  • A single specimen of Glossogobius olivaceus was collected from Ulsan, Korea in May 2015, representing the first identification of the species in Korean waters. This species is characterized by several blackish dots on the nape, developed sensory pores and papillae on the head, 33 lateral line scales, and 27 vertebrae. The newly proposed Korean names of the genus and species are "Geom-eun-ban-jeom-mang-duk-sok" and "Geom-eun-ban-jeom-mang-duk", respectively.

  • The following demonstrates similarities between Japanese and Korean food culture. The facts have been discovered through the examination of records kept by Korean Communication Facilities and Japanese Envoys. Both countries used the numbers 7, 5, 3, in food treats. Both demonstrated Da do(茶道) style during banquet. Japanese Na-ra-dae(奈良臺) is similar to Korean Sue-bae-sang(壽杯床). Both countries had a Kan-ban(decorative table, 看盤) and Mi-soo(wine and someatables, 味數) during banquet. The composition of the table may be the same for both Korean Geo-sick-oh-kwa-sang and Japanese 3Jeup(soups) 15Che(dishes). Agasang is a Kan-ban(decorative table) of Choson's Da-do(茶道) style.

  • Eating was done on a respective one-man dining table, which reflect the esteem for the individual. The family eating place was generally An-bang of the house, The eating space of Yang-ban housing with its hierarchical, spatial method of tabling and eating around the head of the family served as a synchronically meaningful space which was to strengthen the solidarity of patriarchy beyond the mere funtioning place of eating. That meaning seems to reveal itself more conspicuously when we consider that the eating place is An-bang, the center of the main house. The basic space for cooking was Bu-oak (Chung-ji). Thre was no water-supply system or drainage in the kitchen, so all the water needed for cooking was drawn from outdoor well with a bucket. The traditional eating habits, the entertainment for the bustling guests, and the frequent sacrificial rites required many store rooms for the subasidiary food and wide space for putting food into order.
