Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the influence of aquaplastic mask which is used for the radiotherapy for patients with head and neck cancer on patient positioning by analyzing the results of 2D/2D matching with the use of Exactrac 6D couch system. Materials and Methods: 2D/2D matching-based Image guidance was performed with the use of Exactrac 6D couch system on a total of 14 patients with head and neck cancer who received radiotherapy at this hospital in a period from June 2010 to June 2011. The adjusted 6D values obtained after the image guidance were classified into values related with patients and values not related with patients as to the correlation between the results. Results: In the analysis of the relation of each adjusted value to patients, the coefficient of determination ($R^2$) of longitudinal and pitch direction was 0.76, of longitudinal and yaw direction was 0.48, and of pitch and yaw direction was 0.42 although the coefficient of determination for above factors was 0.03 or less when the dependency of patients was excluded. Conclusion: It was demonstrated that intrinsic factors of aquaplastic mask had influence on the immobilization of patients by aquaplastic mask although various factors related with patients had influence on the immobilization of patients. It is believed that if these factors are adjusted, the treatment of patients with head and neck cancer can be more accurate.
Background and Objectives: Reliable and versatile free flap has become a mainstay in reconstruction of the head and neck. But until now pectoralis major myocutaneous flap (PMMCF) as workhorse is useful and has some advantages such as good viability, one-stage reconstruction and carotid protection. The objective of this study was to review the role and indication of PMMCF in this era of potent free flaps for head and neck reconstruction. Patients and Methods: Sixty one PMMCF and one hundred forty six free flaps used for head and neck reconstruction between 1991 and 2001 were reviewed retrospectively. We compared the applied sites of flap, the flap failure rate and complications. Results: Contrary to the free flap, use of PMMCF has gradually decreased after the middle of 1990s. PMMCF were mainly used for mucosal defect(33cases, 54.1%) and cervical skin defect(22cases, 36.1%) and free flap were mainly used for mucosal defect(129cases, 88.4%). In point of use of PMMCF according to years, from 1991 to 1997, 30cases(70%) are used to reconstruct mucosal defect and 12cases(29%) are used to reconstruct skin defect. But from 1998 to 2001, only 2cases(10.5%) are used to reconstruct mucosal defect and 13cases(68.4%) are used to reconstruct neck skin defect. In case of free flap, from 1991 to 1997, 41cases (87%) are used to reconstruct mucosal defect and from 1998 to 2001 88cases(89%) are used as same purpose. Three major necrosis (more than 50%) deveolped in 61 PMMCF (4.9%) and three major necrosis developed in 146 free flaps(2.1%). Conclusion: PMMCF is no longer flap of choice for primary reconstruction but it is a still one of a good tool in some head and neck reconstruction such as covering single wide defect of face or neck skin, back-up procedure of free flap, postoperative status, treatment of pharyngocutaneous fistula and covering vital structure.

Anaerobic denitrification in a two phase anaerobic digestion(TPAD) process combined with biological nutrients removal (BNR) system was studied for a piggery wastewater treatment. Denitrification efficiency and the effects of the nitrified effluent on acidification was investigated by recycling the nitrified effluent to the acidogenic reactor. Recycle of the nitrified effluent to the acidogenic reactor enhanced the conversion efficiency of the influent COD into volatile fatty acids(VFAs) in the TPAD-BNR system treating the piggery wastewater. Acidification rate of the acidogenic sludge acclimated with the nitrified effluent showed 6 times higher than that acclimated without it. VFA could be used for denitrification as carbon sources, however, nitrate could enhance acidification activity in the acidogenic reactor. VFA production rate was affected on the COD/Nitrate(COD/N) ratio, however, it depended much more whether the acidogenic sludge acclimated with nitrate or not. Denitrification with the acidogenic sludge acclimated without nitrified effluent followed zero-order reaction and the reaction rate constants were in the range of 1.31$\sim$1.90 mg/L$\cdot$h. Denitrification reaction rate constants of the acidogenic sludge acclimated with nitrified effluent were 3.30 mg/L$\cdot$h that showed almost twice of them evaluated from the previous tests. The stoichiometric ratios of utilized COD to removed nitrate showed similar in both tests which were in the range of 5.1$\sim$6.4 at COD/N ratio of 10.

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the spine is the preferred diagnostic tool for pathologic conditions affecting the spine. However, in patients receiving epidural corticosteroid injection (ESI) for treatment of spinal diseases, there is a possibility of misreading of MR images because of air or fluid in the epidural space after the injection. Therefore, we defined the characteristics of abnormal changes in MRI findings following an ESI in patients with low back pain. Methods: We reviewed the medical records of 133 patients who underwent MRI of the lumbar spine within 7 days after ESI between 2006 and 2015. All patients were administered an ESI using a 22-gauge Tuohy needle at the lumbar spine through the interlaminar approach. The epidural space was identified by the loss of resistance technique with air. Results: The incidences of abnormal changes in MRI findings because of ESI were 54%, 31%, and 25% in patients who underwent MRI at approximately 24 h, and 2 and 3 days after ESI, respectively. Abnormal MRI findings included epidural air or fluid, needle tracks, and soft tissue changes. Epidural air, the most frequent abnormal finding (82%), was observed in 41% of patients who underwent MRI within 3 days after injection. Abnormal findings due to an ESI were not observed in MR images acquired 4 days after ESI or later. Conclusions: Pain physicians should consider the possibility of abnormal findings in MR images acquired after epidural injection using the interlaminar approach and the loss of resistance technique with air at the lumbar spine.

Numerical studies have been carried out on scrubbers, which are after-treatment devices to satisfy strengthened emission regulations for sulfur dioxide and particulate matter. We investigated the problems with existing scrubbers through numerical analysis and designed and analyzed a new swirl-type scrubber that could solve these problems. As a result, with the swirl-type scrubber, exhaust gas formed a vortex in the lower part of the device, and some of this gas was released along the guide vane through the bottom surface. In this case, the pressure gradient in the vertical direction was not large, but a pressure difference between the inside and outside of the baffle was generated. The shape of the exhaust gas stream was investigated, and when water was not sprayed, the exhaust gas flowed constantly to the outlet along the guide vane, in contrast to when water was sprayed. It was confirmed that the shape of the flow was influenced by the guide vane, nozzle arrangement and water pressure. In the case of the swirl-type scrubber, impact on engine back-pressure was minimal, because differential pressure at the inlet and outlet was less than half of that with a conventional scrubber.
A study was conducted to determine the effects of restricted feeding and feed form on the growth performance, characteristics of carcass and digestive tract, and days to first egg of Japanese quail (JQ, Coturnix coturnix japonica). A total of 240 oneweek-old JQ chicks were allocated randomly into 4 experimental groups that consisted of 3 replicates according to a 2${\times}$2 factorial arrangement for two feeding methods (ad libitum, AF and restricted feeding, RF) and two diet forms (mash, MD and crumble, CD). The JQ chicks were placed in a room with floor battery brooders and fed a commercial starter diet from 7 to 14 d of age. According to the experimental design, four treatments (1: ad libitum MD, 2: restricted MD, 3: ad libitum CD, and 4: restricted CD) were applied. Feed restriction was applied by 30% reduction of ad libitum feed intake for both MD and CD from 15 to 28 d of age. All birds were fed ad libitum with treatment diets from 29 d of age until the first laid egg seen (45 d of age). The commercial starter diet, MD and CD were in the same nutrient content (240 g crude protein with 13.4 MJ ME per kg diet). The body weight and overall feed conversion ratio (g feed/g gain) were higher (p<0.05) for the AF quails than the RF at 42 d of age. Carcass weights, dressing percentage and percentage yields of breast and back were similar for AF and RF groups at 42 d of age. The RF delayed (p<0.05) onset of egg production 2 days compared to the AF. Quail fed with the CD showed higher value (p<0.05) for carcass weight and dressing percentage at 42 d of age compared to birds fed with the MD. The interaction effect of feeding method${\times}$feed form on any of the studied parameters was not significant. The results suggest that feed restriction as in the present study can achieve a better feed conversion without reduction in carcass weight, and a significant benefit of feeding the crumble diet over the mash diet was obtained in terms of carcass weight in the JQ.
In this study, the characteristics of various raw hairs used for traditional Korean brushes were examined; further, the characteristics and deterioration patterns of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese brushes were compared, with a quantitative evaluation to assess the brush performance. The tensile strength was generally found to be higher with a greater fiber thickness. Among the hairs examined, the back and flank hair of goat was more damaged than that in other parts, and the tensile strength was low. Higher elasticity of the brush made with hair of high cysteine content was measured. Owing to deterioration by use of the brushes, artificial drying brushes had a higher yellowness index and lower tensile strength than natural drying brushes. Further, it was confirmed that brushes with good absorbency exhibited good consistency, but not good elasticity. Thus, the performance of the brush can be influenced by the kind of material used and the brush usage pattern. In addition, it is possible to identify the material science characteristics of brushes which have been produced only by experience; therefore, the results of this study could provide basic data for manufacturing brushes employed in conservation treatment, in the future.

In this study, mesophilic anaerobic digestion of source separated food waste was carried out by leachate recirculation system and methane gas was produced. Two systems - system A and B were fabricated and placed within water bath to maintain $36^{\circ}C$. Each system was comprised of an anaerobic bioreactor and a leachate tank. Leachate in bioreactor was separated through the screen located at 30 mm above the bottom and a pump was installed to transfer collected leachate to the leachate tank. Everyday, 2.5 L of the leachate was pumped from the bioreactor to the leachate tank for 30 min and transferred leachate was pumped back to the top of the bioreactor for 30min, sequentially. Source separated food waste used for this experiment was washed by water before transferring to the laboratory. Transferred food waste was warmed to $36^{\circ}C$ before being fed to bioreactors. System A was fed to 49.1 g VS (Volatile Solids) and System B was fed to 54.0 g VS at every two weeks, respectively. $NH_4{^+}-N$ and salinity were monitored to see the inhibition toward anaerobic bioreaction and it was found that concentrations of these materials were not high enough to affect the bioreaction. Although the food waste was fed biweekly for 112 days and 140 days at system A and B, respectively, there was no sludge withdrawal from each system. Average methane productions rates were 0.439 L $CH_4/g$ VS and 0.368 L $CH_4/g$ VS for system A and B, respectively.
This study was aimed to develop an instrument for real-time measurement of fluid conductance and to investigate the hydrodynamics of dentinal fluid. The instrument consisted of three parts; (1) a glass capillary and a photo sensor for detection of fluid movement, (2) a servo-motor, a lead screw and a ball nut for tracking of fluid movement, (3) a rotary encoder and software for data processing. To observe the blocking effect of dentinal fluid movement, oxalate gel and self-etch adhesive agent were used. BisBlock (Bisco) and Clearfil SE Bond (Kuraray) were applied to the occlusal dentin surface of extracted human teeth. Using this new device, the fluid movement was measured and compared between before and after each agent was applied. The instrument was able to measure dentinal fluid movement with a high resolution (0.196 nL) and the flow occurred with a rate of 0.84 to 15.2 nL/s before treatment. After BisBlock or Clearfil SE Bond was used, the fluid movement was decreased by 39.8 to 89.6%.
Many researches have been performed whether electrical stimulation could be used for diagnosis and treatment on the auditory system impairment. Unfortunately, there were no standard methods or theoretical background for choosing stimulus conditions because of the lack of understanding on the transmission of electrical stimulation through the auditory pathway. This research was conducted to observe the effect of electrical stimulation on the tinnitus-induced animals. Nine guniea pigs were used for the experment and divided into two groups, five animals for the experimental group(A) and four animals for the control group(B). Experimental conditions were divided into four steps, before tinnitus induction and 1, 6, 12 hours after tinnitus induction using salicylate based on the Jastreboff model. In each experimental condition, ABR and ECochG were obtained, and autocorrelation coefficients were calculated from normalized waveforms based on rms values. Sum of all the autocorrelation coefficients was extracted as a parameter to observe the changes between before and after the electrical stimulation. As a result, ABR parameter values were rapidly increased 6 hours after tinnitus induction, the gradually returned back to the initial state. On the other hand, when electrical stimulation was applied, parameter values did not change compared with the initial sate. Parameter values of ECochG showed that the effect of electrical stimulation appeared 12 hours after the tinnitus induction. It was concluded that an electrical stimulation to the tinnitus-induced model changes the correlation coefficients of ABR and ECochG waveforms.
