Effects of Ball-Milling Time on Formation and Magnetic Properties of Ba-Ferrite (Ba-Ferrite의 생성 및 자기적 성질에 미치는 분쇄시간의 영향)

  • The effects of ball-milling time on solid state reactions in the system $BaCO_3-Fe_2O_3$ and the magnetic properties of Ba-ferrite 4(BaFe_{12}O_{19})$ have been studied. $BaCO_3-Fe_2O_3 $mixtures were prepared by ball-milling for varying lengths of time; 5, 15, 30, 80 and 200 hours. Techniques employed were thermogravimetry, X-ray diffraction analysis, scanning electron microscopy and B-H curve tracer. It is shown that the aggregation states and superparamagnetic size fractions obtained by increasing ball-milling time have remarkable effects on solid state reactions and magnetic properties of Ba-ferrite.

  • Package reliability test was conducted to investigate the effect of solder paste composition at BGA Package. It was found that the shape and size of the phase form are affected by the processing parameters. The material have used to fill in the via was Sn/36Pb/2Ag and Sn/0.75Cu type solder paste. Sn/36Pb/2Ag and Sn/0.75Cu paste were fabricated on Tape-BGA substrates by screen printing process, and via ball mount data were characterized with variations of dwell time of 85 seconds at reflow peak temperature at 22$0^{\circ}C$ or 24$0^{\circ}C$. The test condition was MRT 30 $^{\circ}C$/60 %RH/96 HR. Failures formed of a ball-off in solder paste process were observed by using a Optical Microscope and SEM(Scanning Electron Microscope). It was concluded that intermetallic layer growth played important roles in increasing solder fatigue strength for addition of Ag composition. The degradation of shear strength of solder composition is discussed.

  • The influence of powder size and ball-milling time on the magnetic properties of $Fe_{73}Si_{16}B_7Nb_3Cu_1$ nanocrystalline alloy powder was investigated. Flake-shaped powders were produced by pulverizing the ribbons annealed at $550^\circC$ for 1 hour. The powders were classified and consolidated into core shapes at a pressure of 18ton/$cm^2$. The initial permeability at 100kHz of the inductor core produced using $53-75\mum$ powders showed the highest value although its consolidated density showed the lowest one. The reason for the result is due to the cracking of the particles larger than $75\mum$ during the consolidation process. The ball-milling of powders for 2-4 hours improved the consolidation density and the initial permeability of the cores. The intrinsic coercivity of the powder decreased as well, resulting from the stress relief of the powder by a short-time milling.

  • The dielectric properties and synthesis of $LaAIO_3$ ceramics from mixtures of $La_2O_3$ and $AI(OH)_3$ via ground(planetary ball mill) and unground(wet ball mill) were investigated. The single phase $LaAIO_3$ of ground powder was formed at $1000^{\circ}C$, while that of unground powder was formed at $1300^{\circ}C$. Density and grains of ground sample showed 98% of theory density and a uniform size of 0.75\mu\textrm{m}$, respectively, However those of unground sample showed 93% and non-uniform sizes of 4-5 $\mu\textrm{m}$. Dielectric constant and temperature coefficient of capacitance ($\tau$c) of both ground and unground samples were 21~22 and +70~74 ppm$/^{\circ}C$, respectively. Dielectric loss of ground sample(0.0004) was 10 times as low as that of unground sample(0.003) due to a uniform and small gram size.

  • An effective process was employed for synthesizing anisotropic magnetic $SmCo_7$-type alloy flakes with high coercivity, which is highly desirable for many applications. The highest coercivity of 16.3 kOe corresponds to a typical flake thickness of 200 nm for the 3-h ball-milled sample. The anisotropy field was calculated by measuring the parallel and perpendicular directions to the easy magnetization direction of the powders. The anisotropy field decreased with the increase of the ball milling time, thus indicating that the decrease of coercivity was mainly caused by the reduction of the anisotropy field. Microstructure analysis indicated that the morphology, grain size, and anisotropy field of these samples have a great influence on the magnetic properties.

  • The damage mechanism of $Cr_2O_3$ plasma coated soda-lime glass and uncoated glass by steel ball particle impact was analyzed in this study. And the shape variation of the cracks was investigated by stereo-microscope according to the impact velocity and steel ball diameter. In order to improve the damage reduction effect by $Cr_2O_3$ coating layer, crack size was measured and surface erosion state was observed for both of two kinds of specimen after impact experiment. And the results were compared with each other. The 4-point bending test was performed according to ASTM D790 testing method to evaluate the effect of coating layer for bending strength variation. As a result, it was found that the crack size of $Cr_2O_3$ coated specimen was smaller than that of uncoated one, because of the impact absorption by interior pores in the coating layer and the load dispersion by the structural characteristic of the coating layer. For the specimens subjected to the steel ball impact, the bending strength of coated specimen was higher than that of uncoated specimen.

  • In recent, it is said that the trend of LCD is direction to pursue high qualities like as high transmittance, high contrast ratio, wide viewing angle, fast response time, and so on. Especially, it is known that these qualities are essential to large size LCD like as LCD TV and we can realize them through to uniform cell gap and deep black state. Until now, the ball spacer has been used to control of uniform cell gap. However, the existence of ball spacer inside the cell causes the deformation of the liquid crystal molecules and damage to alignment layer. Such a deformation of the liquid crystal causes light-leakage in the dark state, which lowers contrast ratio of the display. Nowadays, this problem has been solved by using Patterned Spacer on Color Filter. but Side Effect just as gravity mura has been induced. In this paper, we studied the mechanism on gravity mura in case of using patterned spacer on color filter.

  • The structural and magnetic properties of nanostructued Fe-20 ;wt.%Si alloy powders were investigated. Commercial Fe-20 wt.%Si alloy powders (Hoeganaes Co., USA) with 99.9% purities were used to fabricate the nanostructure Fe-Si alloy powders through a high-energy ball milling process. The alloy powders were fabricated at 400 rpm for 50 h, resulting in an average grain size of 16 nm. The nanostructured powder was characterized by fcc $Fe_{3}Si$ and hcp $Fe_{5}Si_3$ phases and exhibited a minimum coercivity of approximately 50 Oe.

  • 본 연구에서는 이부프로펜(Ibuprofen)분말을 마이크론(Micron) 크기의 입자로 만들기 위하여 극저온 볼 밀링 공정(Cryogenic Ball Milling Process)을 사용하였다. 극저온 볼 밀링 공정은 약 -18$0^{\circ}C$의 질소 분위기에서 6시간 동안 실행되어 졌다 이부프로펜 분말 형상의 변화는 SEM(Scanning Electronic Microscope)촬영을 통하여 관찰하였으며, 분말의 입자 크기와 분포는 입도 분석기(Particle Size Analysis)를 사용하여 극저온 볼 밀링 공정 전ㆍ후의 변화를 관찰하였다(중략)

  • Recently, the need for ultra-fine particles, especially nano-sized particles has increased in the fields preparing raw powders such as pharmaceutical additive and high value added products in the Nano-Technology processes. Therefore, the research in ultra-fine grinding is very important, especially, in nanometer grinding. In the previous paper, a series of wet grinding experiments using grinding aids using a stirred ball mill have been performed on grinding rate constant based on grinding kinetics. (omitted)
