A Study on the High Speed Characteristics of Plastic Mould Steel using Ball End Mill AlTiN Coated Layers (볼 엔드밀 AlTiN코팅 층수에 따른 플라스틱금형강의 고속가공에 관한 연구)

  • This paper investigated into process characteristics of AlTiN coated layers for machining to the direction of upper and lower in plastic mold material (KP-4) with the cemented carbide ball endmill with the diameter of 8mm coated AlTiN layers (1~4) step by step using machining center. The material used in experiments was KP-4 that was machined by three types of inclined angles; $15^{\circ}$, $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ As estimated mechanical properties of AlTiN coated layers, it was shown the most result in the condition of three layered coating that the coating that the coating depth, the hardness of the coated layer and the surface roughness of the coated layer were $13{\mu}m$, Hv 3027.3 and $0.042{\mu}m$, respectively. The cutting component was better at the condition of upper direction than that of lower direction in all experimental conditions and indicated to be less which the bigger angle of the material was increased the effective diameter of the tool.

Antioxidant, Antimicrobial, and Curing Potentials of Micronized Celery Powders added to Pork Sausages

  • Meat industries utilize plant material such as celery in cured meat products. Extraction of valuable bioactive compounds, nitrates and nitrites often involves processes that increase cost or lack sustainability. Thus, this study investigated the effect of ball-milled celery powders (CP) on the physicochemical, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties along with curing efficiency in comminuted meat product. Pork sausages loaded with CPs with different average particle sizes: 265 ㎛ (T1), 68 ㎛ (T2) and 7 ㎛ (T3) were compared to those added without and with sodium nitrite (150 ppm). The a⁎ values were increased for sausages with larger particle size. The L⁎ values decreased for all CPs. Residual nitrite for all particle sizes increased in the earlier stages and decreased at the end of storage period. The curing efficiency also increased for larger size particles with an increase until day 9 followed by a gradual decrease. Superfine CP had a tendency to improve the antioxidant activities. The antimicrobial activity of CPs was not comparable with nitrite added sausages. The textural parameters remained unaffected by particle size. Thus, instead of extracts or juices, micronized CPs could be used to improve the antioxidant activities and curing efficiency of label friendly reformulated meat products.

Pencil Curve Computation for Clean-up Machining (잔삭 가공을 위한 펜슬커브 생성)

  • This paper presents a procedure to compute pencil curves from a triangular mesh which is offset with the radius of a given ball-end mill. An offset triangular mesh has numerous self-intersections caused by an abundance of invalid triangles, which do not contribute to the valid CL-surface. Conceptually, we can obtain valid pencil curves by combining all intersections tying on the outer skin of the offset triangular mesh, i.e., the valid CL-surface. The underlying concept of the proposed algorithm is that visible intersections are always valid for pencil curves, because visible intersections lie on the outer skin of the offset model. To obtain the visibility of intersections efficiently, the proposed algorithm uses a graphics board, which performs hidden surface removal on up to a million polygons per second.

High speed machining using a NURBS interpolator (NURBS 보간을 이용한 고속 가공)

  • Finish machining of a curved surface is often carried out by an NC system with curved interpolation in a high speed machining strategies. This study aims to develop the NURBS interpolator for the PC-NC based machine tools. In the case of a finish cut using a ball-end mill in high speed machining, low machinability at the bottom of a tool produces a harmful effect on surface roughness. The developed interpolator considers the relation between inclined angle, surface roughness, and feed rate, and adjusts real-time feed rate in order to generate surfaces which have isotropic surface roughness. The proposed interpolator is fully implemented and an experimental results are shown.

A particular curve interpolation algorithm is proposed fur generating feedrate commands which are able to control the roughness of a curved surface. The simulation of the machined surface by the proposed algorithm was carried out, and experimental results are presented.

  • NC machines with 4 or 5 axes are capable of various tool approach motions, which makes interference-free and high machinablity machining possible. This paper deals with how to integrate these two advantages (interference-free and high machinability machining) in multi-axes NC machining with a ball-end mill. Feasible tool approach region at a point on a surface is first computed, then among which an approach direction is determined so as to minimize the cutting force required. Tool and spindle volumes are considered in computing the feasible tool approach region, and the computing time is improved by trans-forming surface patches into minimal enclosing spheres. A cutting force prediction model is used for estimating the cutting force. The algorithm is developed so as to be applied to 4- or 5-axes NC machining in common.

  • In order to suggest the proper cutting conditions of the CNC milling machining for the free-from surface, some experiments were carried out. In experiments, the influence of cutting conditions on the inclined spherical surface were examined by geometrical anlysis. In thos study, the roundness and cutting force were measured to know the effect of several cutting conditions on the machined surface and the cutting characteristics were carefully investigated. As the result, it was appeared that rigidder tool must be used and the cutting speed must be maintained constantlyfor more effective machining. It can be also known from the experiments that the improved machining surface obtained under about 80 degree, but coarse surface obtained over about 80 degree because of the existance of immproper shape of ball-end mill at the extreme portion.

  • 본 논문은 gouging이 있는 free-formed parametric surface 모델로부터 간섭영역을 찾아 공구간섭을 검사하고 이를 제거하여 실시간으로 3축 NC가공을 할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다. 제안되는 방법은 parametri surface로부터 cartesian 경로를 따라 offset surface를 구하고 정의된 가공평면과의 교차곡선을 구하는 것에서 부터 시작한다. 교차곡선으로부터간섭 loop의 형성 여부를 검사함으로써 간섭영역을 찾을 수 있고 간섭을 제거하기 위해 간섭영역내의 모든 CC점이 공구 중심으로 부터 최소한 공구를 벗어나 위치하도록 공구를 공구의 측방향으로 이동시켰다. 이 논문은 free-formed surface의 gouging 부위에서 발생하는 공구간섭을 신속히 제거하고 CL data를 생성하여 실시간으로 3축 NC 가공을 하기 위한 하나의 접근이다.
