기존의 공중전기통신망들이 B-ISDN으로 통합, 발전되어 가는 과정에서 경제성 및 효율성 등의 이유로 인해 필연적으로 기존망과 새로 구현하는 망 사이의 연동과정이 필요하게 되며 가능한 기존망의 기능을 수용하면서 구현될 수 있는 방안이 마련되어야한다. 본 논문에서는 B-ISDN과 Internet의 망간 프로토콜인 B-ISUP와 TCP/IP의 연동 프로토콜을 설계하고 연동 프로토콜을 검증하기 위해 페트리네트(petrinet)의 확장인 프레디키디(predicate)/액션(action) 네트를 이용하여 모델링하였다. 또한 동작성 확인을 위해 도달트리(reachability tree)를 이용하여 설계한 프로토콜이 교착상태(deadlock)없이 정상적으로 수행됨을 보였다.

B-ISDN은 다양한 속도의 영상, 음성, 데이터 등에 의한 멀티미디어 통신서비스를 실현하기 위해, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM)를 전송방식으로 채용하고 있으며, ITU--T 등 국제표준화 기구에서 표준화가 진행되고 있다. 본 고에서는 B-ISDN의 서비스품질에 대해 ATM 셀 전송품질(ATM Layer Cell Transfer Performance), 접속품질(Call Processing Performance), 안정품질(Availability Performance)로 나누어 고찰하고, 이들을 반영한 ITU--T의 서비스품질 표준화 동향에 대해 ATM Forum의 동향과 연관지어 기술하였다. 특히, ATM 셀 전송품질을 사용자가 지정한 Quality of Service (QoS) 클래스 방식과 QoS 파라미터 방식의 제공에 대해 고찰하였으며, B-ISDN을 기반으로 한 Internet Protocol (IP) 망과 세계정보통신기반 Global information Infrastructure (GII)의 품질표준화 동향에 대해서도 소개하였다.

The various services that a broadband integrated services digital network (B-ISDN) carries, have a wide range of delay, delay jitter and cell loss probability requirements. Design of appropriate control schemes for B-ISDN is an extremely important and challenging problem. In this paper, we proposed multiplexing algorithm with both delay and loss priorities in order to satisfy the diverse requirements. For the implementation of cell lose priority, we assumed that voice cells are generated as non-discardable(i.e., high priority) and discardable (i.e., low priotity)cells. The low priority voice cell may be discarded inside the network if congestion occurs. The cell dropping scheme is shown to reduce cell losses as well as delays for both voice and data. Such a load shedding scheme is expected to improve significantly utilization of B-ISDN.

기존의 공중전기 통신망들이 B-ISDN으로 통합, 발전되어 가는 과정에서 경제성 및 효율성 등의 이유로 인하여 필연적으로 기존망과 구현하려는 망사이의 연동이 필요하게 되며 가능한 기존망의 기능을 수용하면서 구현될 수 있는 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 본 기고에서는 각각 B-ISDN과 Internet의 특성을 파악하고 그 차이점을 분석하였으며, B-ISDN과 Internet의 연동에 있어서 연동 요구사항과 연동 기능, 그리고 두 망간 연동방안을 제시하고, 이를 비교분석하였다. 또한 하위계층의 근본적 차이로 인해 발생하는 두 망간의 문제점에 대해서도 논의하였다.

In this paper, we investigate key issues and the CCITT activities related to the quality of service in the B-ISDN based on the ATM. We first clarify the relationships between the QOS(Quality of Service). NP(Network Performance), and GOS(Grade of Service). Using the GOS, network design and tuning method is suggested. Also, we examine the performance impairments and key NP parameters in ATM networks.

B-ISDN link dimensioning is often known as a difficult problem because of the characteristics of Asynchronous Transfer Mode(ATM) such as various Quality of Services of different service requirements, and the statistical multiplexing resulting from virtual path/virtual circuit connections. In this paper, we propose a nonlinear integer optimization model for dimensioning B-ISDN considering the statistical multiplexing effects of virtual path connections(VPCs) and the modularity of resources allocated to a transmission link. The algorithm based on the simultaneous linear approximation technique as well as some numerical results will be also presented.

본고에서는 광대역 multi-media 서비스를 제공하는 ATM(Asynchrous Transfer Mode) 기본 B-ISDN 전송망의 실현에 바탕을 두고, ATM 프로토콜 및 전달망의 구조 측면에서 ATM 신호경로의 설정과 이의 OAM(Operations, Administration and Maintenance) 방법,SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierachy) 기본 ATM 전송로의 구성, 그리고 관련 전송망 요소들에 대해 제시한다. 또한 기존 PDH(Plesiochronous Digital Hierarchy) 기본망으로부터 SDH-ATM 망으로, 그리고 기존 서비스 전용망으로부터 B-ISDN 으로의 진화전략을 전송망 측면에서 고찰한다.

In this paper we suggest a dynamic quota allocation mechansim for B-ISDN(Broadband Integrated Services Digital Network) subscriber networks. The quota adaptation decision based on the number of cells in the transmission queue is made distributively by each node in the ring network. This mechanism provides both fairness and efficiency for it enables each node to adapt its quota under asymmetric traffic condition. The simulation results show that substantial improvements in access delay time and throughput can be achieved with this algorithm.

오늘날 많은 기업들이 공장 자동화를 위하여 많은 투자를 하고 있는 만큼 ATM/B-ISDN 통신망을 기반으로 한 생산 공정을 자동화함으로써 생산성 향상, 품질향상 및 원가절감을 꽤할 수 있어 오늘날 국제 경쟁 상회에서 유리한 위치를 점유할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 원격지에 연결괸 공장 자동화 시스템을 중앙통제실에서 제어하는 시스템으로 분산형 데이터베이스를 구축하여 공장 자동화라인의 데이터를 저장, 유지 관리한다. 또한 각 생산 공정 라인의 텍스트, 그래픽, 이미지, 오디오, 비디오 등과 같은 대용량의 멀티미디어 데이터베이스 시스템을 구성하기 위해서는 원격제어을 위한 초고속 통신망이 필요하고,ATM/B-ISDN 통신망을 기반으로 한 멀티미디어 원격제어 구현을 위한 DBMS(Database Management)의 원격제어 Agent 시스템을 구현한다.
