  • Objectives We studied on anti-allergic effects of Ganoderma lucidum herbal acupuncture(GHA) and Ganoderma lucidum extract(GE). Methods In vivo, Animals were herbal-acupunctured GHA at both B13s three times for 5 days. Then, we investigated compound 48/80-induced active systemic anaphylatic shock using ICR mice and anti-DNP IgE-induced passive cutaneous anaphylaxis using Sprague Dawley rat. In vitro, we measured cell viability, b-hexosaminidase release, IL-4 and TNF-a from RBL-2H3 cells, and nitric oxide from Raw264.7 cell after treatment of GE of various concentrations. Results In vivo, GHA pretreatments at both B13s inhibited compound 48/80-induced active systemic anaphylatic shock. Passive cutaneous anaphylaxis were inhibited by GHA10 and OP. In vitro, $0.1\;{\sim}\;2%$ GE treatments were not affect on cell viability and inhibited b-hexosaminidase release, IL-4, TNF-a and nitric oxide. Conclusions These results suggest that GHA and GE may be beneficial in the inhibition of allergic inflammatory response.

  • Tetra-tert-butyl-tetrapropionycalix (4) arena (C56H7208) is Triclinic, space group Pl, with a=13.664(5), b=17.585(5), c=12.863(2)A, a=109.33(2), B=111.97(2), γ=76.45(3) ˚, Z=2, V=2684.08A3, D, =1.152g/cm3, Dm=1.15g/cm3. The intensity data were collected on an Enraf-Nonius CAD-4 Diffractometer with a graphite monochromated Mo-Ka radiation. The structure was solved by direct methods and refined by leastsquares methods. The final R factor was 0.084 for 2561 observed reflections. The configuration of the molecule from the X-ray crystallographic investigation has the partial cone conformation, three tort-butylphenyls are down and a tort-butylphenyl is up. Three propionyloxy groups direct toward the exterior of the macrocycle cavity.

  • In this paper, we present a circularly polarized (CP) composite cavity-backed crossed dipole antenna for global positioning system (GPS) applications. We produce the CP radiation by crossing two dipoles through a $90^{\circ}$ phase delay line of a vacant-quarter printed ring, which also has a broadband impedance matching characteristic. Two techniques, insertion of meander lines in the dipole arm and arrowhead-shaped trace at its end, are employed to reduce the sizes of the primary radiation element. The compact radiator is backed by a cavity reflector to achieve a wide CP radiation beamwidth. The proposed antenna exhibits a measured bandwidth of 1.450~1.656 GHz for a voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) < 2 and 1.555~1.605 GHz for AR < 3-dB. At 1.575 GHz, the antenna has a gain of 7 dBic, a frontto-back ratio of 27 dB, AR of 1.18 dB, and 3-dB AR beamwidths of $130^{\circ}$ and $132^{\circ}$ in the x-z and y-z planes, respectively.

  • We prepared EM wave absorbers by using recycled Sr ferrite for GHz frequency, and investigated the effects of carbon additions and preparation temperatures on their EM wave absorption properties. A Sr ferrite EM wave absorber with the ratio of Sr ferrite: silicon rubber: carbon = 80 : 13.6: 6.4 wt% prepared at 7$0^{\circ}C$ showed -24 dB at 9.4 GHz and -23 dB at 5.5 GHz for 2 mm and 3 mm thickness, respectively.

  • Polymeric multi-mode optical waveguides were fabricated for parallel optical interconnection. Waveguide structures were molded by a Ni mold master using a hot embossing technique. The Ni mold master was manufactured by LIGA process. Multimode optical waveguides with a 48$\times$47 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$^2$cross-section were produced by a simple two-step process. The propagation losses of the multimode waveguide measured at 0.85 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 1.3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ wavelengths were 0.38 dB/cm and 0.66 dB/cm, respectively.

  • This investigation was designed to categorize Angle's class II malocclusion groups through analyzing horizontal and vertical components of craniofacial skeleton in Angle's class II malocclusion. The material selected for this study consisted in standard lateral cephalogram of two hundred and twenteen children, eighty eight boys and one hundred twenty four girls, aged 6 through 18 years, having Angle's class II malocclusion. On the basis of findings of this study, the following results were obtained. 1. In horizontal skeletal classifications, 16 groups were classified according to FMN-A-B, SE-FMN-A, Ba-SE-Me, Ba-Se/Ra P. The sequences that have relatively high frequency are as follows: a) Horizontal Group 16 b) Horizontal Group 12 c) Horizontal Group 13 d) Horizontal Group 9 & 15 2. In vertical skeletal classification, 8 groups were classified according to the PMV/PP, PMV/Occ. P. PMV/Mn. P. • In this paper, we describe design and implementation of audio encoder/decoder for voice synthesis. It uses the encoding of difference value of successive samples instead of the original sample value. and has the compression ratio of 4. The function is verified by using FPGA and the performance is measured by the fabricated chip using $0.35{\mu}m$ standard CMOS process. The system clock is 16.384MHz. The measured THD+n is from -40dB to -80dB with frequency variation and the power consumption is about 80mW. It is suited for the mobile application of high audio quality and low power consumption.

  • A lot of demand for parts of millimeter wave band, as would be expected 57~63 GHz band down conversion mixer was designed and fabricated using IHP 0.25 um SiGe process. Designed and fabricated mixer was double balanced type and located reduced 3D balun at RF port and buffer amplifier at outport for suppression LO signal and conversion gain. Fabricated mixer measured conversion gain of 13.8 dB, $P1dB_{in}$ -17 dBm and 88 mA of current consumption characteristics, respectively.
