  • Blind source extraction (BSE) is a special class of blind source separation (BSS) methods, which only extracts one or a subset of the sources at a time. Based on the time delay of the desired signal, a simple but important extraction algorithm (simplified " BC algorithm")was presented by Barros and Cichocki. However, the performance of this method is not satisfying in some cases for which it only carries out the constrained minimization of the mean squared error. To overcome these drawbacks, ICA with reference (ICA-R) based approach, which considers the higher-order statistics of sources, is added as the second stage for further source extraction. Specifically, BC algorithm is exploited to roughly extract the desired signal. Then the extracted signal in the first stage, as the reference signal of ICA-R method, is further used to extract the desired sources as cleanly as possible. Simulations on synthetic data and real-world data show its validity and usefulness.

  • Background: This study analyzed predictors of regular mammography performance in Korea. In addition, we determined factors affecting regular mammography performance in life-transition aged women by applying an attitude, social influence, and self-efficacy (ASE) model. Materials and Methods: Data were collected from women aged over 40 years residing in province J in Korea. The 178 enrolled subjects provided informed voluntary consent prior to completing a structural questionnaire. Results: The overall regular mammography performance rate of the subjects was 41.6%. Older age, city residency, high income and part-time job were associated with a high regular mammography performance. Among women who had undergone more breast self-examinations (BSE) or more doctors' physical examinations (PE), there were higher regular mammography performance rates. All three ASE model factors were significantly associated with regular mammography performance. Women with a high level of positive ASE values had a significantly high regular mammography performance rate. Within the ASE model, self-efficacy and social influence were particularly important. Logistic regression analysis explained 34.7% of regular mammography performance and PE experience (${\beta}=4.645$, p=.003), part-time job (${\beta}=4.010$, p=.050), self-efficacy (${\beta}=1.820$, p=.026) and social influence (${\beta}=1.509$, p=.038) were significant factors. Conclusions: Promotional strategies that could improve self-efficacy, reinforce social influence and reduce geographical, time and financial barriers are needed to increase the regular mammography performance rate in life-transition aged.

  • The research investigates the impact of the lockdown period caused by the COVID-19 to the stock market of India. The study examines the extent of the influence of the lockdown on the Indian stock market and whether the market reaction would be the same in pre- and post-lockdown period caused by COVID-19. Market Model Event study methodology is used. A sample of 31 companies listed on Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) are selected at random for the purpose of the study. The sample period taken for the study is 35 days (24 February-17 April, 2020). An event window of 35 days was taken with 20 days prior to the event and 15 days during the event. The event (t1) being the official announcement of the lockdown. The results indicate that the market reacted positively with significantly positive Average Abnormal Returns during the present lockdown period, and investors anticipated the lockdown and reacted positively, whereas in the pre-lockdown period investors panicked and it was reflected in negative AAR. The study finds evidence of a positive AR around the present lockdown period and confirms that lockdown had a positive impact on the stock market performance of stocks till the situation improves in the Indian context.

  • A gene, nprM, from Bacillus megaterium ATCC 14945 was obtained by PCR using primers synthesized based on two nprM sequences from two different strains, and cloned into Escherichia coli. The gene nprM encoded an extracellular neutral protease, and the molecular mass of the expressed enzyme was estimated to be approximately 36kDa on a denaturating gel. The enzyme was activated by $Ca^{2+}$, and the optimum concentration of $Ca^{2+}$ was 5 mM. The enzyme was inhibited by EDTA but not by PMSF. The optimal pH and temperature of the cloned enzyme were $50^{\circ}C and pH 7.5-8.0, respectively, and were similar to those of the enzyme from the gene gonor cell. The cloned NprM caused internal cleavage of the native endoglucanase of B. subtilis BSE616 as a model foregin protein, and resulted in a small truncated but still active endoglucanase.

  • To elucidate the effects of alloying elements on the characteristics of microstructure and high temperature oxidation of cast austenitic stainless steel, a thermodynamic calculation, a cyclic oxidation test, a X-ray diffraction, a scanning electron microscopy-back scattered electron, a electron probe microanalysis were conducted. The thermodynamic calculation for the effect of vanadium (V) addition on the formation of various precipitates leads to a decrease of chromium (Cr)-rich $M_{23}C_6$ carbides due to the formation of M (C, N) carbo-nitrides containing V and / or niobium (Nb). The V added alloy increased the resistance to high temperature oxidation due to a decrease of Cr-depleted zone deteriorating the oxidation resistance and due to the V-enriched oxide layer formed in inner oxide layer blocking the outward transport of cations.

  • The effect of catalysts which was catalyzed by acid($HNO_3$) and base ($NH_4OH$) or not on the surface microst-ructures and consequent dielectric characteristics of the $PbTiO_3$ thin films prepared by sol-gel method were investigated. The result indicated that bse catalyst promoted the phase transformation of perovskite phase while acid catalyst was found to produce most uniform surface microstructure and improved dielectric properties However degradation of properties due to secondary phase formation and non-uniform microstructure at high annealing temperature (>75$0^{\circ}C$) by rapid diffusion of lead was unavoidable in any case as long as $Si_{(100)}$ \ $SiO_2$ \Pt substrate used.

  • The demand for traceability of meat and livestock supply chains is growing due to the high-profile incidents of hormonal contamination. E. coli, dioxin, BSE, and antibiotics have been recorded. In this paper, we present blockchain-based poultry information management system design and implementation using Hyperledger Fabric. The proposed system offers accurate, decentralized, immutable and consensus process that promote trust and transparency between stakeholders. The main tasks of the system include the recording of the information associated with poultry rearing (from a hatchery to a farm), status report of the farm activities on a monthly basis. The system can track movement of docks through the supply chain until delivery to the final consumer through the retail outlet. The ability to trace the source of livestock product through all the stages of rearing/production, processing and distribution is essential for ensuring food safety as recall of contaminated product can easily be done thereby increasing consumer confidence.

  • Investors have increasingly become interested in macroeconomic antecedents in order to better understand the investment environment and estimate the scope of profitable investment in equity markets. This study endeavors to examine the interdependency between the macroeconomic antecedents (international oil price (COP), Domestic gold price (GP), Rupee-dollar exchange rates (ER), Real interest rates (RIR), consumer price indices (CPI)), and the BSE Sensex and Nifty 50 index return. The data is converted into a natural logarithm for keeping it normal as well as for reducing the problem of heteroscedasticity. Monthly time series data from January 1992 to July 2019 is extracted from the Reserve Bank of India database with the application of financial Econometrics. Breusch-Godfrey serial correlation LM test for removal of autocorrelation, Breusch-Pagan-Godfrey test for removal of heteroscedasticity, Cointegration test and VECM test for testing cointegration between macroeconomic factors and market returns,] are employed to fit regression model. The Indian market returns are stable and positive but show intense volatility. When the series is stationary after the first difference, heteroskedasticity and serial correlation are not present. Different forecast accuracy measures point out macroeconomics can forecast future market returns of the Indian stock market. The step-by-step econometric tests show the long-run affiliation among macroeconomic antecedents.
