A Study of BIM based estimation Modeling data reliability improvement (BIM기반 견적 모델링 데이터 신뢰성 향상을 위한 연구)

  • A methodology for BIM Quality Assurance in the construction industry is becoming increasingly an important issue to determine the reliability of BIM. However, the quality assurance of BIM is currently limited to check 3D models, such as clash detection and space layout while verification methods for disciplinary BIM results from structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and estimation do not exist yet. Particularly, in the BIM-based estimation mathematical equations to take off quantities are not clearly exposed so that the results are not quite accepted at practices. With the concept of reliability engineering defined in the manufacturing industry to improve reliability of outcomes of BIM-based quantity take-off, impacting factors that affect reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off were derived. It was found that the factors also include the modeling method and the features of a BIM tool. Therefore, this research aims to propose modeling and verification methods to improve reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off through the pilot test that was performed with commercial BIM tools and IFC-based BIM data.

  • In this study, neighborhood facility and office building to target two cases were performed BIM process. In the initial design phase of the planning process was conducted for the BIM process modeling, BIM in the design stage while performing the required range and level of the process were studied. Accordingly, from architectural firms to leverage BIM process, the proposed methods, efficient use of the modeling process proposed. Quality management information and input for the modeling and design process should be determined from the initial design and construction, including, for each field should be considered BIM, which require an appropriate range of information, according to these requirements, BIM creation and expansion of the level of information should be clearly defined. Perform the procedure for BIM in the process of communicating with stakeholders is critical. In addition, the input data and output data needed to perform management and to perform at the level obtained BIM design process and the model should be clear.

  • Introduction of BIM(Building Information Modeling) was led by public institutions, and all buildings over a certain size were obligated to apply BIM. However, through various attempt to apply BIM to actual practice, people had doubt whether it is a usable technology in reality appeared. Therefore, this study investigated cases about implementation strategies of foreign countries, and conducted survey on BIM performances and preparation in architectural design firms. On the basis of this, it suggests the long-term development strategy of BIM and the basic direction of road map to adopt BIM effectively to domestic architectural design market. After considering the cases abroad and the results of survey, it is identified that incentive policies supporting finance and education should be carried out together with partially obligation method led by government in order to introduce BIM into architectural design market effectively by reflecting current situation of architectural design firms.

BIM Model Quality Improvement by Case Study Analysis (품질검증 사례 분석을 통한 BIM모델 품질개선 방안)

  • The recent introduction of BIM technology has raised the interest on the BIM quality assurance and management more than ever. This study aims to consider the ways of BIM quality improvement by analyzing the most frequent issues rising from multiple BIM projects. For this purpose, the 12 test models from BIM education program hosted by buildingSMART Korea are investigated based on the requirements in the public BIM guidelines. All the BIM issues generated are categorized by the criteria applied and analyzed for each kind of building element. The results showed that more than half of the issued at least could be cleared out by improving modeling habits and technical guides.

  • Recently a construction industry introduces information technology that brings about many advantages in the early planning phase, design phase and construction phase. Nevertheless a BIM has a many benefits, it has limits which are not only usually using 3D modeling but also limit of making full use of practical affairs because of a lack of connecting varietals of progress of work. To solve these uppermost limits, this research is presenting unified systems to use in risk management which are efficient management of space and non-space information, space analysis.

  • Currently, various studies and applications related BIM based quantity take-off have been attempted, because of the accuracy of cost estimating and reliability by using the BIM model information in automatical calculation. Finishing works that have a large number of various types and materials need the higher accuracy and reliability on the BIM-based quantity take-off. Therefore, this study compared and analyzed 2D and 3D based quantity through Test-bed and determine the cause of the quantity difference. This verified the accuracy and efficiency in the BIM-based quantity take-off for finishing works. Also this study has been proposed opinions for calculating the exact BIM-based quantity take-off.

  • 본 연구는 Building Information Modeling(이하 BIM)의 본연의 목표인 정보의 통합 관리 및 재활용 측면에서 모델의 정보를 정확하고 체계적으로 구축될 수 있는 품질검증의 필요성을 인지하고 이를 위해 BIM 모델의 품질검증 방안에 관하여 논의하고자 한다. 이를 위해 국내외 BIM 관련 품질관리 현황을 파악하고 국내 정보시스템 구축에 관한 지침으로 한국데이터베이스 진흥 센터의 데이터 품질관리 지침을 분석하여 BIM 품질검증 방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 그 결과 BIM 모델의 품질검증 방안을 구축하기 위해 첫쩨 사전적 의미로부터 품질관리의 개념을 수립하고, 그 대상을 설정 하였으며, 둘째로 품질관리의 최종 목표인 정보의 재활용 관점에서 단계적 접근방안으로 5단계의 전략적 방향을 제시 하였다. 마지막으로 BIM 모델의 품질검증 방안을 구축하기 위해 사례 분석을 토대로 BIM 모델 관점에서 품질 검증 시기, 기준, 방법을 제시하였다.

Existing Building Approval Submission Process Improvement Effect Analysis thru Utilization of BIM

  • Advanced countries have mandated applying BIM in construction projects. Also, Public Procurement Service has planned to mandate applying BIM to all construction project that ordered in PPS from 2016 in KOREA. However, now Seumter that is building administration system is not supported BIM based construction license BIM information from Seumter. Thus, despite the applicant is preparing a BIM model, they do not take advantage of BIM information in Seumter. In previous studies. We developed a BIM based building approval submission system. In this study, we verified the system that developed in previous research. As a result, requirement information input time reduction in Seumter system showed high satisfaction. But there was as low usability because building approval submission system cannot support some information for building approval in seumter. If the system will do utilization and management with the building approval system, the applicant can be using BIM base design document information and saving the time that takes at building approval submission. Study about the system improvement is required for application to building approval system.

  • For effective building maintenance, the collection and management of various maintenance date such as work history information and material information is required. Despite the introduction of information management technologies and systems to reduce the amount of maintenance work of buildings, which have become larger and more complex, the maintenance information is not being utilized properly. As an alternative, research on the introduction and utilization of BIM is being conducted continuously. However, the BIM models generated at the design phase are not utilized in practice due to a lack of architectural maintenance information. This study proposed a COBie document prototype to support BIM-based smart maintenance tasks performed by building managers. In order to formalize various types of maintenance work procedures, a BIM-based maintenance process model is presented in two categories: inspection and maintenance. Among the BIM attribute data of the BIM model generated at the design phase, the parameters corresponding to the maintenance necessary information for each basic process are derived. Based on this, we proposed a COBie document prototype consisting of seven spreadsheets. The results of a case study confirmed that the KBIMS library-based BIM model created at the design phase without the maintenance information can be used at the maintenance phase.

  • With application of IT convergence technique in AEC industry, it is currently conducted the research on the virtual construction system. This paper aims at the pilot study on the structural design based on BIM used in collaboration environment. The work scope of structural design includes the structural analysis model, structural detail model and analytic model and we focuse the research on the interoperability among them. It is partly utilized the transfer module supplied by software developer and partly developed here the interface module through API. This paper shows the interoperability process to pilot test and indicates the problems occurred in interface.
