을 기반으로 PCF 구간의 폴링 스케줄을 결정한다. ns-2에의해 수행된 모의실험은 제안된 방식이 실험을 위해 생성된 메시지 집합에 있어서 동일한 대역폭과 MAC 방식을 갖는 이중 근거리 통신망에 비하여 실시간 메시지의 스케줄가능성을 $36\%$ 향상시킬 수 있으며 비실시간 메시지들에게는 $9\%$의 대역폭을 더 할당할 수 있음을 보인다.

  • The network throughput is an important performance criteria for the packet ring networks. Since maximizing the network throughput can lead to severe bias in bandwidth allocation among all flows, fairness should be imposed to prevent bandwidth starvation. The challenge here, therefore, is the joint optimization of the network throughput and fairness. In this paper, we present the optimal bandwidth assignment scheme to decompose this optimization problem into two tasks, one for finding fair bandwidth assignment and the other for finding the optimal routing. The network throughput is maximized under the fairness constraints when these tasks are performed iteratively.

  • An adaptive subcarrier allocation scheme based on comparative superiority of opportunity cost between groups is proposed for the enhancement of system capacity and its simple implementation at the base station of a multiuser OFDM system. The proposed algorithm is similar to the blockwise or the decentralized subcarrier allocation algorithm proposed by Xiaowen et al and Alen et al, respectively. In the proposed algorithm, however, all subcarriers are grouped according to the coherence bandwidth and the comparative superiority concept, which swaps the groups between users if the system capacity is increased, is adopted for the enhancement of system capacity. In addition, the proposed algorithm provides a simple solution for the conflict problem among users by reallocating only the conflicted groups and unassigned groups instead of reallocating entire groups. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm increases the system capacity effectively over a static, an adaptive blockwise, and a decentralized subcarrier allocation algorithms.

  • The mobile and multimedia service on wireless network have been leaded from the improvement of telecommunication techniques. A typical multimedia service, a video transmission usually requires larger bandwidth than voice transmission. Many channel allocation algorithms for Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (OFBMA) to use resources more efficiently, Previous channel allocation algorithms have developed with an assumption that the data traffic is constant bit rate (CBR). However, existing algorithms are not suitable to video traffic because it usually generates a variable bit rate (VBR) traffic. In this paper, we proposed a new channel allocation algorithm called a queue-based channel allocation. it is more suitable to transmit the video traffics. Also, a problem are notified in case of realtime generated video traffic and a corresponding heuristic solution was proposed.

  • In the evaluation of Broadband-ISDN, the main issue is to interconnect existing LANs and MANs to B-ISDN based on Asynchrous Transfer Mode. However, LANs provide connectionless services, whereas the ATM network provides connection-oriented services. So some problem arises from accessing ATM switchs to transparently transmit connectionless data via B-ISDN. Two methods then were recommended by ITU-TS to support the connectionaless services. In the paper, we do the numerical analysis, using the stochastic fluid flow method, of dynamic bandwidth allocation sheme with two class traffics in the virtual path established between Interworking Units(JWUS) interconnecting LANs to an ATM network and Connectionless Servers(CLSs). The loss mechanism of each traffic is controlled by the contents of buffer. The vandwidth which the IWU requests the CLS is estimated by the number of On-Off sources in the On state. We use the stochsastic fluide flow method which is to find the steady-state joint probability in each level of the IWU buffer. The length of the IWU buffer as the real random variable is changed by traffics entering the IWU.

An Analysis of the Delay and Jitter Performance of DBA Schemes for Differentiated Services in EPONs

  • An Ethernet passive optical network (EPON) is a low-cost, high-speed solution to the bottleneck problem of a broadband access network. This paper analyzes the delay and the jitter performance of dynamic bandwidth allocation (DBA) schemes for differentiated services in EPONs. Especially, the average packet delay and the delay jitter of the expedited forwarding (EF) traffic class are compared, with consideration as to whether a cyclic or an interleaved polling scheme is superior. This performance evaluation reveals that the cyclic polling based DBA scheme provides constant and predictable average packet delay and improved jitter performance for the EF traffic class without the influence of load variations.
