  • Brushless DC(BLDC) motor have been increasingly used in machine tools and robotics applications due to the reliability and the efficiency. In control of BLDC motor, it is important to construct the controller which is robust to parameter variations and external disturbances. Variable structure controller(VSC) has been known as a powerful tool in robust control of time varying systems. In practical systems, however, VSC has a high frequency chattering which deteriorates system performances. In this paper, a binary controller(BC) which takes the form of VSC and MRAC combined is presented to solve this problem. BC consists of the primary loop controller and the external loop controller to change the gain of primary loop controller smoothly. So it can generate the continuous control input and is insensitive to parameter variations in the given domain. To confirm the validity, various investigations of control characteristics for various design parameters in a position control system of BLDC motor are carried out. A Study on the New BC-ABBM Motion Estimation Algorithm for Low Bit Rate Video Coding (저 전송률 비디오 압축을 위한 새로운 BC-ABBM 움직임 추정 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Fast search and conventional boolean matching motion estimation algorithms reduce computational complexity and data processing time but this algorithms have disadvantages that is difficult of implementation of hardware because of high control overhead and that is less performance than Full search Algorithm(FA). This paper present new all binary block matching algorithm, called Bit Converted All Binary Block Matching(BC-ABBM). Proposed algorithm have performance closed to the FA by boolean only block matching that may be very efficiently implemented in hardware for low bit rate video communication. Simulation results show that the PSNR of the proposed algorithm is about 0.04dB loss than FA but is about 0.6 ∼ 1.4dB gain than fast search algorithm and conventional boolean matching algorithm.

  • Due to its simplicity and high reliability, the box-counting(BC) method is one of the most frequently used techniques to estimate the fractal dimensions of a binary image with a self-similarity property. The fractal calculation requires data sampling that determines the size of boxes to be sampled from the given image and directly affects the accuracy of the fractal dimension estimation. There are three non-overlapping regular grid methods: geometric-step method, arithmetic-step method and divisor-step method. These methods have some drawbacks when the image size M becomes large. This paper presents a BC algorithm for enhancing the accuracy of the fractal dimension estimation based on a new sampling method. Instead of using the geometric-step method, the new sampling method, called the coverage ratio-step method, selects the number of steps according to the coverage ratio. A set of experiments using well-known fractal images showed that the proposed method outperforms the existing BC method and the triangular BC method.

  • Variable structure control (VSC) can be used for the control of power plants required stability and robustness such as elevator control. It has no overshoot and is insensitive to parameter variations and disturbances in the sliding mode where the system structure is changed with the sliding surface in the center. But in the real system, VSC has a high frequency chattering which has a bad influence upon the control system proformances. In this paper, to alleviate the high frequency chattering, a binary controller (BC) with inertial type external loop is implemented by DSP and applied to position control of brushless DC motor. Binary controller has external loop to generate the continuous control input with the flexible variation of primary loop gain. Thus it has the property of chattering alleviation in addition to advantages of the conventional variable structure control.

  • In this paper discusses isolation driver of single phase AC-DC reversible power converter The reversible power converter driven by binary combination at different transformer winding ratio by BCD code level. It has a advantage that constructs a control system simply and obtain load current of good quality with out filter circuit and free from noise or isolation for lower switching frequency. In this research, study on current type converter and inverter circuit that consist for possibility of AC-DC/BC-AC multi-level reversible converter.
