탄소나노튜브 기반 백 라이트 유닛 기술 동향 (Technical Trend of Carbon Nanotube Based Back Light Unit)

  • 탄소나노튜브(CNT)는 나노 기술의 대표적인 물질로, 나노 크기의 팁 반경과 100:1 이상의 높은 종횡비, 그리고 물리 화학적 안정성 등으로 인해 이상적인 전자 방출원 재료로 여겨져 많은 연구기관들이 CNT를 이용한 응용 소자를 개발하고 있다. 나노 기술을 바탕으로 한 CNT 백 라이트 유닛(BLU)은 CNT에 인가된 전기장에 의해 전자가 방출되고 방출된 전자가 고전압으로 가속되어 형광체를 때려서 발광하는 원리로 작동되며, 면광윈으로서 고정세의 로컬 디밍, 고속 순간 발광에 의한 잔상 제거 등의 장점으로 고품질의 LCD TV에 적용될 수 있으며, 냉음극형광램프와 발광다이오드를 대체할 만한 차세대 BLU로서 뛰어난 특성을 가지고 있다.

  • 24" LCD Monitor용 LED BLU를 개발하기 위하여 1.5W R,G,G,B가 하나의 PKG에 들어있는 LED를 이용하여 Direct type의 Back Light Unit을 개발하였다. 방열 및 휘도 균일도를 고려하여 LED part를 설계, 개발 하였고 LED를 pulse로 구동하기 위하여 Switching circuit이 포함되는 구동회로 부분을 설계, 개발하였다. 또한 Color Sensor와 ICM (Integrated Color Management) IC를 사용하여 Color를 Control하는 제어회로 부분도 개발을 하였다. 제어회로 부분을 개발하기 위하여 MicroController를 사용하였으며 ICM IC와의 통신을 위한 부분도 개발하였다. 이러한 구성을 개발하여 시제품을 직접 제작하였다. 평가를 위하여 성능시험을 실시하였고 광학적인 평가도 시행하였다. 제작된 시제품은 $L558{\times}W359{\times}H30$으로 하였다. 휘도는 목표휘도를 이루었으며 균일도는 85% 이상이 되었다.

  • We have designed High Performance Prism LGP in 17 inch TFT-LCD. In test result to embody high brightness BLU in case of LGP of base and upper surface with 17 inch, thickness 8mm adding prism construct, it is superior brightness improvement than previous that of printing form about some 20% and in this course to embody actual material it succeeded prism LGP production by 17 inch injection form process.

  • The competitiveness of the manufacturing company is evaluated in terms of line productivity, quality cost, inventory level, logistics efficiency, and so on. The productivity is defined by the number of products divided by the number of workers within the given operation time. Increasing the productivity is not easy to man-operated situation in the line, since it heavily depends on the standard time of the workers. This paper deals with the productivity of the Back Light Unit assembler for TFT-LCD, and proposes the methodology of investigating the optimal process by simulation of Arena.

  • LEDs have small size, long lifespan, high reliability, low power consumption and high color efficiency. Using such a characteristics, LED Back Light Unit has been studying actively. This paper proposes LED driver to minimize power consumption due to LED forward voltage($V_F$) difference and temperature rising. Compared to conventional LED driver, the proposed driver have excellent stability, brief structure and linear output voltage of DC-DC boost converter. Proposed LED Driver circuit was designed using 0.35um CMOS technology. And its operation was verified through simulation.

  • LED 광원 기술의 발전과 더불어 응용분야도 다양하게 넓어지고 있다. 이중 본 논문에서는 액정 후면 배광 장치와 같이 고성능의 광원이 요구되는 응용제품에 적합한 광원을 제작하였다. 논문에서 제안한 광원은 금속산화물 절연층을 이용하여 LED chip에서 발생한 열을 효율적으로 외부로 전달하는 구조를 적용하였으며 패키지 구조가 아닌 chip과의 접촉면에 반사컵 구조를 적용하여 배광 분포 제어와 광자 재흡수 특성을 개선하였다.

A Design and Case Study of a K-Stage BLU Inspection System for Achieving a Target Defective Rate

  • In this paper, we address a design problem and a case study of a K-stage back-light-unit(BLU) inspection system, which is composed of K stages, each of which includes an inspection process and a rework process. Assuming the type I, II errors and the inspection-free policy for items classified as good, we determine the smallest integer of K which can achieve a given target defective rate. If K does not exist, holding the current values of the type I, II errors, we search reversely the defective rate of an assembly line and the defective rate of a rework process, to meet the target defective rate. Our formulae and methodology based on a K-stage inspection system could be applied and extended to similar situations with slight modification.

Dependence of Xe Plasma Flat Fluorescent Lamp On the Electrode Gap and Dielectric Layer Thickness

  • In this work, a coplanar-type plasma flat fluorescent lamp having cross type of electrode was fabricated by screen printing and sealing technique. Cross type of electrode with a dielectric layer were screen-printed on a rear glass plate, and then fired at $550^{\circ}C$. Phosphor was printed on and fired at $450^{\circ}C$. Finally, the lamp was sealed by frit glass at $450^{\circ}C$. The lamp of cross electrode type was studied depending on the electrode gap and the thickness of dielectric layer.

  • In this study, flat fluorescent lamps (FFLs) having surface discharge structures was fabricated by screen printing technique and were studied using spectraradiometer and square pulse power supply. Two types of FFLs having different shapes of electrodes (crosstype and line-type structure) were compared with variation of discharge shape and mixed gas ratio.

  • In this paper, Experimental results on the measurement of mechanical properties of fine patterns in the MEMS structure are described. The mechanical properties of embossing patterns on metallic thin foil is measured using the nano indentation system, that is developed by Korea Institute of Industrial Technology(KITECH). These micro embossing patterns are fabricated using CIP(Cold Isostatic Press) process on micro metallic thin foils(Al-1100) that are made by rolling process. These embossing patterned metallic thin foils(Al-1100) are used in the reflecting plate of BLU(Back Light Unit) and electrical/mechanical MEMS components. If these mechanical properties of fine patterns are utilized in a design procedure, the optimal design can be achieved in aspects of reliability as well as economy.
