In this paper, we analyzed the effects by multi-stacking superstrates over the circular-polarized patch antenna. The previous works considered a single-layered superstrate or a superstrate with multiple layers, and did not almost consider the axial ratio at the performance analysis. First, the effect of center frequency shift is analyzed by the variation of air-gap height between patch antenna and superstrate. The center frequency is down-shifted at the smaller air-gap height and has almost the same frequency as patch antenna at the air-gap height of $005{\lambda}_0$. Second, the antenna performance is analyzed by multi-stacking superstrates with the air-gap height of $005{\lambda}_0$. As the number of multi-stacked superstrates increase, antenna gain has a linear increase and axial ratio is exponentially deteriorated. In addition, it has also been observed that the antenna performance has the same trend with the number of multi-stacked superstrates as the thickness of superstrate increases. Finally, we confirmed that it is possible to design the CP patch antenna with the scalable gain and less than 3dB axial ratio by stacking the superstrate.
A Fabry-Perot cavity (FPC) antenna producing both high-gain and circularly-polarized (CP) behavior is proposed. To increase antenna gain and obtain CP characteristics, a superstrate composed of square patches with a pair of truncated corners is placed above the linearly polarized patch antenna with an approximately half-wavelength distance from the ground plane at the operating frequency. The proposed antenna has the advantages of high gain, a simple design, and an excellent boresight axial ratio over the operating frequency bandwidth. Moreover, used in an FPC antenna, the proposed superstrate converts a linear polarization produced by a patch antenna into a circular polarization. In addition, the cavity antenna produces left-hand circular-polarization and right-hand circular-polarization when a patch antenna inside the cavity generates x-direction and y-direction polarization, respectively. The measured and simulated results verify the performance of the antenna.

In this paper, we propose a three-element CRPA array with improved low-elevation gain. The proposed antenna consists of a feed patch and a radiating patch, and the feed patch is connected by a coaxial cable. The radiating patch is electromagnetically coupled to the feed patch, which allows to improve the low-elevation gain of the antenna. To demonstrate the suitability of the proposed antenna, the antenna characteristics are measured in a full anechoic chamber. The resulting bore-sight gain is 2.8 dBic with an axial ratio of 2.7 dB, and the average gain at the low-elevation direction of $75^{\circ}$ is -1.4 dBic. The results verify that the proposed antenna is suitable for CRPA arrays with anti-jamming capability.

In this paper, we designed and manufactured the Ku-band circular waveguide antenna to do wireless communication with a ground radar as on-board antenna of missile. Using the MATLAB and the HFSS, we designed the circular polarizer which has a characteristic of circular polarization and broadband using the capacitive pin method, the feeder to feed coaxial line to circular waveguide, and a stopper to prevent a conductor material from being inserted. Then we simulated the designed antenna using the HFSS, obtained the gain and the radiation pattern. Because of a difficulty of manufacture, we established a manufacture process procedure. Antenna is manufactured with this procedure, test results of the manufactured antenna are the axial ratio of 1.37 ~ 1.72, the 3 ㏈ beamwidth of $72.23^{\circ}{\sim}78.54^{\circ},$ and the gain of 3.26 ~ 4.61 ㏈ within frequency band. We knew that these results are similar with simulation results. Also, we confirmed that the manufactured antenna is satisfied with requirement conditions through performance test, environmental test and flight test.

In this paper, we develop a functional test model for magnetic bearing wheels. The functional test model is an electromagnetic levitation system that has three degree of freedom, which consists of one axial suspension from gravity and two axes gimbaling capability to small angels. A nonlinear controller with high-gain observers is proposed and the real-time experiment results show that the rotor is accurately levitated at the desired position and well-balanced, which is a suitable result for the potential use an magnetic bearing wheels. Also, the proposed scheme exhibits better performance when it is compared with the conventional PID control method.

A novel single feed wide band CP stacked microstrip antenna using crossed slots has been designed, fabricated and measured. For the single rediating element the designed 10dB return loss bandwidth is 34.5%99.45~13.54 GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 18.7%(11.17~13.39GHz), and 6 dB gain bandwidth is 29%(10.21~13.64GHz). For the 2$\times$2 array designed using a sequential rotation method, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 35.9%(9.69~13.94GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 34.6GHz (9.93~14.03GHz), and 6dB gain bandwidth is 27.4%(10.35~13.6GHz). For the fabricated 8$\times$8 array antenna, the 10dB return loss bandwidth is 27.3%(10.17~13.41GHz), 3dB axial ratio bandwidth is 27.9GHz(10.1~13.4GHz), and the radiation pattern is good agreement with theory. This antenna can be used for broadband applications for communications or broadcasting in Ku band.

In this paper, we investigate the design and fabrication of a conical spiral antenna suitable for satellite TT&C applications. The shape of the spiral is optimized using a commercial electromagnetic software for good gain and axial ratio performances over $2.0{\sim}2.3\;GHz$ frequencies. A coaxial infinite balun feeding the spiral is designed using experimental methods. A method for precision fabrication of the spiral is presented. Measurements of the fabricated antenna show satisfactory performances over $2.0{\sim}2.3\;GHz$ such as a reflection coefficient less than -18 dB, a maximum gain greater than 4 dB, a gain greater than 0 dB over angles ${\pm}75^{\circ}$ from the antenna boresight, an axial ratio less than 5 dB over angles ${\pm}90^{\circ}$ from the antenna boresight, a front-back ratio greater than 15 dB.
This paper describes a compact microstrip active antenna with dual polarization. The antenna, receiving both a left-hand circularly polarized wave and a right-hand circularly polarized wave, has a function of polarization diversity. A square-shaped empty room is located on the inside of the microstrip radiator so that the size has been reduced. And slots are added around feeding point to improve input matching. Also, amplifier and switching circuitry are placed at the empty room to increase antenna gain and to select one of the circular polarizations, respectively. The proposed antenna has been applied to GPS(global positioning system). The measurement results show that it has 10dB-impedance bandwidth, 3dB axial bandwidth of about 50MHz, 3dB beamwidth of 90degree, and gain of 13dBi, respectively, for RHCP. Also, it has 3dB axial bandwidth of about 50MHz, 3dB beamwidth of 84 degree, and gain of 12dBi, respectively, for LHCP.

As the demand for slim laptops requires ion'-height optical disc drives, vibration problems of optical disc drives are of great concern. Additionally, with the decrease of a track width and a depth of focus in high density drives, studies on vibration resonance between mechanical parts become more important. From the vibration point of view, the performance of optical disc drives is closely related with the relative displacement between a disc and an objective lens which is controlled by servo mechanism. In other words, to read and write data properly, the relative displacement between an optical disc and an objective lens should be within a certain limit. The relative displacement is dependent on not only an anti-vibration mechanism design but also servo control capability. Good servo controls can make compensation for poor mechanisms, and vice versa. In a usual development process, robustness of the anti-vibration mechanism is always verified with the servo control of an objective lens. Engineers partially modify servo gain margin in case of a data reading error. This modification cannot correct the data reading error occasionally and the mechanism should be redesigned more robustly. Therefore it is necessary to verify a mechanism with respect to the possible servo gain plot. In this study we propose the experimental verification method far anti-vibration mechanism with respect to the existing servo gain plot. This method verifies axial vibration characteristics of optical disc drives on the basis of transmissibility. Using this method, we verified our mechanism and modified the mechanism for better anti-vibration characteristics.
