This study proposes MF (Model Filter)-based M-BDL (MF-based BIM Data Linkage), which is a model filter-based data mapping method for BIM (Building Information Modeling)-BEMS linkage. Recently, BEMS (Building Energy Management System) is actively utilizing 3D spatial information. This allows the user to intuitively manage the facility energy linked to spatial information. To use BIM data in energy management systems, it is essential to link BEMS with BIM data only in terms of the user requirements. On the other hand, if the BIM is a rich dataset and is linked as it is, the user will need to manage the unnecessary information. By mapping only the data required for BEMS in heavy BIM data through M-BDL, the BIM data can be lightened and the amount of data required for maintenance can be reduced. This technology proposes a mapping method that can link the BIM data with the filtered BIM data.

Building Information Modeling (BIM) data is a digitized construction design by worldwide construction design stands rules. Some research are being conducted to utilize blockchain for safe sharing and trade of BIM data, but there is no way to store BIM data directly in the blockchain due to the size of BIM data and technical limitation of the blockchain. In this paper, we propose a method of storing BIM data by combining a distributed file system and a blockchain. We propose two network overlays for storing BIM data, and we also propose generating the Level of Detail (LOD)-based merkle tree for efficient verification of BIM data. In addition, this paper proposes a system design for distributed storage of BIM data by using blockchain besu client and IPFS client. Our system design has a result that the processing speed stably increased despite the increase in data size.

As high-rise and irregularly shaped building structures have become a trend at home and abroad, BIM technology is now being developed and accepted widely. However, the BIM data and information generated in the design phase cannot be actively reutilized in the construction stage. This is because the major interests of construction companies include working process and cost estimation, while there is not usually enough BIM data created to support these activities. In order to resolve this issue, we need to set up BIM modeling guides that make it possible to extract correct quantity take-off from BIM data. Quality checks are also necessary to ensure that the resulting BIM data is correct. This study suggests ways of securing BIM quality for correct quantity take-off, which is critical for BIM technology applied to the building construction process and its cost estimation.

The purpose of this study is to propose a cache structure for processing large-volume building information modeling (BIM) geometry data, whereit is difficult to allocate physical memory. As the number of BIM orders has increased in the public sector, it is becoming more common to visualize and calculate large-volume BIM geometry data. Design and review collaboration can require a lot of time to download large-volume BIM data through the network. If the BIM data exceeds the physical free-memory limit, visualization and geometry computation cannot be possible. In order to utilize large amounts of BIM data on insufficient physical memory or a low-bandwidth network, it is advantageous to cache only the data necessary for BIM geometry rendering and calculation time. Thisstudy proposes acache structure for efficiently rendering and calculating large-volume BIM geometry data where it is difficult to allocate enough physical memory.

A methodology for BIM Quality Assurance in the construction industry is becoming increasingly an important issue to determine the reliability of BIM. However, the quality assurance of BIM is currently limited to check 3D models, such as clash detection and space layout while verification methods for disciplinary BIM results from structural engineering, mechanical engineering, and estimation do not exist yet. Particularly, in the BIM-based estimation mathematical equations to take off quantities are not clearly exposed so that the results are not quite accepted at practices. With the concept of reliability engineering defined in the manufacturing industry to improve reliability of outcomes of BIM-based quantity take-off, impacting factors that affect reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off were derived. It was found that the factors also include the modeling method and the features of a BIM tool. Therefore, this research aims to propose modeling and verification methods to improve reliability of BIM-based quantity take-off through the pilot test that was performed with commercial BIM tools and IFC-based BIM data.

BIM technology has been used in the domestic AEC field since the middle 2000s. BIM has proved its worth in cutting-edge buildings, mega-buildings and freeform buildings in particular. Many freeform buildings could not be completed due to the low level of construction technique. However, many successful cases emerged after adopting digital technology, including BIM which encouraged architects to challenge freeform designs. The modeling software that can generate the freeform shape are not usually able to build the efficient BIM data type in the AEC industry. In this study a process model of the parametric freeform construction member generation and conversion to BIM data is shown and the prototype system is demonstrated.

The importance of using construction data is increasing in accordance with the recent trend in the smart construction. However, construction project and maintenance information is distributed on the web, and the existing BIM(Building Information Modeling) information exchange and linking method using IFC(Industry Foundation Classes) cannot support connection with BIM data and web resources. This study aims to establish the BIM-based port facility data integration system using linked data(LD) technology in order to integrate BIM and heterogeneous data in the port maintenance domain. To this end, the port BIM-based ifcOWL and port facility maintenance ontology were designed, and LD was built for the BIM and maintenance information of Busan New Port 2-1 Pier3, a BIM pilot project. In addition, service prototypes such as search, statistics and SPARQL(SPARQL Protocol and RDF Query Language) endpoint functions were implemented using the issued LD. The LD-based information utilization system is expected to improve the reusability of information by converting the existing closed information system into an open system and BIM and maintenance data as a web resource in a standard format.

As the need for 3D spatial information increases, many local governments and related industries are establishing map-based 3D spatial information services and offering them to users. In these services, positional accuracy is one of the most important factors determining their applicability to specific tasks. This study studied the location correction method between indoor and outdoor 3D spatial information through the construction of modeling data on a BIM/GIS platform. First, we selected the sites and processed the BIM/GIS data construction with 3 steps. When connecting the BIM model including indoor spatial data and 3D texturing model based on ortho images, mismatches occurred, so we proposed a location correction method. Using the conversion algorithm, the relative coordinate-based BIM data were converted to the absolute positions and then relocated by means of the texturing data on the BIM/GIS platform.

To utilize building information modeling (BIM) technology at the bridge maintenance stage, it is necessary to integrate large quantities of bridge inspection and model data for object-oriented information management. This research aims to establish the benefits of utilizing the extended industry foundation class (IFC)-BIM and ontology for bridge inspection information management. The IFC entities were extended to represent the bridge objects, and a method of generating the extended IFC-based information model was proposed. The bridge inspection ontology was also developed by extraction and classification of inspection concepts from the AASHTO standard. The classified concepts and their relationships were mapped to the ontology based on the semantic triples approach. Finally, the extended IFC-based BIM model was integrated with the ontology for bridge inspection data management. The effectiveness of the proposed framework for bridge inspection information management by integration of the extended IFC-BIM and ontology was tested and verified by extracting bridge inspection data via the SPARQL query.

Currently, Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an emerging technological shift that involves applying and maintaining an integral digital representation of all building information for different phases of the project life-cycle. Although BIM has been recognized as a main stream in the construction industry, it is difficult to ensure the quality of BIM data due to the problems such as internal errors of BIM tools and lack of guidelines considering design quality. Such problems give lots of difficulties to BIM adoption for designers, constructors, and owners. Therefore, it is necessary to develop the requirements including the object-oriented modeling method and property definition by applying the Industry Foundation Classes (IFC) which is an ISO/PAS 16739 standard for ensuring the quality of BIM data. This research aims at proposing the requirements considering the quality of BIM data and demonstrating the efficiency of the requirements with using the Solibri Model Checker (SMC) which is a quality control tool in a case study.
