Growth and biomass production of natural stands of Quercus variabilis in relation to tree density were studied to obtain basic guide lines for future tending operation. Two natural stands of Quercus variabilis located at 900m (A stand: 6,600trees/ha, $15.84m^2/ha$, $\frac{19}{17-20}$) and 800m (B stand: 4,300trees/ha, $16.65m^2/ha$, $\frac{20}{17-21}$) elevation in Sancheong, Kyongnam Province were selected for the comparative study and following results were obtained through a sample plot method. After diameter of individual trees in the sample plots was measured, twelve average trees from each diameter class were cut felled to measure dry weight of $W_S$, $W_B$, $W_L$, $W_{Ba}$, and standing biomass and biomass production rates by a allometrior regressions related to $D^2H$. Vertical distribution of leaves along the stems indicated that photosynthesis was carried out 2.2m above the ground in Stand A and 1.2m in Stand B. Maximum photosynthesis was located 4.2m and 6.2m above the ground in Stand A and B, respectively. Leaf area index was 4.25ha/ha for Stand A, and 3.89ha/ha for Stand B. Above-ground standing biomass was 49.51 ton/ha for Stand A and 59.20 ton/ha and net annual production was 6.75 ton/ha/yr. for Stand A and 8.99 ton/ha/yr. for Stand B. The ratio of net annual production to standing biomass was 17.5% for Stand A and 16.7% for Stand B. Net assimilation rate was 2.75kg/kg/yr. for Stand A and 3.58kg/kg/yr. for Stand B. Stem wood production rate was 1.46kg/kg/yr. for Stand A and 2.09kg/kg/yr. for Stand B. Bark production rate was 0.60 kg/kg/yr. for Stand A and 0.34kg/kg/yr. for Stand B. Above data indicated that Stand B utilized growing spaces and sites more efficiently than Stand A. It is concluded chat productivity of natural stands of Quercus variabilis can be enhanced through optimization of basal areas and number of tree per hectare and that sound management of natural oak stands should be based on systematic sampling of the area for periodic productivity estimation.
We investigated tree composition, stand characteristics, biomass allocation pattern and carbon storage variability in Sal forests (Shorea robusta Garten.) under two forest management regimes (Sal forest and Sal plantation) in Tripura, Northeast India. The results revealed higher species richness (29 species), stand density of $1060.00{\pm}11.12stems\;ha^{-1}$ and diversity index ($1.90{\pm}0.08$) in Sal forest. and lower species richness (4 species), stand density of $ 230.00{\pm}37.22stems\;ha^{-1}$ and diversity index ($0.38{\pm}0.15$) in Sal plantation. The total basal cover $33.02{\pm}4.87m^2ha^{-1}$) and dominance ($0.76{\pm}0.08$) were found higher in Sal plantation than the Sal forest ($22.53{\pm}0.38m^2ha^{-1}$ and $0.23{\pm}0.02$ respectively). The total vegetation carbon density was recorded higher in Sal plantation ($219.68{\pm}19.65Mg\;ha^{-1}$) than the Sal forest ($167.64{\pm}16.73Mg\;ha^{-1}$). The carbon density estimates acquired in this study suggest that Sal plantation in Tripura has the potentiality to store a large amount of atmospheric carbon inspite of a very low species diversity. However, Sal forests has also an impending sink of carbon due to presence of large number of young trees.
Purpose: Mee (Madhuca longifolia) is an economically important tree growing throughout Sri Lanka. Its importance is mainly attributed to its oil with high nutritional and medicinal values. However, an inefficient extraction method limits its use. This study revealed the possibility of extracting oil from mee seeds by using a screw-type oil expeller. Methods: A popular screw-type oil expeller was used in the experiment. Extract bar clearance and speeds of the main spiral shaft were altered to increase the oil expelling efficiency of the machine. The quality of refined oil at the optimum oil yield was determined by measuring the refractive index, saponification value, iodine value, unsaponifiable matter, free fatty acid, and specific gravity. Results: An optimum yield of 35% oil was obtained when the machine capacity was 30 kg/h and energy consumption was 0.13 kWh/kg. This optimum machine condition was observed at an extract bar clearance of 0.5 mm and a main spiral shaft speed of 90 rpm. The refractive index, saponification value, iodine value, unsaponifiable matter, free fatty acid, and specific gravity of the oil were 1.4, 203, 59, 3.5%, 0.2%, and 0.907 g/cm3 respectively. Color of the mee oil was closer to yellow, which is revealed by the lightness value (L) of 24.93 and positive value (b) of 11.81. Conclusion: The screw-type oil expeller can be used for economically extracting mee oil on a commercial scale.

The Ministry of Environment recently analyzed the output data of 10 fine dust measuring stations and, as a result, announced that about 60% had an error that the existing atmospheric measurement concentration was higher. In order to accurately predict fine dust, the wind direction and measurement position must be corrected. In this paper, in order to solve these problems, fuzzy rules are used to solve these problems. In addition, in order to calculate the fine particulate sensation index actually felt by pedestrians on the street, a computer simulation experiment was conducted to calculate the fine particulate sensation index in consideration of weather conditions, temperature conditions, humidity conditions, and wind conditions.
An objective of this study was to provide database for the planting disign of buffer green space. Types, planting structure, and effect of vuffer green space were investigated in five housing complexes of newtown of metropolitan area, Korea. Buffer green space in the study sites were constructed as mounding, slope, and plate. The number of species was found 20 tree and sub-tree species(10 evergreen and 20 deciduous species ) and 13 shrub species. These species were planted in one-storyed planting structure and there was no difference with ornamental species in the urban parks. Effect of sound proof by the buffer green space was recognized but sound level in four types among the seven types was observed above standard sound level for housing complex(65dB). Effect of sound proof was especially most effective in the mounding type. It was found that planting density and index of plant crown volume were mot satisfied to the function of buffer green space because of lower density and crown volume than natural vegetation per unit. Based on these results, this study suggested that buffer green space is desirable to be developed in the mounding type over two meters height with multi-layer planting model. In addition, there is needed to consider vegetation structure of natural forest around the developing site.

The purpose of this study is to develop a model for the density management of planting sites and an additional model for new planting sites. In the Dongtan New Town of Hwaseong, there are buffer green spaces, with widths between 8m and 15m, between roads and apartment complexes. A total 38 survey plots were set to examine the planting patterns and the density of landscape trees. The Crown Overlapping Index (COI) was developed to assess the level of overcrowding as far as tree growth and development effectively. Pinus strobus recorded the most serious level of overcrowding growth and development. Its average density and average COI were very high at $0.3trees/m^2$ and 35.6%, respectively. There were many areas in which its COI was above 45%. The criteria for density management were set by standardizing the COI into three levels, which were above 45% (Type A), 30~45% (Type B), and under 30% (Type C). A model was proposed to manage poorly growing trees and to develop a model to select and manage trees of similar specification based on the planting patterns. The trees of density management areas were reviewed in terms of tree types and the ease of transplanting to establish an application system for the management plans according to the possibility of transplanting, thinning, and pruning. In new buffer green spaces, the planting density of Pinus strobus was lowered to $0.20{\sim}0.25trees/m^2$, with that of shrubs being reduced to $1.5{\sim}2.0trees/m^2$, leading to a planting design model to cover the lower parts in at least 30~40%.
The aboveground biomass and nutrient content (N, P, K, Ca and Mg) of Pinus koraiensis S. et Z., aged 9, 22, 34, 46, 66 years, were measured in the Experiment Forest of Kangwon National University of Kangwondo province. The site index of the stands ranged from 13.5 to 14.2. Allometric equations (logY=alogX+b, where Y, X is ovendry mass and DBH, respectively) relating dry weights of stem, branches and needles to diameter at breast height (DBH) were developed to estimate aboveground tree biomass. Total above ground tree biomass increased with stand age from $21.8t\;ha^{-1}$ in the 9-year-old stand to $130t\;ha^{-1}$ in the 66-Year-old stand. Aboveground biomass was allocated as follows : stem> branch > foliage, except for the 9-year-old stand which had a greater proportion of foliage biomass than branch biomass. As stand age increased, an increasing proportion of annual biomass increment was allocated to stems. The aboveground biomass of shrubs and herbs ranged from 0.4 to $3.9t\;ha^{-1}$ and from 0.05 to $0.6t\;ha^{-1}$, respectively. No relationship was found between aboveground understory biomass and stand age. The mass of woody debris and forest floor varied between 0.59 to $1.54t\;ha^{-1}$ and 6.0 to $21.63t\;ha^{-1}$, respectively. Nutrient accumulation in aboveground tree biomass increased with stand age and was in the order of N > Ca > K > P > Mg. Average rates of nutrients accumulation in biomass were greatest in the early stages of stand development, and less marked as stand aged. The nutrient concentrations in different tree components decreased in the order of needle > branch > stem. There were no detectable trends in nutrient content of the forest floor and mineral soils with stand age. Understory vegetation contributed little to the nutrient pool of these Korean pine ecosystems. Mineral soil contained the Breast proportion of nutrient capital of the various ecosystem compartments.
This study was conducted to estimate genetic variation of Pinus densiflora in Kyungpook province which shows morphological variation between northern and southern types. Six isozymes sueh as IDH, ME, PGI, ADH, GOT and LAP was analyzed using megagametophyte tissue of seeds by electrophoresis and 16 populations of Pinus densiflora and 5 of Pinus thunbergii were tested. The results obtained were as follows ; 1. In P. densiflora, 13 Loci were found in 6 isozymes and 8 loci of them were polymorphic, having 24 alleles, while in Pinus thunbergii, there were 18 alleles detected from 6 loci among the same number of loci as in Pinus densiflora. 2. The genotypic frequency in Pinus densiflora vary slightly among populations for some isozymes, but most of them satisfied the law of Hardy-Weinherg equilibrium, while some populations such as Youngil for ADH and LAY, Youngyang for ADH and Bonghwa for LAY did not follow the law and showed high fixation index values and homozygosities higher than expected. 3. The variation among populations based on the genetic distance was small except populations of Youngju, Baegam, Gyungju and Sangju, however they could be clustered by three groups : northern Kyungpook group including Mt. Taebak, inland Kyungpook group represented by Sungju, Eusung and Kumleung population and coastal Kyungpook group represented by Baegam and Gyungju population. 4. No significant difference was found in 6 isozymes between northern and southern types of Pinus densiflora which was morphologically different. 5. The frequency of heterozygous loci per tree was higher in Pinus densiflora especially for ME-A and A DH-B, while that of homozygous loci was higher in Pinus thunbergii except for ADH-B, LAY-B and PGI-B locus.

In mobile cellular network the ever-changing location of a mobile host necessitates the continuous tracking of its current position and efficient management of location information. A database called Home Location Register(HLR) plays a major role in location management in this distributed environment, providing table management, index management, and backup management facilities. The objectives of this paper are to identify the p개blems of the current HLR system through rigorous analysis, to suggest solutions to them, and to propose a new architecture for the HLR system. In the HLR system, a main memory database system is used to provide real-time accesses and updates of subscriber's information. Thus it is suggested that the improvement bemade to support better real-time facilities, to manage subscriber's information more reliably, and to accommodate more subscribers. In this paper, I propose an efficient backup method that takes into account the characteristics of HLR database transactions. The retrieval speed and the memory usage of the two-level index method are better than those of the T-tree index method. Insertion md deletion overhead of the chained bucket hashing method is less than that of modified linear hashing method. In the proposed backup method, I use two kinds of dirty flags in order to solve the performance degradation problem caused by frequent registration-location operations. Performance analysis has been performed to evaluate the proposed techniques based on a system with subscribers. The results show that, in comparison with the current techniques, the memory requirement is reduced by more than 62%,directory operations, and backup operation by more than 80%.
Mean densities of two-spotted spider mite (TSM), Tetranichus urticae Koch adults from January to April in 2014 to investigate the occurrence and dispersion pattern of T. urticae on purpose of developing a monitoring method in the strawberry PVC house. Difference of density of T. urticae adult on middle and both side of leaf wasn't significantly. Density of T. urticae in investigation at different furrows and investigating points was the highest at the right and left sides of a furrow in strawberry PVC house. In results of comparing the dispersion incides of Taylor's power law (TPL) with Iwao's patchiness regression (IPR), TPL described better mean-relationship for the dispersion indieces compared to IPR. Slopes and intercepts of TPL from leaf samples did not differ among surveyed regions. Also, Distribution of T. urticae in a strawberry PVC house was the gravitation of the distribution because b and ${\beta}$ values of TPL and IPR was bigger than 1.
